Stop Pushing Eric Young

The kid has talent – I'll give you that, but his talent is limited at best.

Comedic value? Check.
Fan favorite? Check.
X-Division value? Check.
Potential to ever contend for the World Title? No.

So why push the guy into the glass ceiling like he's something he's not?

EY's best days are behind him now – when he played a pathetic, awkwardly funny and timid wrestler who worked some great comedy angles – the pyro blowing up in his entrance and him falling over scared was great, for example.

Enough is enough. He's never going to get over Dixie, no matter how much you try. Putting him in main events, stables, or otherwise is never going to attract the attention of marks and smarks who know better. Hell, even the idiots in the iMPACT! Zone know he's a mid-card talent on his best day.

The kid just doesn't have the look, voice, or personality to become someone who's ever going to matter – sorry.

Some guys make careers out of being glorified jobbers – he should relish it – the same way Shark Boy, the Brooklyn Brawler, and Santino have.

I don't think it's particularly important if he gets over with Dixie. I'd imagine he's already pretty over with her anyway. Otherwise how in the hell is he getting pushed if the woman with the final decision doesn't want him to be?

It's important that he's over with the fans. Which he is. However, it's TNA. TNA is the place where pretty much everyone is over with the fans. I still get the feeling that Eric Young has something left in him; some undiscovered potential. I think the time to show that was probably after Samoa Joe put him over at... whenever it was that Scott Hall no-showed though.

So yeah, might as well stop pushing Young. He's taking up valuable space that likes of, oh, let's say James Storm could be occupying.

James Storm could be a go-to guy in TNA if he broke into singles. A friend of mine and myself have been discussing that for about two years now.

I just don't think EY has the image for the spotlight – he's too quirky.

I agree I dont like the guy he has been involved stupid angles like the Super Eric, Dont Fire Eric and the beer drinking title. I was pissed when he was Scott Hall's replacement at Destination X. Oh yeah and when he had a a bikini contest with Miss Brooks and wins the thing, what is wrong the the TNA fans. I agree he should be a jobber at best.

Don't Fire Eric was a great run for him. It was the height of his quirkiness. He became an instant fan favorite with that two arm fingers pointed up alternating bushwhackers type entrance.

i don't really think he's being pushed he had one match for a main event and it was just soo they could keep the sting/angle thing fresh

I actually enjoyed the "don't fire Eric" stage. But EY is just blah. He isn't interesting. Never been excited for an EY match.

You aren't the only one – he was way over as a mid-carder when the "Dont Fire Eric" gimmick was going on. Too bad they buried him by making him work that incredibly ******ed "Super Eric" and the Prince Brotherhood of Jobber Losers gimmick shortly after. A total waste of a springboard.

The "Don't Fire Eric" schtick was great. I still do the little pointy thing whenever he comes down. It made for some good comedy. Then came his time fighting over the Drinking Championship. That was a fun little run. It was some more comedy that brought action into the mix.

The Super Eric was just awful. Thats where they blew any chance of him ever being anything more than a midcarder. This gimmick was so rediculous and everybody is going to remember him as the guy who dressed up as a superhero and apparently easn't aware that he was the superhero. I confused myself trying to type that. After that run Eric Young became a joke. Even though he was a joke before, I still thought that he was credible enough to be a viable upper midcarder, and if they were to properly turn him a little more serious a future main eventer. But Super Eric ruined him, and I can't take this new serious Eric Young seriously.

I've only been watching TNA for about a year and a half so i dont know if this is even possible BUT Young needs to become serious.

He's probably like Jericho's size and build but compared to Chris, he is laughable.

When he was chosen by Sting to represent him in that match a couple of months back, he was serious. Why not stick with that?

He's got a really distinct voice and with the right angle, could probably give some decent promos.

So, if the shit stops and he becomes a SERIOUS contender instead of some jerk who is proud that he isn't scared of his own pyro, then maybe theres a future for Showtime.

The problem with that unfortunately is that he already squandered a perfectly good springboard after he intially "saved" his job following the conclusion of the "Don't Fire Eric" gimmick. He "won" his freedom getting over on Robert Roode – a rising star in TNA.

Unfortunately booking wrote him into a really silly storyline where he ended up a "superhero" instead of actually trying to push him into a legitimate talent.

I still don't think he has it in him to really break the glass ceiling – but I'd be happy to be proven wrong. I have before – with Jeff Hardy, Christian, and others.

That guy will NEVER be a main eventer, or at least he shouldn't be if the company wants to stay in business. The best thing he can be is a Jobber to the stars. He can hold a mid-card title and stick around because he is popular, but don't put that dude in the main event. He is kind of like Christopher "Im a 5'8, 175 lb balding guy and im TOUGH" Daniels except he is actually entertaining.

Christopher Daniels is a world class performer who's held multiple world titles internationally. His move set, in-ring psychology, and his character in general are light years more interesting than a quixotic young coarse-voiced character who's greatest feat was rallying the crowd behind helping him retain his job. Daniels has his "Fallen Angel" title chanted in demand at house shows and iMPACT! tapings but "Don't Fire Eric" is more interesting to you than what the majority of TNA fans want?

Please... spare me.

Daniels' track record speaks for itself – whether you agree with it or not.
