"Stone Cold" Steve Austin comments on match with CM Punk

Steve Austin*recently spoke with The Boston Herald to promote WrestleMania XXX. Austin commented on the*CM Punk*situation:
"Punk's fed up with not main-eventing WrestleMania."


Austin also commented on a possible match between the two:
"I could get more out of that guy than anybody else walking Planet Earth. He could have that ultimate 'Come to Jesus'*meeting*with me. Punk's been around for a long time and he's a smart guy, but he never stepped into a damn squared circle with the intensity of a guy like Stone Cold Steve Austin."




Do you think CM Punk will come back? Can a Austin-Punk match happen at WM31 with Rock's possible in ring return and Sting's possible first WWE match?

I have said it before And I will say it again.... There are 2 that punk would ever main event a mania.

1) against stone cold

2) again cena for wwe title

I bet you this, if wwe can get austin to wrestle at WM, punk will come back because he knows what it holds, a main event at mania and a hell of a matchx with one of the greats.

There's no way the WWE would have that match without buildup and time to advertise for it. I just can't see it. At WM 31 with alot of build I could see it happening.

It did feel as though Austin was laying the groundwork for a match, but I just don't see it happening.
In an ideal world, Punk would confront Austin at Mania about his comments and then challenge him for the next Mania, a la Rock/Cena.
However, Austin has said many times that while he would have loved to work with Punk, his wrestling days are behind him because it would take him too long to get into ring shape due to his age, health and other projects, and that he wouldn't wrestle a match unless he felt able to put on a Stone Cold quality match.
Guys like Rock and Taker can take all the time off and come back for that big match. Rock has to keep himself in shape and to a certain degree of fitness due to his Action Hero status, and even he got blown up at Mania 29.
Taker has an entire year to heal up and train at his leisure due to him not being involved in anything but WWE.
Austin, however, has been out of action for over a decade, has movies, tv shows and a podcast on the go, and has had no real reason to be in any sort of ring shape since Mania 19.

I think it's gonna have to stay a dream match.

I doubt it. Stone Cold would have to get in shape. They would have to have the main event of WrestleMania. I can't see it happening. I'm surprised WWE hadn't pitched Cena vs. Austin all these years, that would be the biggest draw out of all the full-time wrestlers currently on the roster.

Screw Cena i dont get people and Cena V Rock,Hogan,Austin be the big match's Rock worked but HH is to old and Austin i wouldn't work with Cena if Austin was to face anyone it would have to be CM Punk or Orton i just dont see it working with anyone else and the idea of Austin V Cena is just a someone with a super Cena PG Fantasy

Plus it would give Austin a year to get ready and Austin is still in shape just needs to build stamina and get rid of ring rust a year is more than enough time

Dont know where you got the info that Austin 'wouldnt work' with Cena, tbh.

From the outside looking in, it seems that they get along rather well and in an interview done with SCSA, he said he could get the best out of John Cena's impressive ability and such a programme would make big money for the company.

I'd love to see a match between Austin & Punk because it would be epic and it writes itself. The ultimate "straight edge" guy Vs. the beer drinking every man who hates those who preach down to them. People can identify with that and would chose a side accordingly because that feud and those characters would be so polarizing. My concern here is that while Austin can easily return, will Punk? If he was so burnt out or outright pissed at WWE, does that mean he'll never return? Honestly, I believe Punk will return to wrestling at some point. If WWE makes a big offer and finally agrees to give him his long wanted feud with Stone Cold, that could be the thing that brings Punk back to WWE.

It could just as easily be a Face vs Face feud which does work(HBK v Taker; Rock v Cena; Bryan v Cena)...obviously Austin would be cheered much more at least initially, but Cena is good enough,lMO, to get his own fans behind him eventually although he would have to play the defacto heel.

I am sure if there is a chance of Austin v Cena ever happening, the WWE would find a way to make it work because it would make money for sure.

Why would Austin have to work heel? They are just their characters. People chose to cheer or boo whoever. Get off the idea that Cena is a baby face. Cena is Cena. He's booed by some, cheered by others.

For the match, stone cold vs punk is what I want to see. Austin can make Punk. It could be huge. Cena/Austin is huge too but there is a risk of big match fatigue. Gotta spread the rubs around.
