State Of The Divas Title.

So Paige has come from NXT unannounced and beat AJ Lee in an impromptu match for the Title.

I thought at least Tamina and Naomi would have feuded for the title, maybe even Emma till at least Summerslam,
giving time for storylines.

Do you think that this is the right choice Do you think she will be recognized as the WWE Undisputed Women's/Diva's Champion?

I feel that, If they wanna revamp the Diva's division, they got Naomi, AJ, Paige, Emma, Natalya, and Tamina as strong contenders, they could make a compelling story going forward with those girls.

No one else is really worth it, IMO.

Have meaningful matches, enough bubble gum filler.

If it doesn't work with Paige, I have no idea what they are going to do.

Let the other total divas hold cards in between matches or something. lol

I think it's pretty clear that WWE wanted to build up Naomi for a title win at WrestleMania, but her injury prevented that. So they went in another direction.

And in lieu of building somebody up for a huge moment when they win the title, having somebody(especially a debutant) come out and shock the world can be awesome. Paige is the real deal, she definitely deserves this. Her and AJ are going to have some awesome matches.

I don't think it was the best move, especially how it was done.

Paige was too submissive and ended up kind of botching her finisher to win the title. I'm thinkin' AJ will win it back, but who knows what creative has in mind for the dual title thing.

It was better than seeing any of those women from that awful invitational from WM. When it comes to that old group of divas, I have no problem siding with AJ when she brags about how she beats up on them. She did. I don't follow NXT so Paige is a fresh face to me. I don't mind Paige feuding with AJ but it leaves a too-crowded group of divas with even less to do other than film an E network tv show.

I feel like it was a great move because Everyone that was WWE ready in NXT made their debuts or were seen tonight. Paige included. Emma and Summer were WWE ready and they debuted a few months back and Paige got to recover from her injury and is WWE ready and got her debut and made history, holding both the NXT women's and WWE Divas titles simultaneously.

It also ended the AJ vs the World storyline with AJ coming out on top, not being beaten by a total diva. It shows that there are others who can have the spotlight put on them and it means the Divas are ready for more time and attention with feuds that aren't about the title.

Paige and AJ has to be the new Lita and Trish that is the only way the division can get anywhere, we all know this.

For me, it's refreshing.

Wouldn't say I was ever 'tired' of AJ Lee, but honestly, who else is more over than Paige? I don't think anyone else could've taken the title off AJ without it generating some real heat for a babyface Total Diva to win it. It seems bizarre to think that a Diva from NXT gets more of a pop than the rest of the main roster Divas, but it is what it is. You can probably thank both NXT and Total Divas for that.

The Raw after Wrestlemania is clearly the perfect time to debut someone like Paige. The crowd are into it, they're more knowledgeable and I guess smarky than the average crowd, and they're not oblivious to NXT and what goes on there. As soon as Paige's theme played, they knew who it was. Would that happen at a Smackdown taping in the middle of nowhere? I dunno. This was the right place to do it anyway.

I'm really happy the WWE have kinda gone against the grain and given her the strap straightaway. Now it's up to her to roll with it and see what will happen. Obviously, the Divas aren't that much of a draw, so they can afford to take risks like this. If it doesn't work out, oh well. But she's way too talented to not make it work. Judging by YouTube comments I've read on various videos, the only ones who hate this are AJ Lee marks, and that's cool. I like AJ Lee too. But this has definitely freshened up the Divas division for me.

One thing I will say though, I kinda feel bad for Naomi. All signs were pointing towards her getting the strap from AJ before she got that eye injury. But I'm sure her time will come. But nobody has been more over than Paige since...well, AJ.

More than half of the current Divas roster, namely Aksana, Alicia Fox, Brie Bella, Nicki Bella, Layla, Eva Marie, and Rosa Mendes, don't even deserve to get one minute of airtime for their in-ring action. They could take part in backstage vignettes, but even then, their acting is awful. I'm happy that the title didn't go to one of the aforementioned names, but for how long will it stay with the good-wrestler-divas?

Paige has the ability. I've seen the girl work in the ring and I've heard her on the mic. If they couple that and focus on the "Anti-Diva" character she's had in NXT, she'll work out great.

Considering that last night was the post WM Raw, unexpected things like that are...well expected to happen. It was the perfect atmosphere for Paige to debut on the main roster and make a big first impression for herself. Paige as champion is refreshing due in large part to the fact that we've seen AJ literally beat every other Diva on the roster for the better part of a year. With Paige as the champ and the mind set that the post WM Raw is sort of the start of the new calendar year, as far as wrestling goes in the minds of some fans, it's a good opportunity to start fresh with the Divas. When you look at the Diva Division, there's actually quite a good deal of wrestling talent among Tamina, Naomi, Cameron, Natalya, AJ, Emma, Alicia Fox, Layla & The Bella Twins. The Bella Twins have genuinely improved and they've worked hard to do so, I give them props for that, though I think they'll be feuding before long given what happened at WrestleMania. Summer Rae is coming along very nicely and she already has a great presence for herself. The rest of the Divas are dead weight and I think we MIGHT be looking at the beginning of seeing the Divas of the past, namely those who're there because they look great in skimpy outfits, being slowly phased out.

I thought Paige was terrible on the microphone. I have no idea why she started stuttering and then saying she wasn't ready. If they're going to give her a fluke Santino gimmick, I'm gonna be pissed as hell. She should've debuted as a Paul Heyman Gal.

I like that thinking Feedback. The good news is they can still do that because now, from an in-story perspective, Paige by winning the Divas title has shown enough to be worthy of being a Paul Heyman person (as opposed to being a NXT champion with potential).

I've loved Paige for months, she's great in the ring, great to look at, and at that age of 21, is well on course to be the greatest women's wrestler of all time. She's a wrestler through and through, unlike most other divas, and she comes from a wrestling family. It's in her blood. It's very unlikely that she'll leave to pursue other projects like so many other divas before her. So I'm glad she got called up last night, and I'm glad that she made such a huge impact.

The fact is, the divas division needed Paige, and AJ Lee needed Paige. Tamina isn't very good in the ring. Nattie has had enough chances at the title. Emma is being held back by Santino. Summer Rae isn't there yet, though she's getting there. And the Total Divas are individually and collectively useless. So you keep the best diva in the company relevant by letting her feud with the second best diva.

If the reports are true and Triple H wants to make the divas division something credible, this is how you do it. But please, get Emma away from Santino. And call up Bayley, cause that woman is gold.

Really weak debut for Paige. She looked like a scared little girl that had no business being on the roster, much less in the ring. Didn't really help that her title win looked like a total fluke.

I know she can do much, much better but Raw was a pretty terrible start for her despite getting the title. I'm really hoping for better things in the future, here's hoping we get to see it.

I must admit, I overlooked the Bella Twins.

I know they have been working hard, and I see that and respect that, I
guess I just have never felt that they were at the top level. But time can prove me wrong.

Alicia Fox is a personal favorite of mine, and she's got some damn fine moves, but it's like she can't get it together, or something.

I agree with mos of you that the debut of Paige was unexpected, but also kind of weak. But I think one could attribute that to nerves, while no excuse in the big time, I believe she will capitalize on it and make it hers, and having Paul pull triple duty and have her as a Heyman Girl would be interesting.

Here's a question.
Whether it happens this year or not, Emma vs Paige for the title has to happen.

Does Emma stay Face and Paige Heel? Or would they flip the switch??

Agree I didnt like her coming out looking timid, but judging by the reaction across the net and from some "legends" (Foley, XPac, etc), Paige made the impact they wanted and more.

Couple Questions for the Crowd:

So....youve got Paige, AJ, Natalya, Emma, Summer Rae, and perhaps Naomi as legitimate wresters.....and a ton of plastic barbie dolls on the Total Divas cast. So...if HHH wants a better Womens product, how do you split these two "factions" up and keep your show while having real wrestling again?

I would say possibly have her go back to NXT and have a little ceremony type deal, have her give her farewell address, and give up the title, and announce a NXT Women's Championship tournament for it, have Charlotte win that.

The whole thing was awful. Let's see if I can get this straight. Paige (the babyface) interrupts AJ (the heel), but when AJ challenges Paige to a fight she mumbles about how she's not ready. AJ ups the ante and puts her title on the line, and Paige is STILL begging out of the match. Out of a title match. For not being ready. While she's wearing her ring gear and after SHE was the one who interrupted the speech and marched into the ring.

Then the match happens, and the finish looked like Paige just tripped AJ and got an instant 3-count. I certainly hope that move was botched because it looked pathetic.

To me, a non-NXT viewer, Paige came off as a stammering, clumsy weakling. Why was she backing down from a challenge? It made no sense. It's not like it was hard to tell this story correctly - just have Paige act confident and ACCEPT the challenge from the heel! So weird.

No, Paige should drop the NXT Women's title in a match (where only that title is on the line). Preferably a screwjob finish where one of the BFF's wins after some interference by the other BFF. Then the new champ can get a ton of heat by walking around claiming she beat the WWE Divas Champ to win the NXT women's title. It would do a lot for Charlotte or Sasha's credibility to win the NXT women's title from Paige.

That may be, but don't you wonder how the other divas feel about the newcomer entering the fray one night after the biggest PPV of the year and taking the gold? Honestly, I have no idea whether this sort of thing means anything to them.....or if management simply explains: "This is the program & it's what we're doing" and none of the gals have anything to say about it.

Still, I was a little disappointed to see AJ retain; I think she's had the title long enough and there didn't seem to be much direction left for her as champion. Yes, there was an aborted "split" with Tamina, but we saw none of that at WM30, did we?

Looking at it in a positive way, maybe having this Paige person win the title will ignite a gainful program for the divas, with a host of ladies vying to take her title away. I'm hoping Paige's emergence will stimulate the whole division.....if that's even possible.

Sasha banks, Charlotte, alexa bliss, bayley and JoJo are the only 5 listed divas in NXT. Then their is Eden, who I think is Cody Rhodes' wife, Kendall Skye, who is currently used as a ring announcer, who is listed to have experience is multiple martial arts and finally Devin Taylor, who is handy at throwing a right hook supposedly.

So solution is to move some of the lesser talent back to NXT right. Use Raquel Diaz more, she's eddie guerreros daughter for gods sake. Give her a chance. She looks unreal as well.

Kendall Skye isn't ring announcing right now, Eden and Veronica Lane are, so Kendall is most likely training as a wrestler. Also, Emma is still part of NXT. When a wrestler gets called up they stay in NXT for a month or more after to keep training.

I don't know what WWE is thinking with Emma, she is so talented and the character could really catch on...but putting her with Santino was just...bad. I hope they don't drop the ball with her. Her and Paige could be the next Trish and Lita.

When Triple H takes over I hope the women will get a chance to really show what they have instead of..as Bill Demott puts it...wrestle like a girl and not outshine the men.

When you look at it this roster of women could be the strongest and most entertaining WWE has had if they use it properly.

Paige, AJ, Emma, Natalya, The Bellas, Charlotte and Summer Rae. I wish they could bring Kharma back to work with Emma and Paige.
