Song lyrics that make you think

HBK-aholic

Shawn Michaels ❤
I was listening to the Band-Aid Christmas song earlier, and a few of the words really stood out. "Thank God it's them, instead of you" is incredibly powerful. It makes you think about the fact that, yes, you are glad it's someone else. Which makes you question the type of person you are. If we were good people wouldn't we want others to be happy first? Is that what things should be about? It also makes you think that the people there may not be much different to me and you, and it's simply luck that we're so much better off.

Anyway, what lyrics have made you seriously think about something?

Well, anything from the album "The Mantle" by Agalloch is so beautiful and tranquill, which is something you would not expect for Progressive Black Metal. Everytime I hear that album, I can't help but sit back and just reflect on life. That album, and its beautiful compositions on both fronts, really changed my life.

'You Were But A Ghost In My Arms'

"Like snowfall, you cry a silent storm
Your tears paint rivers on this oaken wall. . .
Amber nectar, misery ichor
. . .cascading in streams of hallowed form
For each stain, a forsaken shadow

You are the lugubrious spirit
Etched in the oak of wonder
You are the sullen voice and silent storm

Each night I lay
Awakened by her shivering silent voice
From the shapes in the corridor walls.
It pierces the solitude like that of a distant scream
In the pitch-black forest of my delusion. . .

With each passing day, a deeper grave. . .

"Why did you leave me to die?"
"Why did you abandon me?"
"Why did you walk away and leave me bitterly yearning?"

Her haunting, contorted despair was etched into the wood's grain
Though fire rages within me, no fire burns fiercer than her desire
The shape whispers my name. . .

I damn this oak!
I damn her sorrow!
I damn these oaken corridors
That bear the ghosts of those I've thrown away!

Though tempted I am to caress her texture divine
And taste her pain sweet, sweet like brandy wine;
I must burn these halls, these corridors
And silence her shrill, tormenting voice
. . .forever. . .

Like snowfall, you cried a silent storm
No tears stain this dust in my hands
But from this ashen gray, her voice still
Whispers my name. . .

You were the lugubrious spirit
Who haunted the oak of wonder
You were the geist that warned this frozen silent storm
You were but a ghost in my arms"

....beautiful

The Dresden Doll's Half Jack, it's about being both of your parents regardless of whether you want to be. I have never met me Dad so it made me wonder how much of him is in me and how much of me is more my Mother due to being raised by her.

Half Jack

Half underwater
I'm half my mother's daughter
A fraction's left up to dispute
The whole collection
Half off the price they're asking
In the halfway house of ill repute

Half accidental
Half pain full instrumental
I have a lot to think about
You think they're joking?
You have to go provoke him...
I guess it's high time you found out

It's half biology and half corrective surgery gone wrong
You'll notice something funny if you hang around here for too
long ago in some black hole before they had these pills to take it back
I'm half jill
and half jack

Two halves are equal
A cross between two evils
It's not an enviable lot
but if you listen
you'll learn to hear the difference
between the halfs and the half nots

And when i let him in i feel my stitches getting sicker
I try to wash him out but like she said:the blood is thicker
I see my mother in my face
but only when i travel
I run as fast as i can run
but
jack comes tumbling after....

And when i'm brave enough and find a clever way to kick him out
and i'm so high not even you and all your love could bring me down
on 83rd he never found the magic words to change this fact:
I'm half jill
and half jack

I'm halfway home now
Half hoping
for a showdown
cause i'm not big enough to house this crowd
It might destroy me
but i'd sacrifice my body
if it meant i'd get the jack part OUT

see

jack

run.....

h, my, god. Becky, look at her butt.
It is so big. *scoff* She looks like,
one of those rap guys' girlfriends.
But, you know, who understands those rap guys? *scoff*
They only talk to her, because,
she looks like a total prostitute, 'kay?
I mean, her butt, is just so big.
I can't believe it's just so round, it's like,
out there, I mean - gross. Look!
She's just so ... black!

[Sir Mix-a-Lot]
I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get with you
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But that butt you got makes me so horny
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average groupie
I've seen them dancin'
To hell with romancin'
She's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your girlfriend got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)
Shake that healthy butt!
Baby got back!

(LA face with Oakland booty)
Baby got back!

[Sir Mix-a-Lot]
I like 'em round, and big
And when I'm throwin' a gig
I just can't help myself, I'm actin' like an animal
Now here's my scandal
I wanna get you home
And ugh, double-up, ugh, ugh
I ain't talkin' bout Playboy
'Cause silicone parts are made for toys
I want 'em real thick and juicy
So find that juicy double
Mix-a-Lot's in trouble
Beggin' for a piece of that bubble
So I'm lookin' at rock videos
Knock-kneeded bimbos walkin' like hoes
You can have them bimbos
I'll keep my women like Flo Jo
A word to the thick soul sisters, I wanna get with ya
I won't cuss or hit ya
But I gotta be straight when I say I wanna *fuck*
Till the break of dawn
Baby got it goin' on
A lot of simps won't like this song
'Cause them punks like to hit it and quit it
And I'd rather stay and play
'Cause I'm long, and I'm strong
And I'm down to get the friction on
So, ladies! {Yeah!} Ladies! {Yeah}
If you wanna roll in my Mercedes {Yeah!}
Then turn around! Stick it out!
Even white boys got to shout
Baby got back!

Baby got back!
Yeah, baby ... when it comes to females, Cosmo ain't got nothin'
to do with my selection. 36-24-36? Ha ha, only if she's 5'3".

[Sir Mix-a-Lot]
So your girlfriend rolls a Honda, playin' workout tapes by Fonda
But Fonda ain't got a motor in the back of her Honda
My anaconda don't want none
Unless you've got buns, hun
You can do side bends or sit-ups,
But please don't lose that butt
Some brothers wanna play that "hard" role
And tell you that the butt ain't gold
So they toss it and leave it
And I pull up quick to retrieve it
So Cosmo says you're fat
Well I ain't down with that!
'Cause your waist is small and your curves are kickin'
And I'm thinkin' bout stickin'
To the beanpole dames in the magazines:
You ain't it, Miss Thing!
Give me a sister, I can't resist her
Red beans and rice didn't miss her
Some knucklehead tried to dis
'Cause his girls are on my list
He had game but he chose to hit 'em
And I pull up quick to get wit 'em
So ladies, if the butt is round,
And you want a triple X throw down,
Dial 1-900-MIXALOT
And kick them nasty thoughts
Baby got back!

(Little in the middle but she got much back) [4x]

This helped me a lot through primary school when I was dealing with weight issues. Some biatch called Becky kept teasing me, and it was only when Sir Mix a Lot showed me that all body sizes are beautiful did I realise I was better than any of those girls. So big up Mr. Mix A Lot. Big Up.

The Stand (Man Or Machine) by The Protomen.

Tell me now. Is there a man among you here?
Is there no one who will stand up and try to fight?
Tell me Man, is there not one in all your ranks? Is there not one who values courage over life?

They looked to me once. Now they turn to you. Do you understand now?
Do you see that the truth is they don't want to change this?
They don't want a hero. They just want a martyr, a statue to raise

I've given every thing I can. There are no heroes left in man.

So it begins!

No matter which one of us lives, the ground we're standing on will crack and blow away.
You will fight. And when you fight, you'll fight alone. And in the end you'll see there was no other way

I've been here before. I've stood where you stand.
They called me their hero, The Hero of Man. But why should we save them
when they stand for nothing? If they deserve life, LET THEM STAND FOR THEMSELVES.

Weve given everything we can. There are no heroes left in man.
They'll watch you die to save their lives. They will not stand here by your side.

We've given everything we can. There are no heroes left in man.
So let them watch as we decide the very fate of all mankind.

The Protomen's albums are rock operas, and this is one of the most powerful songs, lyric-wise on their first album. This song, coupled with the next song, where the bloodthirsty crowd refuses to stand for themselves and screams at the main character to kill his brother, really makes me think about the state of humanity, and whether or not they are latently good or evil.

What I've come to conclude is that humanity is weak. This isn't a bad thing, I'm just saying we're easily swayed and scared. Easily controlled by a dictator. However, there are some out there who are willing to stand up and fight.

Both albums are very thought-provoking.

At the moment I'm listening to Goodbye and Hello by Tim Buckley. My thoughts, beyond the usual "What the fuck is he on about" and "This guy is a crazy genius" go to what a stunning song it is and how I didn't realise it until I actually had the lyrics written down in front of me. I'll show you because the structure is remarkable but you really need to listen to get the full effect.

---------------------------------------------------------------

The antique people are down in the dungeons
Run by machines and afraid of attacks
Their heads in the grave and their hands on their eyes
Hauling their hearts around circular tracks
Pretending forever their masquerade towers
Are not really riddled with widening cracks
And I wave goodbye to iron
And smile hello to the air

O the new children dance ------ I am young
All around the balloons ------ I will live
Swaying by chance ------ I am strong
To the breeze from the moon ------ I can give
Painting the sky ------ You the strange
With the colors of sun ------ Seed of day
Freely they fly ------ Feel the change
As all become one ------ Know the Way

The velocity addicts explode on the highways
Ignoring the journey and moving so fast
Their nerves fall apart and they gasp but can't breathe
They run from the cops of the skeleton past
Petrified by tradition in a nightmare they stagger

Into nowhere at all and they look up aghast
And I wave goodbye to speed
And smile hello to a rose

O the new children play ------ I am young
Under the juniper trees ------ I will live
Sky blue or gray ------ I am strong
They continue at ease ------ I can give
Moving so slow ------ You the strange
That serenely they can ------ Seed of day
Gracefully grow ------ Feel the change
And yes still understand ------ Know the Way

The king and the queen in their castle of billboards
Sleepwalk down the hallways dragging behind
All their possessions and transient treasures
As they go to worship the electronic shrine
On which is playing the late late commercial
In that hollowest house of the opulent blind
And I wave goodbye to Mammon
And smile hello to a stream

O the new children buy ------ I am young
All the world for a song ------ I will live
Without a dime ------ I am strong
To which they belong ------ I can give
Nobody owns ------ You the strange
Anything anywhere ------ Seed of day
Everyone's grown ------ Feel the change
Up so big they can share ------ Know the Way

The vaudeville generals cavort on the stage
And shatter their audience with submachine guns
And Freedom and Violence the acrobat clowns
Do a balancing act on the graves of our sons
While the tapdancing Emperor sings "War is peace"
And Love the Magician disappears in the fun
And I wave goodbye to murder
And smile hello to the rain

O the new children can't ------ I am young
Tell a foe from a friend ------ I will live
Quick to enchant ------ I am strong
And so glad to extend ------ I can give
Handfuls of dawn ------ You the strange
To kaleidoscope men ------ Seed of day
Come from beyond ------ Feel the change
The Great Wall of Skin ------ Know the Way

The bloodless husbands are jesters who listen
Like sheep to the shrieks and commands of their wives
And the men who aren't men leave the women alone
See them all faking love on a bed made of knives
Afraid to discover or trust in their bodies
And in secret divorce they will never survive
And I wave goodbye to ashes
And smile hello to a girl

O the new children kiss ------ I am young
They are so proud to learn ------ I will live
Womanwood bliss ------ I am strong
And the manfire that burns ------ I can give
Knowing no fear ------ You the strange
They take off their clothes ------ Seed of day
Honest and clear ------ Feel the change
As a river that flows ------ Know the Way

The antique people are fading out slowly
Like newspapers flaming in mind suicide
Godless and sexless directionless loons
Their sham sandcastles dissolve in the tide
They put on their deathmasks and compromise daily
The new children will live for the elders have died
And I wave goodbye to America
And smile hello to the world
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Now beyond the remarkable poetry, look at the choruses and you'll see there are 2 intertwined with each other. Buckley sings both, as read, in a way that's telling 2 stories of both the old and the young. I had this album for 2 years before I even realised it. Utter brilliance.

I sense that this probably isn't what HBKAholic was looking for in terms of answers. There are loads of songs that make me think but none really come to mind at the moment as I've not listened to any music in months.

Naveed by Our Lady Peace

Come come Naveed

Come come Naveed

Come come Stay

Come come Naveed

Come come Naveed

Come come Naveed

Are you there, and is it comfortable?
Did you want to escape, try to escape the population?
The pressure is deceiving,
For you particularly

To let a young man die?
Let him die if he wants to, die if he wants to

And I can't live here anymore
But it's hard when you reach for that floor
There's something that tears me inside, so I can't go

Brother are you there?
Now tell me is it wonderful
Or were you hoping to find, hoping to find, something a little more?

Climbing down the hours and I need to know now
Do the hands of time only rule this chapter

I'll have to try once again, oh oh

I'll let them try when I want to, try when I want to

And I can't live here anymore
But it's hard when you reach for that floor
There's something that tears me inside,

Oh I can't live here anymore, anymore, anymore

There he's on his knees again
Trying hard to understand
Why Naveed would let a young man die
Convinced that he might break he reaches for that phone
And then another day is gone

Oh another day is gone

Oh another day

Is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone, is gone

And I can't live here anymore
But it's hard when you reach for that floor
There's something that tears me inside,

No but I can't live here anymore

I can't live here anymore

I can't live here anymore

And I can't live here anymore

But I can't live here anymore, anymore

Come come Naveed

Come come Naveed

Come come Stay

Come come Naveed

Come come Naveed

Come come Now

Come on

Come come Naveed

Come come Naveed

Come come Naveed

come come now

come come Naveed

If your confused about the lyrics hes a quote from Raine Maida(lead singer) to explain a little bit

It's named after a friend of mine. His name is Naveed. He is Iranian and one day he told me the background (of the name) was a person referred to as a bearer of good news. The album title Naveed kind of ties in all the lyrics. 'Naveed' talks about someone scared to die, but at the same time interested in it. Naveed was playing with a gun and was unaware that one chamber within the gun contained a bullet. We took the concept of Naveed and placed it in the dark optimism of our music. We have forced Naveed to travel the distance between mysticism and bitter reality

Omerta- Lamb of god.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is
Either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of
Himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall
Say to his assailant, "If I live I will kill you, If I die you are forgiven,".
Such is the Rule of Honor.

Broken the paradigm an example must be set.
Invoke the Siren's song and sign the death warrant.
This is what has been wrought for 30 pieces of silver.
The tongues of men and angels bought by a beloved

Betrayer.

I am the result, what's better left unspoken.
Violence begins to mend, what was broken.
You've been talking, I've been all ears.

Words meant to dwell in darkness shall never see the light

Of day.
Words can be broken so can bones, execute the mandate.
Mouth full of dirt your name is removed from the registry.
St. Peter greets with empty eyes then turns and locks the

Gate.

I am the result, what's better left unspoken.
Violence begins to mend, what was broken.
You've been talking, I've been all ears.
Omerta.

Cheaply venal, stupidly verbose.
A slip of the tongue, a slit of the throat.
Six feet under with no marker.
Keep my name from your mouth forever.
Free speech for the living, dead men tell no tales.
Your laughing finger, will never point again.
Omerta.
Omerta.
Sing for me now.

I fucking love this song it really puts the people who've made fun of me in the past in their place for me. Its all about shit talkers and what you should do to them. They will set and talk but really will they stand up and fight? And if they do thats what they should get and no less because you should protect your honor.

You're All I Have by Silverstein is a song that really makes me think. It's basically a song about a guy who only has one person in a world that hates him, and thats all he has to cling on to life, and it makes you think about if you were in that position. Here are the lyrics-

I wake up in the afternoon
Empty walls make up the room
And I'm wishing for one thing
To give myself the strength to keep myself alive
Long enough to make sure you don't try
To turn out anything like me
Another fraud, another fake
Don't pretend you're not the one who's wrong

You're keeping me sane when I'm feeling alone
I wield my heart and my flesh and bones
Don't leave me to die by myself
I can't live without you

Saw my treatment through the blinds
Calling me from these confines
There's only so many more days
Until you're cast away from ever seeing me
They won't understand, they'll never see
The way you medicate my head
Without you here, I'm left for dead
Don't pretend you're not the one who's wrong

You're keeping me sane when I'm feeling alone
I wield my heart and my flesh and bones
Don't leave me to die by myself
I can't live without you
Without you here

You're all I have
In a world that judges long before it sees
You're all I have
In a place that hates me and only wants to
Push me down now I'm forsaken
Past the point I'll bend you'll break me
I won't be fine, you're all mistaken
Don't pretend you're not the one who's wrong

Don't you pretend it's gonna be okay
Don't lie and say it's better off this way
Don't pretend you're not the one who's wrong
You're not the one who's wrong
Don't pretend

You're keeping me sane when I'm feeling alone
I wield my heart and my flesh and bone
Don't leave me to die by myself
I can't live without you here (Don't you pretend, don't you pretend)
Without you here (Don't lie and say)

You're not the one who's wrong
You're keeping me safe when I'm feeling alone
You're not the one who's wrong
Don't leave me to die when I'm feeling alone
I can't live without you
Don't pretend you're not the one who's wrong

Hey, Never mind what haters say, ignore them 'til they fade away

Those lyrics helped me realize, fuck what other people think. No matter how much some hates on you, just bounce right back up and ignore them. You got your friends, family, girl friend/wife/ crush or what ever. And they all love you. So fuck the haters and ignore them.

[VERSE 1 - T.I.]

Hey, Never mind what haters say, ignore them 'til they fade away
Amazing they ungrateful for after all the game I gave away
Safe to say I paved the way, for you cats to get paid today
You'd still be wasting days away, now had I never saved the day

Consider them my protégé, homage I think they should pay
Instead of being gracious, they violate in a major way
I never been a hater, still I love them in a crazy way
Some say they so yay and no they couldn't get work on Labor Day

It ain't that black and white, it has an area that's shaded gray
I'm west side anyway, even if I left today and stayed away
Some move away to make a way not move away cause they afraid
I brought back to the hood and all you ever did was take away

I pray for patience but they make me wanna melt their face away
Like I once made them spray, now I could make them put their taze away
Been thuggin' all my life, can't say I don't deserve to take a break
If you ever see me catch a case, and watch my future fade away

[CHORUS]

(Hey, hey, yeah) You're gonna be a shining star (That's right)
(Yeah, okay, yeah) With fancy clothes and fancy ca-ars (Hey, hey, hey, yeah)
(See, yeah)And then you'll see, you're gonna go far (Go, hey)
Cause everyone knows (They know), just who you a-are

(Hey!)So live your life, (Ay!, Ay ay ay)
You steady chasing that paper
Just live your life (Oh!, Ay ay ay)

Just livin' my life (Ay!) (Ma ya hee)
My life (Oh!) (Ma ya haa)
My life (Ay!) (Ma ya hoo)
My life (Oh!) (Ma ya ha ha)

[VERSE 2 - T.I.]

I'm the opposite of moderate, immaculately polished with
The spirit of a hustler and the swagger of a college kid
Allergic to the counterfeit, impartial to the politics
Articulate but still would grab a ***** by the collar quick

Whoever having problems with, their record sales just holla Tip
If that don't work and all else fails, then turn around and follow Tip
I got love for the game but ay I'm not in love with all of it
'Could do without the fame and the rappers nowadays are comedy

The hootin' and the hollerin', back and forth with the arguing
Where you from, who you know, what you make and what kind of car you in
Seems as though you lost sight of what’s important with the positive
And checks until your bank account and you up out of poverty

Your values is a disarray, prioritizing horribly
Unhappy with your riches cause you're piss poor morally
Ignoring all prior advice and forewarning
And we mighty full of ourselves all of a sudden aren't we?

Cause everyone knows (They know), just who you a-are (Okay, now)

(Hey!)So live your life, (Ay!, Ay ay ay)
You steady chasing that paper
Just live your life (Oh!, Ay ay ay)
Ain't got no time for no haters
Just live your life (Ay!, Ay ay ay)
No telling where it'll take you
Just live your life (Oh!, ay ay ay)
'Cause I'm a paper chaser

Just livin' my life (Ay) (Ma ya hee)
My life (Oh!) (Ma ya haa)
My life (Ay!) (Ma ya hoo)
My life (Oh!) (Ma ya ha ha)
Just livin' my life (Ay!) (Ma ya hee)
My life (Oh!) (Ma ya haa)
My life (Ay!) (Ma ya hoo)
My life (Oh!) (Ma ya ha ha)

[VERSE 3 - Rihanna]

Got everybody watching what I do
Come walk in my shoes
And see the way I'm livin' if you really want to
Got my mind on my money, and I'm not going away

So keep on gettin' 'ya paper (Ah)
And keep on climbin' (Ah)
Look in the mirror (Ah)
And keep on shinin' (Shinin')
'Til the game end,
'Til the clock stop,
We 'gon post up on the top stop

Livin' my life (My life) (Ma ya hee)
My life (My life) (Ma ya haa)
Got a brand new CD (Ma ya hoo)
Got my whole team livin' life (My life) (Ma ya ha ha, ma ya hee)
My life (Ma ya haa)
I do it how I wanna do (Ma ya hoo)
I'm livin' my life (My life)
My life (My life)
I will never lose
I'm livin' my life
My life
And I'm not stoppin'

[OUTRO]

Ma ya hee, ma ya haa
Ma ya hoo, ma ya ha ha
Ma ya hee, ma ya haa
Ma ya hoo, ma ya ha ha

Ma ya hee, ma ya haa
Ma ya hoo, ma ya ha ha
Ma ya hee, ma ya haa
Ma ya hoo, ma ya ha ha (So live your life)

Coheed and Cambria: The Crowing

Coheed and Cambria is a band led by Claudio Sanchez, who have released Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3, Second Stage Turbine Blade, and No World for Tomorrow. This song comes from their second release, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3.

The CDs tell the story of Coheed and Cambria, two people caught in the midst of a universe ending war. Coheed is chosen as The Crowing, the person who will eventually end the universe. This song is Coheed coming to grips with his destiny, and promising to pay back the evil men who have destroyed his family and his home world.

I fed the clues of a lost day killed in motion
But I thought of it so like there's no other way it could've been done
Will they size my fit for a puzzle I wish not to play a part in it.
A heart stained in hate, a feeling of fear will play circles.

But you, you were my favorite
But you, you know, you were my favorite

I severed my ties to shroud this body under the streets of this city
And wait for the day when I am summoned to walk across the face
Well, slowly but clearer now, in visions that play and plague memories
I loved them with all as the son should to mother and father

But you, you were my favorite
But you, you know, you were my favorite

Would I walk through the door, shedding the light of all life?
With the rise and reform, would I come as before?
Pray you're not the only one
Pray you're not the only...
If given mistakes, would I take them back?
If erasing them could, if erasing them would
But would they be the words that I would say?
Your face and a door between
I've parted three ways
For you, the Newo that I love... love...

Did you ever really know before my face shamed to break?
Did you ever really know before my mind scared to think?
Did you ever really know before my name son to these?
Did you, did you, did you come clean in the end from the start?

Dear Ambellina, the Prise wishes you to watch over me
Dear Ambellina, the Prise wishes you to watch over me

I fought the decisions that call and lost
My mark has the revelant piece in this
I will come reformed
In short, for the murders of those I court
I bless the hour that holds your fall
I will kill you all!!

I will call you out from shelter (I will call you out)
burn your wings you'll know no better (burn your wings)
I will call you out from shelter (I will call you out)
burn your wings and learn their letters (burn your wings)

I will call you out from shelter (Dear Ambellina, the Prise wishes you to watch over me)
burn your wings you'll know no better (burn your wings)
I will call you out from shelter (Dear Ambellina...) (I will call you out)
burn your wings and learn their letters (...to watch over me)

I bolded the part that really matters to me. Not that I'm wishing to kill anyone, guys. Promise. It's more that that section is him coming to grips with a power that he didn't want, a destiny he didn't want to fulfill. He wanted no part of it at all. However, with that bolded section, he realized the need for himself in the grand scheme of things. He realized what he had to do.

And that, every time I listen to this song, is what it makes me do. It makes me reevaluate my position in my life, and accept what I have deemed to be my place in life. Or, if I don't accept it, it makes me come to a way of changing what is happening in my life and making my life into something I do want it to be.
