So much missed potential in Scott Steiner vs Goldberg

G.O.A.T.
I was just watching some of the feud that they had in the summer and fall of 2000 and these guys had a very compelling, real looking feud on their hands, definitely should have main evented at least one Starrcade and in my opinion, should have had a year long feud over the belt. Scott should have been pushed in 1998 in a parallel rise to the top of the card with Goldberg and he should have been the one to face and beat Goldberg at Starrcade that year instead of Kevin Nash. I have said on many occasions that Steiner should have been the one to hand Goldberg his first loss because Steiner as an unhinged lunatic with all that strength would have been the perfect foil for Goldbergs unstoppable monster, two titans that would never back down from each other, they could have been WCWs version of Stone Cold and the Rock...on steroids... What do you all think? Could this feud have elevated WCW in the post nWo era? Could they have held out longer against the WWF with a solid angle like this one?

Would have been an awesome feud, if only WCW booked it correctly.

I remember one episode of Nitro, i believe in Feb or March 1999, where Steiner cut an awesome promo with Buff Bagwell by his side, challenging Goldberg to a match. Great stuff. The match happened, it ended in a schmozz, but still a pretty exciting 8-10 minute match, with a hot crowd. Search it on youtube if its on there.

There's still plenty, PLENTY of hours of Nitro and Raw that i'm still waiting to be uploaded into the WWE Network (like the 2000- RAWs ) so hopefully this gem can be enjoyed by all of us.

By the way, Who else remembers Ric Flair vs Goldberg on Nitro back in Feb 1999????? Another epic promo that set this match up with Flair and Goldberg face to face

Their match at Fall Brawl 2000 was a true slobberknocker. Time Warner / Turner Broadcasting was shit scared of Steiner's unpredictability which is probably why he never went over until Mayhem. Goldberg putting his hand through the limo window killed a potential program. Vince Russo liked Steiner and had got WCW some ratings, but once Goldberg injured himself it killed a potentially company saving feud (for how long it would have saved them is anyone's guess).

I would have thrown Benoit in the mix there somewhere. Post NWO WCW didn't have a ton going for them at the time, but I definitely think their biggest assets were Steiner, Goldberg, Benoit, and Jarrett to a lesser extent (your hate keeps me warm).

Frankly, I'm surprised Steiner was never lured to WWE.

Agreed, they could have found great new blood in guys like Benoit, he is definitely a logical choice to convincingly battle guys like Steiner and Goldberg. That company had so much future potential its unreal; Benoit, Jericho, Giant, Eddie, Lance Storm, Booker T, Raven, Bagwell, Mysterio, Kidman, Konnan, Malenko, Mike Awesome, Alex Wright...the list could go on and on with guys they could have brought in like Brock and Cena to name a couple. Its such a shame that they couldn't see what was right in from of their faces

I liked WCW but they ruined a lot of potentialy great feuds and matches would loved to have seen Goldberg and Poppa Pump have a decent feud and other dream feuds like Hitman vs Sting they did wrestle but could have been used so much better, Even Nash vs Hall splitting the NWO never really went anywhere other than one forgetable match and Hitman vs Hogan, Goldberg vs Sting, Booker vs Hitman or Golderg vs Hogan is other ones off the top of my head that could have been great feuds.
