Smackdown Theme Song

3,000 Pound Gorrilla

Abracadabra homes
So, just watched my DVRed Smackdown and my son pointed out to me the new theme song. Which I had noticed (he's seven and was proud he noticed lol) but never really listened to. So, I gave it a good ear and heard the following...

Someone Said Your Feeling Green Tonight
Step Up
Do you Really Want To Cross The Line
Right Now
Go Ahead and Try To Take What's Mine
Let It Roll, Let It Roll I'm Unstoppable
Let It Roll, Let It Roll I'm Unstoppable
Let It Roll Let It Roll

Coincidence? Or a direct jab at TNA? Feeling green...feeling jealous. Step up... bring it (or course) Do you really want to cross the line... This is the most telling line. Cross the line being TNA's thing. Do you really want to watch TNA... I'm unstoppable... The "E" telling TNA what's up. Coincidence... or on purpose... you decide. And there you have it.

I noticed that when they first debuted that theme and I don't think it was a coincidence at all. I would find it really hard to believe that the line "Do you Really Want To Cross The Line" just happened to be there. I don't think that they were looking for a song with something like that but I do think they picked that song because of it.

I don't know. Not a coincidence or anything. It's just you, and maybe other people, over-thinking the whole situation. I don't think it was a jab at TNA at all. It's just a new, cool song they picked for Smackdown.

i noticed tht to the first time i heard it i thought i was jab at TNA but i really dont know but i think it could just be a good song tht happened to have tht line in there but then again it is VINNIE MAC so u never know

Total coincidence...TNA is no threat nor will it ever be until they bring in BARRON VON RASHKE.

Who the hell is BARRON VON RASHKE and why do you type it in every post you make?

But I never really noticed that until you pointed it out, thats kind of a pretty big coincidece if it was an accident. I really don't know if they are trying to be subliminal or what but it is pretty interesting either way.

Conspiracy Theories in Wrestling... I Love It!

Not going to lie, never noticed it until you brought it up.. but if that was intentional once Again Vinny Mac you sir are a genious.

The only thing that is making me think it's a coincidence is that its Friday Night SD! and not Raw. If they debuted that on the March 9th show I would of laughed my ass off.

Also the work "Unstoppable" appears a few time in the song and every time I hear that word in pro wrestling I think of Bobby Lashley who was the one of the biggest names on TNA the time this song came out. For realz though, I just think it coincidene but it still is a nice catch on your part.

it just another terrible new age rock theme that wwe seems to always use. while it is catchier than the raw theme its nothing like the themes back in the attitude era. i does seem to elude to tna but its proly just a coincidence. hasnt this been the newest song out of 4 or 5??! i just thought they changed the smackdown theme ??

rko for life :worship:

lol i have never really listened to the song but i can dif see why you think that it would be a pretty big coincidene but you never no maybe it is idk

Yea its a shot at TNA. There were many instances were WWE has mentioned TNA without saying TNA. Remeber when Christian returned on ECW. Matt Striker said that this moment was "Instantly Classic", Christan was called the Instant Classic in TNA. Stuff like this has been going on for years. TV history proves it. Newton Minnow said that TV is a vast wasteland during a speech. Well if you ever heard of Gilligan's Island, the boat that sunk was named the Minnow. Don't believe me, look it up.

Yes I'm sure Divide the Day (the band who's song it is) wrote that song exactly for the purpose of being the Smackdown theme song and wrote it with TNA in mind...so with that theory Nickelback wrote Burn it to the Ground specifically to be the theme song for Raw, but oh man it has to be a shot at TNA because they say they are going to "burn it to the ground"...does that mean Vince is going to go stand outside the Impact Zone with some gasoline and a match and literally burn it to the ground....yea I don't think so...it's a song and thats all it is

While I see your point (which is basically not to overreact) after viewing the lyrics of the SD song, it's pretty obvious that WWE picked this song because of those lines.

I mean, with all these new, modern rock songs (that all sound the f'n same btw) what would draw WWE to this song? It has to be the lyrics.

On top of that, how long is this song originally? Probably 3 to 4 minutes? I'd say so, so why then would WWE only pick the verses that mention "crossing the line" etc?

This has to be something done on purpose, without being too obvious, and I like that.

I noticed but never thought much of it. I listen to a lot of bands, including ones who have produced stuff for WWE. As far as this goes, it could be coincidental because I highly doubt Vince or Jim Johnston (The main music guy for WWE) would say take a shot at another company in the song. It fits into the lyrics, the band has control over the content of the lyrics, WWE generally picks unheard of bands or bands that aren't mainstream quite yet for shows, example American Bang who do the NXT theme.

RKO920, Nickelback's Burn It To The Ground had been out a long time before WWE chose to use the theme as well. They pick the more mainstream stuff for the flagship show, like Papa Roach beforehand with To Be Loved. It also doesn't fit into the shows as well persay, in Burn It To... they talk about demons, drinking, swinging from ceilings, the hell? That isn't wrestling lol, its just an opening theme for the intro, same goes with Papa Roach but I'd say To Be Loved fit in more in the tone of wrestling, but Burn It To... serves its purpose well and works well for Raw.

this was the theme song for a solid couple of months before January 4th. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be a jab at TNA. VM would rather pretend TNA doesn't exist rather than diss them.

I'm sure they didn't smart***

But I wouldn't doubt if someone in higher management heard it and said we may have something here...

Do you think Kid Rock made the song American Badass just because it was the Undertakers gimmick at the time.. Do you think any of the theme songs were written just for the star?.. of course not...

Way to try and sound like a stud and just making yourself sound like an ignorant 14 yr old.

Well you know TNA never invented the word 'Unstoppable or the phrase 'Cross the line'. I'm pretty sure if you go back through the last 20 years worth of wrestling you are bound to hear that phrase way before TNA used it as a slogan.
People are just looking way too much into this, why would they use this song on Smackdown if that was their purpose when the WWE flagship show is on Mondays alongside TNA!?

Whilst yes Vince has had a history of these things, such as changing Raw to Raw is War... in reference to its Monday Night War with WCW I don't see it being the case here. The phrase 'Cross the line' has many meanings and I really doubt it means crossing to the well... is it competition yet?

First off I thinks it's a good song, Have it on my MP3 player. I actually didn't really see it like that until this thread.
I think it could be or it can't be. You never know whats going on in Vinnys head so you just cant tell.
They never mention TNA so maybe this could be there way of saying it with out actually saying anything.

It is a jab. There's a hundred of songs out there that are way better than this, not to mention they house-produced a new theme for Smackdown less than a year prior to change it. You had an OK song for your show and it was brand new. Why the sudden change? Chris Jericho has been talking crap about TNA every chance he gets. He's the only WWE doing this and he's from Smackdown. That is probably a coincidence. The theme song? I highly doubt it. There was absolutely zero reason to change a theme song that wasn't even a year old.

All I'm saying is not to take it so literally, it's a theme song meant to get the feeling of the show, Raw being the flagship show goes with more of a mainstream song, while Smackdown has more upstart guys, yes there's stars on the show but more younger guys than Raw has, has a theme song by a band that not many people before it being on the show might have heard of...

Yes, Papa Roach was the theme song before, and if you look back at the previous songs mostly for Raw, it fits with the theme of the company at the time, the songs that were the themes during the Attitude Era were more edgy than the songs of today. Now that we are in the PG Era they go with a band like Nickelback, where they wouldn't be considered the worlds most edgy band, so the theme song fits the current situation, much like the song on Smackdown.
