Smackdown Crowds: Hot or Not?

The Brain

King Of The Ring
Being that SmackDown is a taped show do you think crowd noise is edited into the program? The SmackDown crowd seems to be very loud every week, but that's not always the case for Raw or ppv. I noticed this a while ago, but especially while watching the Hell In A Cell ppv tonight. R Truth, for example, always seems to get a decent reaction on Smackdown. Tonight the crowd was pretty much silent for him. It's possible that fans simply like what they're seeing on Smackdown better. I don't know if anyone on these forums would have actual knowledge of this. If so I'll get an answer and the thread will be closed. In the meantime what are your opinions?

Not hot from what I see.Raw in Chicago crowd was a real HOT crowd. No
Smackdown crowd as of late can compare.

They don't always edit in crowd noise. There's been some really dead crowds on Smackdown this year and last year too.

For example The Hart Dynasty/Cryme Tyme match in Canada not long ago
was very silent and that's surprising since The Hart Dynasty are Canadian.

Kane assaulting Khali drew no heat as well.Same for McIntyre attacking Haas.

I do think they some times enhance the entrance reaction for someone like
Morrison.

I remember reading a live report that said Morrison got little to no reaction and got outpopped by Finlay but when Smackdown aired Morrison's pop seemed louder than Finlay's.

And PPV crowds are normally smarky compared to regular TV crowds.

I would think that the WWE would take any and every chance they could to enhance their product in a way that makes it seem bigger than it is. Thats just the nature of the business, from what I have read in...I think it was Jerry Lawlers autobiography, the pop in the arena sets the tone of the show to the fans at home.

As such I don't see the WWE leaving anything to chance when they have canned Heat and Pop at the push of a button.

Yeah I think they do. Not that it's a bad thing, PPVs could do with some piped crowd noice.

Listen to John Morrison's reaction in comparison to another popular wrestler, it doesn't sound right.

I also find it funny how all those people cheer without their mouths moving.
