What are your thoughts on this? This should be awesome. While Raw was where the Attitude Era kicked off, in Smackdown's early days, the aftermath from Raw would usually play out on Thursday Nights. Then came the brand split. It got better then. We had guys like John Cena, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, JBL, etc. all on one show. It was great. Cena was there, in his full heel awesomeness. Lesnar was fucking shit up. And Undertaker had some of his greatest days. Then, after the last part of the Attitude Era left (The Rock), we were brought into a new era of Smackdown. Guys like Eddie Guerrero and Kurt Angle were on the brand, John Cena was rising, JBL was a great heel, and Undertaker was being Undertaker.

Then, Cena became champ, Batista and Cena switched brands, and you problably know the rest of what happened. Mysterio got a run, then Booker, then Batista, etc. The only fear I have with this DVD is that the WWE might try to erase some of Smackdown's history. With guys like Booker T, Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, Taz, Mick Foley, JBL etc. (who were all big parts of Smackdown's history, especially Taz, Foley, and JBL who were the voices of Smackdown at points in its history) not with the company anymore, who knows what they will try to do? How do you think this DVD is gonna turn out?

man are you kidding? I understand you're a great mark of Cena, but seriously lol....chill a little bit lmao, he wasnt THAT great...I mean he WAS better than he is NOW....thats for damn sure....but Smackdown started like 4 years before he even got in....but anyway, enough of that joke....whenever I think of SMACKDOWN, I think of someone who you did mention....Eddie Guerrero....holy crap, he WAS Smackdown...for the last couple of years he was alive anyway...but if you want to go further back, how about (what you mentioned) the good ol days of the Rock...hell, the hardy boyz...edge and christian...nobody comes close to Eddie Guerrero though, not only did he actually have a move set ( an entertaining one) but holy shit, he could make you love and hate him anytime....Brock Lesnar was another great thing that happened to Smackdown....and Kurt Angle, you can't NOT mention the greatness of Kurt Angle on smackdown, with team angle....ooh man, then PAUL HEYMAN as GM...wow great times, great times...dont get me wrong about Cena though, he really WAS entertaining, I used to LOVE when he came out in jersey's, freestyled, and told everyone they can 'suck on deez' (throws a bag of peanuts) haha, he was a great part of smackdown as well....now, he's extremely watered down..but this isnt about him...just smackdown overall used to be so great...now, I can't even sit through the whole 2 hours =/ ....who knows though, I MIGHT buy it.

funny how you can't sit through two hrs of Smackdown! when raw is Twice as bad lol!.. i remember i would watch SD! every thursday man, cuz i was broke and didn't have the cable or internet to watch raw so i just picked up SD and and that was my weekly wrestling show with an antenna on UPN... man i loved that show!.. Steph n heyman and edge, n Kurt, n Brock, n Rock, Eddie..And JohnCena was my faviortie mid cardder next to benoit.. SD! was good back then ... and i still think its the best show in wwe even now! edge n hardy are great!.. n HHH.. SD has alot of history n im glad i watched nearly every episode

I can definatley see myself ordering this when prices go down, thanks for reminding me guys

here some stuff thats supposed to be in it an it looks really good!.. stupid how striker is doin the commentary on this thing!!

I think the person that is being left out of this conversation is Edge. He single handedly kept that brand going, every major feud since i think 05 while he was healthy went through Edge with the only exception being the last month of hardy-punk. Seriously look at it, there was Edge-Batista, Edge-Rey, Edge-HHH, Edge-Hardy, and of course Edge-Taker, which if you don't forget was the show from November 07 - Summerslam 08. Edge's passion carried some pretty dull mid card times where the only feud i can remember is MVP-Matt. Of course after the brand split there are the times of Lesnar, Eddie, and the year reign of JBL, I think the dvd is gonna be sick, I hope the show some of the TNA guys who once carried the B show

I'm excited to hear that WWE is making a Smackdown 10th Anniversary DVD. But, you do bring up a great point in saying that WWE might take away great moments from people such as Booker T, Kurt Angle, Mick Foley, and Brock Lesnar. They did provide Smackdown with a lot of great moments and I would hate for WWE not to include them in it. I don't know whether that's the plan or not, but we'll see. But, now that you mention it, it reminds me of Chris Benoit. From the very first time that I watched Smackdown, Chris Benoit has always been considered one of my very favorite wrestlers and now that I know that WWE will not include him in any way, shape, or form in their history, it makes me sad. As Benoit was one of the greatest superstars WWE has seen, and gave us Smackdown moments that we can all remember.

UGH! Seriously, its going to be a Countdown DVD? I bought the TNA DVD that was a countdown one and it was horrible. When I heard they were doing a 10th anniversary DVD for Smackdown, I thought it was going to be similar to the 15th anniversary DVD they did for Raw. Meaning, a detailed history of everything from beginning to current.

Instead, apparently they're counting down the top 100 greatest moments Smackdown has seen. I'll wait until I pass full judgment when I buy and watch this DVD, but I have to admit my excitement has dropped almost half from what it used to be when I thought it was going to be similar to the Raw produced version.

I'm still excited for the matches, but why do I have a less than approving feeling that their countdown from 100-1, will be segment moments and not fully all there?? Like, for example, I see a couple "full shows" taking up selective spots. I doubt they'll run the full show, but instead a highlight reel from the show itself. Whats the point of that?

Also, does this mean the DVD won't include the entire first episode in its entirety - like Raw's DVD did?

i was thinking the same thing here's hoping that the matches and promo's etc are in full.
If you are looking to watch the first ever episode of smackdown im positive you can find the whole thing on youtube or dailymotion

UGH! Seriously, its going to be a Countdown DVD? I bought the TNA DVD that was a countdown one and it was horrible.

Thats because TNA sucks. :lmao:

But anyways I hope they have a lot of The Rock and classic Cena. PPl tend to forget that Cenas early heel promos was one of the best things going on in the business at that time.

It should be o.k, I'm not so high on it any more 'coz just like Will pointed out it's gonna be a count down. What a load of crap! The countdown should only be a feature IMO, and should have only the top 10 greatest moments you know since your celebrating the 10 YEARS of Smackdown. Overall I'm gonna buy it, because Edge and Eddie are on the cover. R.I.P. HOMES! VIVA LA RAZA!

I think if anything, they should go back to their Best of Raw numbers they did when they were in the F days. Basically they had about 2 hours of going through some thorough details of the main stories and particular segments going on each year, Vol. 1 1998, Vol. 2 1999, Vol. 3 2000. Naturally covering more ground, but it worked so well and it flowed. It even had Cole/Coach giving details of what was going on at the time, so you never got lost.

Why they're doing a countdown, I'll never know, it's meant to be the 10th Anniversary, not the 100 greatest moments!

You know, when I first started watching Smackdown on its debut,e I watched it all the time. I actually thought it was the better brand for a while at its beginning. The Rock's brand as I remember it. For a while, Raw was cut from my family's programing, at the same time Smackdown debuted (maybe that was why), but for those months I was hooked. As WWE does not do series sets, I will love to get this DVD to relive old Smackdowns.

I was just thinking the other day when watching Smackdown that it's been on for 10 years now, had no idea they would release a DVD for it but I'll get it for sure as Smackdown has had alot of great moments over the years.

I actually liked the TNA countdown DVD, so I guess I'm in the minority.

I always loved Smackdown more than RAW. Probably because I didn't have cable and could only watch Smackdown. :lmao: But regardless, I remember all the countless Smackdown moments I watched. I cannot wait for this DVD. It's gonna be badass, i'm not even trippin' over them screwing anything up. I love Smackdown. I'm definitely gonna try and be one of the first's to get my hands on it.

Honestly they talked about best moments and most unpredictable ones and on there you have Al Snow and Steve Blackman? Really? I will tell you the one moment that they needed on there because to me it was just special....Al Snow eating Pepper...Seriously the whole rivalry between the Big Boss Man and Al Snow would've been crap if he hadn't eaten his own dog I think they even did a pepper on a pole match, now c'mon thats just great television.

Got my dvd today if you wanted to know matches are full and some segments are full the interviews are shit and stupid they seem so forced and are in kayfabe so you dont get any real views on the segment or the matches but the content is good i will give this DVD a C+

I am very happy with this DVD. I mean it has over 10 years of outstanding Smackdown moments and matches. It looks like a very interesting DVD. I reckon this will sell very well and we can all see Smackdown at a time it was doing so well.

You also have to remember that Benoit was part of SmackDown, and had some big moments, such as winning the U.S. Title from Mr. Kennedy in 2006. The WWE has deleted all video of Benoit, so he won't be on the DVD.

This should be a pretty entertaining DVD. I will definatley be purchasing this, everything from 99 to now has been great. I've always loved Smackdown and still think it's better than Raw (at the moment).

Just thinking back on some of the moments is great, Kurt, Edge, Jeff, Taker, Guererro, Benoit... Fuck, the list is endless, Rock, Lesnar etc. Damn!

The list of moments looks pretty good, really looking forward to this.

You also have to remember that Benoit was part of SmackDown, and had some big moments, such as winning the U.S. Title from Mr. Kennedy in 2006. The WWE has deleted all video of Benoit, so he won't be on the DVD.

That's actually not true. Originally the WWE began editing every piece of footage Benoit was ever featured in (which made watching old Nitro's on WWE 24/7 almost pointless) but sometime last year I believe they decided that they would no longer edit everything Benoit was in. They're only going to edit it if Benoit was the main focus of an angle; but if say, they wanted to use a promo from the Four Horsemen in WCW in 1997 which featured Benoit, they'll allow that now, because Benoit isn't the main focus.

This DVD set WILL feature Chris Benoit!

The TLC III match involving Benoit IS included on this set. Here's a listing of the 100 greatest Smackdown moments that will be featured on the DVD:
