Sloppy Execution

TKO 3:16

Occasional Pre-Show
Watching WWE NXT, and I wanted to start this thread last week but I wanted to see if THIS would be cleaned up.
YES, they are ROOKIES, but c'mon, how many "botched" spot are we going to see. Of course I would leave Danielson out of this, but is it just me or do all the rest of the rookies look "bad" in the ring?
I love the concept of the show and think that WWE is doing a great job, but isn't FCW supposed to make sure these guys are GOOD when they get to "primetime"? To me there are just way to many flaws and mistakes in NXT matches to even take some of the rookies seriousley. Yes, I know it is the 1st season, but AGAIN I stress that these guys should have been T.V. Ready.

Its not like there doing moves that are complicated, I just seen Otunga Botch a back body drop because he didn't lift right. Sloppy execution if you ask me.

Cut them some slack. These guys are nervous. For most of these guys they have never been in front of so many people on National Television. Daniel Bryan has some experience on television is why he doesn't botch so much. David Otunga has been in front of cameras but he hasn't been wrestling that long. Wade Barrett or Justin Gabriel doesn't botch much either. We really haven't seen much of Tarver, Sheffield, Slater, or Young to really know. You have to give these guys time to adjust to the bright lights before you judge them.

ill agree and disagree with you.

ill agree that i have seen more botches than i would expect from these guys, but there havent been all that many. yes, otunga botched the back body drop, but he saved it very well, imo.

ive seen every person in the wwe botch something. remember when christian slid off his opponent when chocking the guy out with his feet pressing against the guys neck against the rope? yet what did he do, he saved it, kind of, with his little slap thing.

imo, everyone is going to botch a move once in a while. not everything can click all the time. what matters is whether or not they can save the situation and turn it into another move. ie, in that same match, r-truth did a closeline onto the miz, i believe, could have been bryan, and then accidently fell, but he turned it into a pin.

when i think screw up, i think of wrestlers not being able to continue forward and save the match. if wwe, wants to still have some realism, i actually think a botch every now and then is a good thing, because it shows more on the spot decisions and realism, but the characters should not break character and should just continue trying to win.

and in responds to your claim that they should be tv ready. nothing will get you tv ready except being on tv. even if you have been in the business as long as bryan danielson, knowing that millions are watching you is going to get to your nerves.

maybe if they are still making the same mistakes a month or two from now, then your point will be valid (im not bashing your point, its just my opinion.) but until then, we got to cut all these guys that are going for their dream some slack.

Why exactly would you "leave Daniels out of this"?

Is it because he has been around the indy promotions for a long time. Or is because he doesn't do any botches? Or is it just the fact that you like him. Either way, Daniel Bryan is just as culpable as any other rookie in that ring. In fact, the person who I have seen botch something the most out of anyone is Daniel Bryan. I like Bryan but you cannot just leave him out this discussion because he has been a round for a while. All of the guys in the ring (rookies) are trying to do something that they probably have dreamt of doing for years. This is it. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for them and if you think that they are not nervous or anxious to get everything right, to a point where they botch a move, then you are sorely mistaken.

Your point about the wrestlers looking "bad" in the ring is also misplaced. I think that a lot of them could have a big WWE future ahead of them and some of them even look like stars now. I am looking at David Otunga and Justin Gabriel as those men who really look as though they have what it takes to go the full way. Of course, all of the men involved in NXT have that same opportunity and I haven't seen anything except a couple of botches that would lend itself otherwise. This is not sloppy execution. This is a mix of nerves and poor experience levels. You don't see Cena or Triple H botching a back body drop because this is the bread and butter stuff to them. Soon enough, all of this will come naturally to them and the botching will be all but gone.

Yeah, I have to agree that botches will happen. It's how you cover that botch that makes it really bad or just "whatever".

BTW, the botched back body drop between Otunga and Miz may have been partially Miz's fault. Looking at my avatar it's clear that I'm not being biased against Miz. But it looked like he may have jumped a bit early. David seemed to be moving his hands up to Miz's mid-section, but Miz jumped a split-second early so Otunga couldn't execute the move.

Just seemed like a miss-communication more than a true eff up.

I'm still not quite clear on the names, but whoever CM Punk's rookie is...whatever he calls his finishing move...it looks like a messed up version of Flip Bottom or C4 or whatever Burchill used to do. The first time I saw him do it on Otunga, I thought it was a one time thing, then the second time, I realized it WAS the way the move is done. That is TRULY HORRENDOUS execution. Not only that, that type of move can do some serious damage if someone doesnt' fall right.

I'd like to point out something that might not have occurred to those here: isn't it possible that the rookies aren't wrestling to their full potential because they are supposed to be putting over that they are rookies? I mean, if one of them were to come out and actually look better than their pro, it would definitely reflect badly on the already established guys. It's my belief that the rookies are over-playing their "greenhorn" status purposely in order to put this aspect of the show over.

That being said, I'd like to say this in favor of Justin Gabriel: who else in the modern WWE is willing or able to do a 450 splash? Not all of the rookies are sloppy, but I'll agree that enough are botching spots to make it noticeable, and I think this is on purpose.

Huh? That move is nothing like the C4, like at all. Young's move is a full nelson lift into a reverse STO of sorts. The move is also done by indy wrestler Johnny Gargano. I believe he calls it the Hurts Donut.
Also, ANY move could do some serious damage if someone doesn't fall right.

Anyways...all the rookies are kinda botchy. It does seem as if they are actually improving week after week. The only rookie I haven't really seen botch is Wade Barrett. Bryan Danielson has botched repeatedly, but as I said all the guys seem to be improving each week,
