Corey Taylor is one of the most gifted singers in the modern era. He got big with Slipknot, and made it even bigger with Stone Sour. So my question is which of his bands do you prefer? Slipknot or Stone Sour?

I personally think that Stone Sour is the better band. Corey gets to show off his singing ability more in Stone Sour, and they have more melodic music, as opposed to thrashing and cookie monster vocals like Slipknot.

All the haters, that don't like either band, don't bother replying. This thread is for fans only.

While i am not a Big fan of either, I am a fan of slipknot. Songs like Wait and bleed, People=Shit etc. Would have to be some of my top favourite songs ever. while there is the obvious reason that Stone sour wouldnt be around if it wasnt for Slipknot, I just think that Slipknots songs are better. I think stone Sour's Music is just a ripp of off Slipknot a second copy if you must. And the second copy is never as good as the original

I think you're thinking of Korn. I don't recall Slipknot ever doing a cover of "Another Brick in the Wall". An honest mistake.

If you actually listen to both, there's a pretty big difference in the style of music they play. Stone Sour is a more soft, melodic sound compared to Slipknot's loud, thrashing, nu-metal. I encourage you to give a listen to both bands before voting.

Here's a list of songs from both bands to give a listen to:

Slipknot:
Wait and Bleed
My Plague
People=Shit
Duality
Before I Forget

Stone Sour:
Bother
Through Glass
Made of Scars
Sillyworld
Zzyzx Rd.

Give a listen to those, and tell me they sound the same. If you think so, you might need your hearing checked. lol

Oh for fuck sake do some god damn research, Stone Sour was around before Slipknot, Slipknot started out as a side project while Stone Sour was trying to get signed, Slipknot just happened to get signed first, and Stone Sour sounds completly different than Slipknot, so I can't see how you can possiably say they're songs are just rip offs, especially WHEN THEY ARE WRITTEN BY THE SAME FUCKING PERSON!!!, Corey Taylor writes songs for both fucking bands, your statement is completely and totally false

That aside I actually created this exact same thread awhile back, and basically what I said back then is this...

For me it really depends on what kind of mood I'm in, when I'm angry or just having "one of those days", then their is nothing better than throwing in some Slipknot an just letting all the anger and pent up frustration out, but for any other time Stone Sour is good, and for me right now I've been listening to alot of Stone Sour, mostly their Live In Moscow disc, so right now I'd have to go with Stone Sour, though I have recently got a copy of Slipknots Live 9.0, and have to say that those two discs will definetly be getting some play soon since we are getting busy at work and things are sure to get frustrating in the near future

btw Slipknot: Live 9.0 is a must buy, once you listen to it you'll probably never listen to the other three previous albums, their live shit is by far better than their studio work, and the same goes for Stone Sour and their Live In Moscow album, which is only available through iTunes

I'm a fan of both. I prefer Stone Sour to Slipknot as I enjoy lighter soundng music. Stone Sour to me is heavy but yet very easy to listen to. I like their songs better than I do Slipknots, but Slipknot has some amazing songs as well, with my personal favorites being Wait and Bleed, and Duality. Both really good bands in my opinion but my mood usually has me listening to Stone Sour.

I used to be on the border line with this one. Both bands have their own separate styles and Corey Taylor is a fantastic voice. But Slipknot's new album just made my decision. It's nothing like their 1999 album but at least its better than The subliminal verses.

I am a bit of a fan of both. The tie breaker for me is the song "Wait and Bleed." For some reason, everything about that song makes me happy, angry, sad, aggressive and euphoric all at once.

That song has been the soundtrack to some of the best times of my life.

Im chosing Slipknot over Stone Sour as I am a fan of heavier music.

I also think Murderdolls(Joey's band) are more entertaining than Stone Sour.

As for the new album, it is nowhere near the first album, but it mixes some slower songs with the evil, hardcore stuff. And yuou know what, its a damn good album. Thier is one poor song (Butchers Hook) but rest are top draw. I just wish there was 14 songs on it instead of 12!

As I am also not into the more heavy music, I pick Stone Sour. When I was younger I loved "Bother", it was always included when I need to listen to something relaxing. Only recently have I started to listen to Slipknot, and I must say, they aren't as bad as I used to think. But then again, I like a lot of their quieter songs over their loud ones. Corey is a talented musician, I just cannot see him being as remembered as other musicians because of bands like Slipknot and Stone Sour never reaching the height they should have.

I was never a fan of Slipknot, or any of their songs. To me they were that scary band and that's all. I'm a huge music buff but couldn't name one song that they did. StoneSour on the other hand, I enjoyed and found them more mellow compared to Slipknot. I actually know some of their songs and actually really like one(through the glass)which was actually a pretty big hit.
