Slammiversary IX: Sting/Anderson? Or King Of The Mountain?

Following Lockdown, "anonymous sources" are telling us that Matt Morgan may be re-inserted into the main event. I doubt this has anything to do with his promo at the show, but none the less. This along with the unresolved conflict between RVD/Sting/Anderson leads me to believe they'll still be strong in the title picture. Add to that, AJ Styles returning. Skip a month for him to squash Bubba and I'd say we have about 5 guys gunning for the title. Not to mention Jarrett and Angle. However. I say however. There's still a pretty deep feud between Anderson and Sting that is reaching pretty personal levels. And what happened at Lockdown may only make it worse. With that in mind, I must ask. What would be the best course of action heading into TNA's 9 year anniversary? Should we finally get Sting vs Mr. Anderson? Or should King Of The Mountain return? And if it does return, who in Immortal will be involved/turn in their favor?

IMO Sting/Anderson for the title, one-on-one, is the best possible course of action for TNA to take here. The story between the two, albeit involving RVD as well, has been too well built for too long to simply inject more competitors into the scene leading to even more more three and four-way matches (or worse).

The best possible thing to do for that title right now is to give Sting a chance to defend it where the only way he can lose it is by being pinned by his opponent directly.

Sting v. Anderson: Slammiversary IX.

I sincerely hope not, because this match will be absolute dogshit, like all of Sting's matches have been over the last year or so. Throw in someone as mediocre as Anderson and things get even worse. If this is seriously the big main event for one of their biggest shows of the year, that's pathetic. There is seriously NO REASON for Sting to have the title right now. It made sense in March when there was a renewed interest in him, but that's long gone now and all we're left with is a world champion who can't even work a 10 minute match and who doesn't put over a single person. This title reign isn't helping TNA, it's not helping the roster, the only person it's helping is Sting, and he doesn't need the help. The belt should have been taken off of him at Lockdown honestly.

Shit like this is what just baffles me about this company. They build up to these "big" matches, only nobody wants to fucking see them. Anderson vs. Sting isn't exactly going to set a buyrate record, and the whole rumors of Sting vs. Hogan later in the year is even worse, don't even get me started on that. Why the fuck aren't talented guys wrestling in the main event over the title? Guys like Styles, Daniels, Joe, etc. These are the people the fans want to see in the main event, not fucking Sting vs. Anderson.

This match will suck if it happens. Really, REALLY suck.

I'm personally a fan of King of the Mountain matches. I was actually kind of disappointed when they didn't have one last year b/c it clearly would've been better than what Sting vs RVD was. King of the Mountain has become a major part of Slammiversary and I see no reason for that to change. I would love for AJ to become a part of the match along with Jarrett, Daniels, or Morgan. Besides, Anderson vs Sting can still happen at Sacrifice before then.

Whoever dropped the King of the mountain gimmick should be fired. Anderson vs Sting wont make a good match, just like RVD and Sting's match last year.

So King Of The Mountain then, right? But yeah, I gotta agree about how TNA builds big stories but the matches themselves don't seem to click well. I'd honestly prefer King Of The Mountain. They simply can't keep Fortune away from the World title picture. And it may be very interesting to see a few Immortal guys vs a few Fortune guys vs Sting and Anderson all for the World title. Best move for all stories right now. I'd rather have Sting vs Anderson at Sacrifice if it does happen. Lesser PPV but still on PPV.

They should have a one on one match for the title at Slammiversary. Mr Anderson vs Sting is a fresh feud and with the right build up it could be interesting. Some of the gimmick matches that TNA used to have are just stupid like "King of the Mountain" or "Feast or Fired" match. I wouldnt be apposed to having a Money in the Bank type match for #1 contendership.

I would love to see the return of the King of the Mountain match. But I don't think we're going to get one. Plus, with the people in the main event scene right now, I don't think a King of the Mountain match would be the most exciting match. They've given Sting and Anderson too much build not to blow it off here. I'm not sure how good of a match it would be, but it is what they've been building towards, so it only makes sense to have Anderson finally win the title here.

But that doesn't mean we can't get a King of the Mountain match. Why not have one for one of the other belts? They had one for the X Division Title in 2009, I think, so it's not unheard of to do it. They could easily do it with the X Division again. I think a tag team King of the Mountain would be interesting to see how the teams would work together. There could also be a number one contenders King of the Mountain where the winner gets the title shot at a time of their choosing or something like that.

So, it is possible to have both Sting and Anderson meet one-on-one as well as have a King of the Mountain match.

LOL I was just going to make this thread but glad to see you made it already. I would have to go with Sting vs. Anderson. I'd love to see King Of The Mountain return but they've been building up to Sting vs. Anderson for some time now, so it's only right they settle the score on one of TNA's biggest PPV's. I love long build ups, gets you anticipated and it gets you to take a rivalry seriously unlike last years Slammirversary main event where they just threw Sting & RVD together after a few weeks. And some people like to call Anderson the next Austin which I think is absurd but I can see why people would make the comparison, so the match would be a version of Austin vs. Sting which we never got to see the real version of.
