Interesting. From what i understand Griffin was set to fight Thiago Silva, but i guess with the recent lackluster performance of Anderson, they want him to get a fight as soon as possible. Probably to try and remind all that Anderson should still be kept in pound for pound best fighter consideration. Griffin is practically tailor made for Anderson. Griffin is aggressive and comes forward. While Anderson likes to feel out his foe and counter. Though i don't expect Griffin to go in wildly swinging. Griffin has always been a smart striker, who comes in with good game plans. I would really love for Griffin to get the upset in this fight, but i see Anderson getting the KO in round 2 or 3. Who knows though, perhaps Griffin can strike smartly and keep himself safe for the UD. Should be a damn good fight.

I am very excited for this fight. I don't think it'll last very long, but while it does... it should be some of the most exciting, brutal action we've ever seen in the Octagon (sort of like Anderson Silva's fight against Chris Leben... only a bit longer and not so one-sided).

Forrest Griffin really doesn't stand a chance, though. He'll land a couple of good shots and will be able to take some of Silva's best blows, but eventually... he'll get finished. Forrest just doesn't have the knockout power to put KO Silva, and he's not skilled enough on the ground to finish him, IF he were able to get it on the ground in the first place, which I don't think will happen anyway so it’s irrelevant. I say Silva puts Forrest out mid-way through the second round.

But yeah... at the end of the day all I can say is great job UFC. They needed a way to get the news away from Anderson Silva's last fight and there was no better way to do that then to sign a fight everyone knows has the potential to be one of the most exciting fights in history. Forrest will bring it and give everyone a show, and Silva will be at his best against a person like that. How can a fan not look forward to this?

finally someone who will put silva to the test and i can't wait to see this fight and really see what silva is made of because forrest will bring it and don't think silva can handle his size

It's about time. It's obvious that Silva will only fight when he feels he has a challenge on his plate. I don't blame him, but fuck, if you're going to face weak opponents, finish them quickly and get it over with. I think part of the blame for the last two Silva fights has to go to Dana White. Dana knew he had a star in Silva and people love to see him fight, so why not throw him in with tough competition and make big money on fights like Silva-Griffin or Silva-St. Pierre. That just boggled me why Silva made a name for himself and then was given shit competition immediately after.

That being said, I'm excited for this fight, and I think Silva will dominate Griffin. Griffin somehow got passed Rampage Jackson, though not without controversy. He had a hard time with Rampage, and Silva is a far more polished fighter than Jackson is. I think Silva will take him out in the 2nd round, or possibly the beginning third round. Griffin is a solid all around fighter, but he doesn't possess the power to knock out Silva, nor does he have the mat skills capable of handling Silva. But then again, Griffin has pulled upsets off before, so he works well when he's the underdog. But this is different, Silva will be revved for this match and will bring everything and the kitchen sink at Griffin. He has too much offense for Griffin to overcome, and Griffin had problems with Rashad Evans. I don't think Evans is nearly as good as Silva either.

So long story short, Silva should take this, and hopefully they keep giving him big name fights to challenge him.

Silva vs Griffin = Hell Yeah.

Griffin is coming off injury and losing his title with a chance to make a HUGE comeback and he strikes me as the type of guy who will use that to push himself to the limit. Not that he needs extra motivation for a fight( he has more heart than rush limbaugh has chins) but having this type of opportunity makes him even deadlier in my opinion.

However, Anderson Silva is....how do I put this? Oh yeah he's Anderson Silva. Not everybody gets compared to Tyson in his prime. Seriously, he's shown he can knock you out, submit you or just outpoint you for 5 rounds. As tough and skilled as Griffin is I just can't bet against Silva until someone gives me a reason too.
