Sick of Tommy Dreamer?

I just can't take him seriously, mainly because his last match in WWE was against Zack Ryder, Zack Ryder, a guy who is in jobber status at the moment , and I am to buy that Tommy Dreamer can contend with AJ Styles arguably the company's greatest talent.

As other's have said Dreamer can help talent in a backstage role, not on screen

LMAO I have honestly never seen the phrase "cut his face" used so often. But this thread does seem like fun so I'll partake.

I hate his bald spot. I hate his outfit. I hate his winy promos. I hate the fact he always loses yet inexplicably gets title shots. I hate how slow he moves in the ring. I hate how fat his ass is. I hate that that might be the reason he moves so slow in the ring. I hate his E C W taunt. I hate his finishing move. I hate the fact that he finds it okay to have another man make him bleed like a stuffed pig right in front of his young children. I hate how he trashes a company that kept him employed despite his complete lack of talent. I hate that he's still on my tv screen.

But I do respect that he is willing to take Dixies money. Every other washed-up has-been is getting a piece of the pie so he might as well take a slice too.

No I do not hate Tommy Dreamer. I am glad he is on TV. He deserves to get a good last push. I was happy he got the belt in WWECW and the EV2.0 angle has made me excited to watch TNA when I get home on my DVR. I think it spiced things up in TNA a lot....

I'm just not too sure what the point is in having the feud with EV2.0 AND Hogan's group? I think they should have finished off ECW and got some heat from that and then used it on Hogan's group after?

I'm pretty sure they are just having Tommy do the talking that they had planned for Heyman anyway. Soon enough most of these guys will be off TV soon anyway. I think more people should just enjoy this angle for what it's worth and know that if you hate EV2.0 I'm sure they are using them to get Fortune over anyway.

Dreamer is 100% the person that should be talking for EV2.0 and he does a fine job doing it.

He's a lifetime jobber on the downside of his career that has lost twice as much than he has ever won...and some of you guys dont mind seen him been put in a program with what some people consider the best wrestler on the planet in what is probably this companies biggest angle! Some of you guys have really low standards

I remember the first post when the fans were concern about his in ring ability and there were those who said he was injured and others said ring rust, come on you can spot a wrestler who very rusty in the ring like Tommy Dreamer. I respect him for everything he has done for ECW but he is not making it believable to us that he can really still pull it off in the ring, i mean since when he change his ring attire?? if ya'll notice some of the guys of former ecw stars can't wrestle a good match without weapons in the ring. I am not bashing Tommy Dreamer or anything, but like i said before we can spot ring rust when we see it on television

"Lifetime jobber"? He's not a main event player, and I don't think he fits the role that TNA is using him in, but this is a guy who main evented ECW pay-per-views when ECW was still hot. Was he ever a Top Guy in the big two? No, but Barry Horowitz was a lifetime jobber. The Brooklyn Brawler was a lifetime jobber. (And what's with the use of the word "jobber" in such a negative context? Without people willing to "do the job", professional wrestling becomes WCW circa 1999.)

Now I'm sure while you're drinking Grand Marinier in that giant mansion you live in, I'm not sure that quite qualifies you to determine who should or shouldn't be collecting paychecks that are offered to them. Professional wrestling is a business, or a job, like any other. If an employer says "we'd like to give you a bunch of money to do....", you don't sit there and go "jeez, I'm at the tail end of my career with a couple of years, tops, left in the ring, but fuck it- I don't need money." You take the job. When you go out looking for work, do you say "you know, thanks for the job offer, but I saw some fresh faced kid waiting for his interview while I was talking to you- give the job to him"?

Enough with all this talk about who "deserves" the job. The guy who deserves it is the guy who GETS the job.

And please, what are you going to do, call out a hit on someone who pokes fun at your internet posts? Give him a glass of scotch and a fat, dumb friend, Rhino would work, that will follow him around and do what he says. He's always been like how he is currently and now suddenly you all hate him? In reality many many wrestlers have praised him and looked up to him through out their careers. People have nothing but good words to say and this comes from some of the most recognized wrestlers ever in the business. IE HBK etc.

It's not his fault TNA management went with the whole hardcore idea and signed him. They could have said no and he wouldn't be in TNA, but he is and now he's rolling with it. If you don't like his character fair enough, but you have no right to attack him as a person. (Some of you are) He's a nice guy. I respect him for what he's done over his career and you all should do the same.

I do hate tommy dreamer and I'll tell you why exactly his "Title" run in ECW was a joke it was just sad the bookers or who ever decides who gets a title they must have giving Dreamer the ecw title just out of pitty.

To some degree, I'm of two minds on this.

On one hand, I've never been a fan of Tommy Dreamer. I think most of the wrestlers from ECW were and remain to this day overrated and Tommy Dreamer is right there near the top of the list. There's just nothing remotely special about Dreamer at all. He's ridden the overly inflated reputation of ECW throughout his career and continues to do so to this day. Now, do I think that Tommy Dreamer might be a helluva guy in real life? Yeah, probably so but I really don't care about that. That's got nothing to do with whether or not I have any desire to see the guy as part of a major wrestling angle.

I think a perfect example of why so many people aren't all that excited at the prospect of a feud between Fortune and EV2.0 took place last Thursday between Beer Money and the FBI. The FBI are an example of the talent that fans are supposed to be excited about in a feud facing Fortune? Hey, if that flops your mop, then more power to you I guess.

Now, all that being said, I have to look at it from this point of view. If Dixie Carter is willing to shell out money for guys like Tommy Dreamer, then I can't necessarily say I hold that against Dreamer. Dreamer was looking for a job, Dixie Carter was foolish enough to pay the guy. Now, that still doesn't mean that I care about watching much of anything to do with Tommy Dreamer, but I can't hold Dixie Carter's idiocy against him.

Granted, Tommy's shtick is that of the big hearted, never say die ECW godfather leading the troops in this EV 2.0 vs Fourtune. Now, we all know his skills may sometimes leave a lot to be desired. But you gotta remember, most people know his for that tenacity, that spirit, that determination. Just because he's lost quite a few matches, doesn't mean he still can't kick ass when he wants to. Remember, he managed to win the ECW belt toward the end. I know that probably doesn't mean squat, but that meant that WWE had have seen something in him that deemed him worthy enough to have him hold it for whatever length of time. Besides, whatever feelings people have of him on the show as 'old, washed up, etc' that's just an act. If you ask anyone in the locker room, whether ECW, WWE, probably a majority of TNA people, they will tell you he is one of the most hard core people persons, and still lives and breathes this business and would do anything to help out anyone for the business, even if that means he has to lose matches the rest of his life. That's just how he rolls. I don't think it means bashing who he is as a person. There's a difference between who they are on stage and backstage. That's what I think some of the hostility is directed at, and some people don't seem to realize. Dreamer became famous for always being the underdog. Its his bread and butter, you always want to root for him and see him win. Of course, people are entitled to their opinions, but for every one or two people who say they are sick of "Dreamer, or AJ, or whoever else" That wrestler will have at least 10 times as many people cheering them on.

He has never been able to wrestle and never will. He should be greatful to be even in the same stadium as someone like Ric Flair and Aj Styles. All that work Aj and Kaz did to build TNA was demolised by the arrival of 40 year old Rob Van Dam and Jeff Hardy who has put on weight.

And maybe you should go back to school and learn how to spell. As for a stadium its a sound stage at an amusement park not a stadium. The whole EV2 angle is lame, I will give you that but you being 18 and I know never went to an original ECW show do not realize how Dreamer and the other ECW guys were as wrestlers.

You realize that titles aren't something that bookers say to people "OK, we think you're the best wrestler we have, so you're our champion now?" That died with Frank Gotch. I'm hoping you realize that titles aren't competitive affairs, where two people go to a ring, hit each other with blunt objects, and one guy becomes champion?

A title is nothing more than a prop. That's it. This is why people like Jack Swagger and Sheamus become champions; in the hopes that him holding a respected title will help get him over with the audience. At the same time, if your top guys aren't holding the belt often, it loses prestige. Dreamer is on record several times as saying he never wanted to win a championship; hell, that's his fucking gimmick. Do you think he comes from the Dreamer family? He is constantly chasing a dream which remains eternally out of his reach. Tommy (pause) Dreamer. Sound it out.

There are a lot of legitimate reasons here for why people don't like Tommy Dreamer, and while I don't agree with all of them, people are entitled to their opinions. You, however, are the worst kind of mark; one who thinks they understand what happens in the industry, yet buys into the stagecraft 100%.

Also, and this is terribly unimportant, but Tommy Dreamer is a *two* time champion. He held the belt in the original ECW (and the crowd, even knowing he was winning the belt before they got to the arena, still popped like crazy when he beat Taz), as well as the reign you are probably more familiar with, his WWECW run.

This is kind of a tricky question for me. I don't hate Dreamer, but I'm just not into this whole EV2.0 thing. As we've all seen over the past couple of weeks, Dreamer is the lead man for the ECW originals, so of course he's going to get the most mic time, be the focal point of all the segments and promos, and he has wrestled in the main event on Impact a couple of times already. Dreamer's not terrible, but he's just not a main event guy. He never was and he never will be. But there's no going back now for TNA. They're stuck in this storyline until Bound For Glory, so we'll be seeing more of Dreamer as the months go by.

I've almost changed my user name to Dreamer Hater, but hopefully he will be gone soon, so I will stick with the one I have. This guy does zero for me, except to piss me off when I see him. Actually that goes for all of EV2. TNA should have let these guys move on after HJ as they promised. TNA is so full of good young talent that wasting air time with these over the hill clowns is a crime. Dreamer is the most irritating of the bunch with his whiney promos and Dixie ass kissing. He sucks with his ring work and is only usefuil as a jobber. If you want to keep someone around to be jobbers, keep FBI, I enjoyed watching them get squashed by Beer Money on the last Impact. Him chasing down AJ really had me pissed off, WTF is TNA thinking? He couldn't lace AJ's boots. Now they have announced a match between the Dixie Ass Kisser & AJ for No Surrender. I will be in the Impact Zone with my "Screw EV2" & "Dreamer Sucks" signs. I hope AJ beats his ass good then Fortune comes out, finishes him off, and he ends up on a stretcher.

Between 1996 and 1999, millions upon millions of people would tune in to watch Hall, Nash and Hogan be the nWo. It was so hot in the early years that it made WCW the number one cable company in the US, it was the only time in the history of pro wrestling that WWE was getting beat weekly.

Allready in late 1998 people were getting sick of these guys, WWE brought them back in 2001, didnt work. TNA brought them back it didnt work.


What does this have to do with Dreamer again?

Well compared to WCW, NOBODY WATCHED ECW, the show was barely promoted, it was small scale, the fans were hardcore but a massive minority. What makes anyone think that people want to see Tommy Dreamer?

How many people, who arent hardcore wrestling fans even know who Dreamer is?

The man has no legacy, its laughable to even suggest something like that. Tommy is a nice guy i am sure, but he does not have a legacy.

Andre the Giant has a legacy okay? Tommy Dreamer does not
