Should Y2J Get Another Title Run?

Occasional Pre-Show
I don't watch wrestling on a regular basis I'm a 90's wrestling fan and majority of the new talent today hasn't appealed to me . I have nothing against Ziggler or even Punk but I'm not sold on them. Every time Y2J comes out he get's huge pop and with him being the first undisputed champ and him still being in great shape I see no reason not to give him a title run.

Y2J is awesome. Even though he loses just about every match he's in nowadays, the Ayatollah of Rock 'N Rollah still delivers every single time. He and Ziggler have an uncanny in-ring chemistry and this past match may have been their best yet. Does he deserve another title run? Absolutely. World and or IC belt. Jericho is helping to cement Ziggler and Fandango simultaneously. If if were up to me I would have had Jericho win the Rumble, especially after last year's disappointment and go on to face Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger. I would have had Jericho win the title, then on Raw as Jericho was celebrating his "BIG WIN" have Swagger attack him and Ziggler cash in. Cena could have easily won a Raw elimination chamber for # 1 contender considering he's won a rumble before and Jericho hasn't. Plenty of time to setup Rock/Cena II, but creative missed the boat.

Yes he should, and it does not matter what title it is. Jericho could get a title shot at any championship currently in WWE and he would be beneficial as champion. I'd rather he be World Heavyweight Champion than Dolph Ziggler anyday. WWE Champion is not out of the question either. He would do wonders for either midcard belt if they gave him a decent reign full of strong title defenses. Heck, why not reunite with Big Show as JeriShow and give Team Hell No a REAL threat to the giant pennies as a team that could dethrone them?

Give him any title and Jericho will be able to deliver a solid reign that helps the title seem more important again, or continue to be important in the WWE Championship's case. As much as I'd love to see him be World Heavyweight Champion again or WWE Champion with a version of the belt that lights up the way his jacket does, winning the Intercontinental Championship would be the best route for him. Jericho and Barrett have history, so a feud would work great for them. Jericho can win and bring some importance back to the belt, but not without making Barrett look great throughout the feud too, as it is an opportunity to help him as well. Plenty of options are available if Jericho is going to get any type of title run and I would support the overwhelming majority of them. He would make an excellent choice as champion for any of the titles.

The thing that makes Jericho great is he can win a title at any time. He could have lost to Fandango at Mania and then won the IC the following night. I think WWE should give him one run with the World belt as a face, as it's the one thing he's never actually gotten (bar that one night "reign" back in 2000).

I'm not sure it would be big enough to sell out a Mania, but defo a Royal Rumble or Summerslam.

It wouldn't bother me at all to see Jericho get another title run. However, with what his schedule is, I don't think it's the right thing to do.

Jericho sometimes disappears for weeks at a time in order to work gigs with his band Fozzy or for other projects outside of WWE. So it's unlikely, and perfectly reasonable, that WWE isn't going to make him World Champion anytime soon. I know they did with The Rock, something I wasn't overly crazy about, but let's face it, Jericho's not The Rock when it comes to the business aspect of wrestling.

As for one of the mid-card championships, it's a mixed bag. The IC & US titles have both been buried during WrestleMania season. Kofi Kingston is on a little bit of a hot streak right now, picking up the title from Cesaro last Monday and beating Barrett this past Friday. The obvious one is for Jericho to take the IC title for an even 10th time. Again, however, would you really be improving things for the title? As with the World Championships, Jericho is going to be MIA on various occasions so that's not exactly going to build up the prestige of one of the titles. At this point, with what Jericho is currently doing with WWE, I think the best use of him would be to put him into a good, long feud with one of the mid-card champs featuring some great matches to build the prestige of the title back up. Very few people can put others over while still looking like a major star as well as Jericho can.

If Jericho has nothing else lined up that conflicts with his WWE schedule and Fozzy goes on hiatus for the next 6 months or so, I'd be perfectly fine with Jericho having another title run. Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing him form a tag team with someone and enter the tag team picture. Whether he wins or loses, Jericho's involvement in a title scene is going to lead to some great matches. In my opinion, the mid-card titles are the ones that need him the most at this point.

Should Y2J get another World Championship/WWE Championship run?

Only to end his career.

Chris Jericho is so over with the fans now and has been for 13 years, that he doesn't benefit from the WWE title. He is a star without the championship.

The only time he should be champion is if he was defending it and winning from Survivor Series and then facing an up and comer mid-carder at WM for the title and then losing the belt.

It would not make sense to do much else with him now in terms of WWE title. Y2J is also focused on Fozzy too - and has been at the top of wrestling for 15 years now; and he has achieved everything anyone would want to in the wrestling industry. Him working a reduced schedule works well for Y2J, his opponents and WWE, and Fozzy and his fans of both his WWE career and his Music career.

I just want to see him take his place in the WWE HOF!

If anything, I'd like to see Y2J get one more lengthy run with the Intecontinental Title.

Jericho has held basically every title that WWE has had to offer, but i think in the long run he will be remembered more for his runs with the IC title than any World Title runs he had.

Jericho is one of the few people that can bring some importance and legitimacy back to the IC title, and in turn elevate any talent that feuds with him over the title.

Fans know that when Jericho is in ring, you are going to get a great match. Throw the IC title in to the mix and you instantly have a title that will be associated with highlight worthy wrestling, and will finally be given a level of importance and anticipation when it is defended.

I think he should be the man to beat Ziggler at Wrestlemania 30. Y2J hasn't won at WM since 2010. Ziggler could hold the title for 364 days. Fandango should win the I.C soon and Y2J should beat him at either Summerslam or Survivor Series winning the I.C for the 10th time.

The one unfortunate thing about Jericho is that he really should have won another WWE Championship a while ago. It's like once he won the Undisputed WWE Championship, he changed his outlook to "I've done it all now. I'm gonna put others over." And I think there was that one time when Triple H said to Jericho that he'd never win the WWE title ever again, or something. And here we have it. Jericho has never won the WWE Championship ever again. However, his Intercontinental Championship wins have always interested me. He's won the title 9 times and that's just awesome. I think he should win the Intercontinental title for a 10th time as his final capped achievement and do an entertaining promo about it. As much as I wish he'd also win the Royal Rumble, I doubt it will happen. I don't want to see him win the World Heavyweight Championship again, because it's the lesser of the two World titles (making him look like only the second best if he's competing in the Main Event again) and I've always wanted to see Chris Jericho win the WWE Championship again. One can only wish. Honestly, I don't think he'll win any more titles because of his schedule and outside dedications. He'll just pop in every once in a while to put over a new talent or something. That's pretty much his role now (although I do wanna see him beat Jack Swagger for once).

Jericho doesn't have to win the belt and although I enjoy his fued with Fandango mostly because he's helping to get Fandango over and its been working

But I DO want to see Y2J in the position that Rock, Taker, Cena & orton have been given which is to be the benchmark of Raw/Smackdown where all roads run through him and he finishes many nights of programming because he is that good and over with the fans.

Y2J is one of the most awesome and revolutionary talents of our time and he's sorta seen as Greg The Hammer Valentine of our generation

Jericho is comparable to Brock Lesnar. Both are great performer who could win the title credibly and believably at any moment because of their pasts. But because of their limited availability, they will not remain fresh on fan's minds because they are gone for too long at any given time. Jericho has always been one of my favorites going back to his WCW days and that will never change. I'm happy for his success outside of wrestling but he can never be a long term champion or anything other than a transitional champ because of limited booking.

While I personally would love to see Jericho get another title run, I just don't see it happening.

As has been said before in this thread, Jericho is a part-time pro wrestler now. With the success he's had in Fozzy, he's not here enough to truly give the title a good run. Yes, The Rock was given the WWE Championship... but only for a short time for a big WM angle. I think everyone who knows anything about the business knew that Rock's title reign wasn't going to be long. So, if you give Jericho a belt right now, it seemingly wouldn't be around his waist very long either. The guy's done so much in his career, that he's got the cred to be a title-less draw.

When Jericho came back for this run, my initial thought was here basically to help elevate some of the younger talent. That's been the case, working very well with Dolph Ziggler and helping Fandango skyrocket (to mine and a lot of other people's surprise). I didn't expect him to get a title shot, but to maybe be in a title picture chasing the champion. They teased putting him back into the WHC picture on Raw Monday, but I think we all knew that he wasn't getting put into that match at Extreme Rules. Even if he was, he wouldn't walk out of ER as the champ. Monday's match was a way to keep people interested in Jericho while pushing Zigger AND Fandango's momentum. I'm not a fan of triple threat matches, but fatal four-way matches are even worse, IMHO.

If Jericho gets some extended time away from his other ventures, it's feasible that he could at least be thrust into the WHC or WWE Title picture as a challenger. Perhaps giving him the IC title might be interesting, having him feud with Wade Barrett (student vs. "protege" from their NXT days) or continue the feud with Fandango for the strap. But a major title run? Nah, I don't see it.

Jericho is one of my favorite wrestlers/wrestling personalities ever. I'm glad to see him making returns to WWE when he's not on tour with Fozzy or working on TV shows. I just don't see another major title run for him anytime soon. But, as always, I reserve the right to be wrong.

I highly doubt that he would bring importance or prestige back to the Intercontinental Title. One reason is that it rarely had any since 2000 which was when Jericho amassed most of those reigns. I think he's one of the most overrated IC champions anyway so that title is out of the question. I don't see him winning the WWE title and the U.S. Title is falling into that same black hole as its counterpart is. So that pretty much leaves the WHC. I can see Jericho having a two or three month title reign with it. Wouldn't be much worse than what we have now.

i would love to see Y2J back in the title picture. currently, it's a 3-way tie between the WHC, IC and Tag Team Titles that i'd like to see have Jericho added in.

WHC picture makes sense. Jericho has history with both Ziggler and recently Swagger. i think last year there was a quick storyline with the WHC where there were 4 challengers all from different countries. that could easily be revisited. Ziggler from America, Del Rio from Mexico, Jericho from Canada and maybe Sheamus from Ireland. then no matter who wins, Swagger could challenge with the "foreigners stealing jobs from America" type thing. Jericho could do wonders in the WHC picture, whether as champion or challenger.

IC Title picture with Barrett would be easy storytelling with the classic teacher/student writing. have Fandango win the belt and that feud could continue easily as well. Jericho could score Fandango with a "1" since that's how many IC Title reigns he'd have, where as Jericho could go for the "perfect 10" since he's a former 9-time IC Champ and would then be going for his tenth.

Tag Team Title picture could always add some star power and depth. why not pair Jericho up with a returning Christian? both are faces. both have been Tag Team Champs. in fact, they were tag partners and champs in the past, so the history is there. and on special occasions, you could have Edge show up since all three of those guys have history with the Tag Titles. IC and World Titles for that matter too.

any division that has Jericho added to it will be all the better for it. he can jump from one side of the card to the other, fight for a mid-card belt or the biggest belt of all, feud with a rookie or a veteran, fight full-timers or one-off-appearance legends, open a card or close it out, lose cleanly or cheat to win, etc. anything this guy does looks great and seems believable.

in closing, i loved the idea posted earlier and would love to see Jericho win any title and customer design it to have flashing lights to match his jacket. that'd be perfect for his character. and it couldn't hurt the titles either.

I would like to see Jericho get back into the title picture as well, but at this point it would be tough to get him back there as he continues to lose every match. A long run with the IC title would be a great thing for him and the title. I think if they built him back up he could hold the World title and the person that beat him for it could get a great rub from that. I don't see it happening though.

Very tough. I can't see someone who lost to Fandango at Wreslemania getting another title run. Fandango... a guy who's bound to be another Brodus Clay with his dancing.

YES. Y2J is still one of the Best wrestlers in the company and still gets one of the biggest pops from the crowd. I have Enjoyed all of Jerichos title reigns in the past and believe that if given the chance he could easily make the World Title mean something again.
