If the opportunity came about, should the WWE let this happen. It's an interesting one...

If Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather were to have a fight in the near future, should the WWE have these two appear on Raw? (Normal appearance, guest hosts, contract signing, weigh ins, etc.)

Here are some pros and cons.

Pros:
+ The fight between these two would generate EXTREMELY high PPV buys and they're also the two most talked about boxers in the world. Showing them on Raw would boost ratings.
+ Could be a great way for the WWE to get acknowledged.
+ ...again, RATINGS.

Cons:
- Not wrestling related at all. But lots of things in pro wrestling isn't always wrestling related.
- Draws the spotlight away from the wrestlers.

Why not? They've done it before and Floyd has a pretty good relationship with WWE...only stumbling block would be if Pac Man (Manny Pacquiao's nickname) would be willing to do it.

Absolutely would draw interest from the mainstream sports media (ESPN) to RAW and also maybe outsiders who just can't wait to see this epic fight.

SO yes...I think they should and do so with gusto

Yeah I do too. Floyd has said in the past he'd like to become a wrestler actually. Nice little tid-bit. Funny you should mention ESPN, They would probably say that WWE took their idea somehow by having a weigh-in on raw, so maybe they shouldn't. lol

This could completely work as Batista escorted Pacquiao to the ring in his fight w/Ricky Hatton, i believe. they have a relationship and you could have him in batista's corner, and mayweather in someone's feuding with batista...or creating a feud. It would draw even more awareness to their fight promoting it on raw or smackdown. that would actually be great for smackdown.

I think yes. WWE has a history of bringing people in from other sports or fields like Shaq, Mayweather, Donald Trump and Mike Tyson so why not them. This is actually a big one. I am not a boxing fan so I don't know about Pacquiano but i know weather so if someone is as good as Mayweather this is going to be awesome. They can arrange their match at Wrestlemania with a stipulation like street fight or they can align them with some wrestler and have tag team match like Pacquiano and Jericho (coz we need one who can do the talk) vs Mayweather and Kofi Kingston.

I would love it. As a Filipino Pacquiao is my hero and I would love to see his name being out there for the whole world to see. As I have already seen by some of the previous posts not a lot of people know about Pacquiao so I would love for his name to be out there as well.

As much as it pains to see my hero be the heel in a match, the Pacquiao/Jericho vs Mayweather/Kingston hellod245 suggested was a great idea. I personally would love to see Batista and Pacquiao work together though as they are both Filipino.

If the opportunity arises, then its a no brainer. There would be nothing but positive as far as media attention for the WWE. IMO though, this fight is so big, that WWE wouldn't even be needed to hype it

I, for one, would love this!! I would love to see the dynamic of a Face Rey Mysterio and a Heel Floyd Mayweather vs. a Heel Batista and a Face Manny Pacquiao. There is no way Pac Man plays the Heel against Money, but there is no way to do a double turn with Dave and Rey either. I think the WWE should do everything in its power to capitalize on this. With the current Guest Host concept in full effect, I can’t see how this can hurt either party in any way. It’s just more mainstream media.

I would even try to get the actual fight on WrestleMania!! That would draw ridiculous numbers. Can you imagine a card with Pac Man vs. Money and Cena vs. Undertaker in the same night?? Okay, I went too far, I know, but at least get them on Elimination Chamber in February.

Batista and Pacquiao, Team Pinoy!! Can someone make me a Team Filipino sig for me??

No no no no no no NO

I will turn off anything related to Vince for the rest of my days if the world's WORST fighter is ever on there again. Oh yeah, I said it. Mayweather is nothing but a padded record from a guy who should be dancing on broadway... that's all he does is play the points game. He's not a boxer and won't take on PacMan because PacMan will not play with that child. PacMan would destroy him no question.

As to would it create ratings and buzz? Probably. But do I want to see it? Hell fucking no

This could completely work as Batista escorted Pacquiao to the ring in his fight w/Ricky Hatton, i believe. they have a relationship and you could have him in batista's corner, and mayweather in someone's feuding with batista...or creating a feud. It would draw even more awareness to their fight promoting it on raw or smackdown. that would actually be great for smackdown.

yeah thats what i was thinking have them escort a wrestler or tag teams. the bad thing about pacman accompanying batista is that dave is a heel and more than likely pacman is gonna be the face in a fight with mayweather. if it was raw, he would have to accompany somebody like miz or swagger (the more bragging heels) and pac man somebody like bourne or kofi (the scrappy underdog hardworker)

Geez. There's more ways to capitalize on this than to bring the fighters on their show ... Think about it like this... Why would they bring the fighters on the show? To hopefully increase ratings. What do increased ratings mean? Companies spend money on advertising.

Given that Batista brings a big Filipino demographic - as does Melina to a lesser extent - and given that Mayweather has already appeared multiple times on WWE programming... do you think there's any chance that the fight promoters wont use WWE as a big source for their advertising?

So to answer your question - YES. They will capitalize on this fight, in terms of real advertising dollars being spent on WWE programming.

No. They should not - and WILL NOT - have either fighter appear on their programming. The last thing the fight promoter wants is for his two fighters to appear on a make believe, scripted show leading up to their showdown. That is NOT a way to sell a fight.

I'm sorry I don't agree with it at all. I agree with Macini(especially the fact that Pac would eat Mayweather alive!) cause he pretty much covered every point in this discussion, but I'll add this.

You see what you guys want to see is the very problem with Vince McMahon and WWE today. Vince is trying so hard to be accepted by the Mainstream that he forgets that he is the head of a wrestling promotion sometimes. I mean does he really need to dip his hands into Boxing this many times? Sure it would generate ratings but if it does it's only because the damn boxers are on the program. Go ahead and see if the Pro-Boxing fans are going to continue to tune in. All it's going to do is maybe do a couple of weeks worth of ratings spikes and once Pac and Mayweather leave the ratings will drop once more.

This benefits the promoters of the Fight more than it can ever benefit WWE. WWE gives them free advertising while not giving time to it's employees that can really use it. Sure it will put WWE's name out there but it would just turn into fodder for ESPN and other sports shows to eat up considering they look at Pro-Wrestling like a joke.

So in the end Vince McMahon needs to remember that he is in the Pro-Wrestling business and try to put out a better product instead of trying to gain acceptance from the Mainstream media that would otherwise not give a damn about his product. But it's Vince McMahon and chances are what you guys want could and will very well happen. I don't know about you guys but I would prefer matches that didn't involve celebrities with little to no experience in the Squared Circle.
