Should the WWE have "Roast"?

Getting Noticed By Management
I don't mean for any of the televised shows, but maybe on their PPV's. It is entertainment, and could lead to some serious feuds. If you have ever seen a "Roast" they can get nasty. Would be interesting to see what they had to say to eachother. Also, would be curious to see who would start swearing first. I happen to like "Roast", and think it would fit the WWE very well. What do you all think?

No they shouldn't, because no one would purchase it. It would have to be on free TV, but I don't think it would be watched.

Wait...not only are you suggesting they do a 'roast' but at a PPV? Would you pay to watch a verbal spat? I for one would not, so to answer your question...NO!

I barely buy ppv's let alone a roast. The concept is interesting though but since there is so much animosity between guys it would get ugly fast. At least the comedy central ones are vicious but everyone has a good time. I think it would lead to some actual fights considering how some guys have ego issues.

See the The Dirt Sheet. WWE already does this kind of thing on its website. I think it'd detract from the wrestling product to have roasts on PPV. I personally have no interest in it, and it would be a discouraging factor for me when decided to buy a PPV. I'd never pay for it.

While if they had it as an exclusive on WWE.com, I may pay attention to it, and they could even mention it on RAW and Smackdown when they have there actual wrestling match, then slowly people would check them out and they might become a feature of minor feuds. But eventually, that'd get stale. I'd give it a few months of working.

Well, I think there is a market for this kind of thing. If you look at the popularity of shoot interviews and the Legends of Wrestling roundtables.

That said, it would likely be better recieved as a DVD product. Putting it on PPV wouldn't work the same way putting the HOF cerimony on PPV wouldn't. As one of my college instructors used to say "it would be a nice to have, not a need to have".

I think it would be really interesting and fun to watch and very entertainining. I'm sure there would be a lot of funny stories and behind the scenes stuff etc. But it won't happen. wwe doesn't want everyone to break charecter and just screw around and let the audience see "too much". and if they did it in charecter, it would just be a long super-promo. good idea though.

Yeah, because taking time away from matches and shoot interviews would be such a GREAT idea. When I order a PPV I want to see wrestling, not a bunch of wrestlers making horrible jokes, thats the difference between watching RAW or Smackdown and watching a PPV, we don't have to watch all the bullcrap and instead get to see matches.

It is entertainment, and could lead to some serious feuds.

Maybe in your opinion it's entertainment, but I find them to be just really annoying and obnoxious, the jokes that they come up with to roast each other are lame at best. I've seen some of these done on Comedy Central, they usually involve second rate actors or comedians, and thats not a coincedance.. these things are attention seekers that have little to no value whatsoever. The hour I spent watching one of them is an hour i'll never get back, I would much rather have spent that time staring at paint dry on a wall.

And how would this lead to feuds? Someone gets offended and so they start a battle with the guy that offended them? I mean, sure, this could work once.. but i'm assuming you want these "roast's" on all the PPV's, so wouldn't the whole "i'm offended by what you said now I want to feud with you" thing become a little redundant? I think so.

Curious to see who would start swearing first? What? Why would that make any difference, would your jaw drop if you heard one of them utter a curse-word, would you yell out in shock at one of them lacing their sentence with profanity? They swear on television to a certain degree, maybe not the kind of thing your talking about, but it's just words it makes no difference if they can say them or not.. doesn't make them tougher or more badass, and it doesn't make what they have to say compelling.

Roast's by definition usually do get nasty, you figure that some of the people at the thing have realy animosity toward the "roastee" so of course things get a little heated. This could happen, and probably would happen, if the WWE did a "roast" but the whole idea just seems stupid to me. Theres no place for it on a PPV that we pay 40 bucks for, and doing this on one of the shows during the week would just take up valuable time that younger guys and midcarders could have to be put on air.

A roast will never take place in the WWE, and we should all be thankful for that.

I don't think so, because there are probably only about 6 wrestlers who are actually funny.

Santino
Cena
Triple H
Jericho
Edge
HBK

Having a roast on a PPV would piss off so many people, it isn't even funny.

They could do it on weekly television, but then you would have to be careful about who you would select for the segment, since there are very few good talkers in WWE. I'd have to see who you would be proposing to be roasted and who the speakers in the segment would be.

It can be done during a promo on RAW, SD! or ECW, so I can see the benefits. I mean, it could produce some good fueds, and true, they can get nasty so I can see the appeal. But if you're talking about having it as an actual show that's just the rost, then no. Let's be honest, no-one would be THAT interested in it. People watch the WWE for wrestling, not roasting.

I have to disagree with everyone here. I think it would depend on who was getting roasted and all that. Think about this if they had a PPV for Charity The Roast Of Vince McMahon and it was real not scripted. People would buy it. You could bring in older wrestlers like Flair and Austin. Have people like Triple H and Shawn Michaels and maybe Shane and Steph. I think it would sale pretty well as long as the price wasn't to high say about 20 bucks.

I think that would be a good idea. I like listing to the older wrestlers stories. Love the Legends of Wrestling on WWE 24/7. And as far as getting nasty, thats what censor buttons are for. I think they could have it as a WWE 24/7 thing. And they can revolve it around the Hall Of Fame.

Some of you love to put words in to the mouths of others, odd. Look, I never said every PPV. It was just a suggestion. When in the hell did I ever say that this should be a show? I just thought that a "Roast" would be cool. Not every week, or even every PPV. Get a hold of yourselves. You say that you watch the WWE for wrestling, really? The WWE has hardly any "wrestling" going on if you ask me. I guess thats just my opinion though. RAW has been boring, and the wrestling that we do see is mediocre at best. Never any consistency when it comes to quality wrestling in the WWE anymore.

I would much rather see a Roast than lets say a Diva search contest, the draft, or even the the hours spent just talking. Roasting VKM would be classic, or even Hulk Hogan, maybe the Rock, or even HHH. The list goes on, and on. Maybe even Jericho could create a Legends celebrity Roast. Just roasting a bunch of old has beens. I dunno the ideas are limitless.

I would enjoy watching a WWE-style roast. Maybe on a 3-hour Raw or in place of a Saturday Night's Main Event (mainly because those aren't very appealing to me as of late). You could certainly see some funny moments happening, but I think it would seem out of place for serious feuds. It would be a great way to incorporate legends without having to see them in a match. It would be so funny for guys like Roddy Piper to make some appearances.

As long as it didn't take room away from matches, I think it would be a neat idea.

It'd make me laugh, and I buy every WWE PPV anyway, so it wouldn't affect that. However, a wrestling show without wrestling? Doesn't really spell out the best formula for me. On TV would be fine I guess, I don't think it's really needed but I wouldn't complain if they decided to go ahead and do it.

How boring would this be? Who would want to see wrestlers roast other wrestlers? it makes sense in a Promo, but to just have one person get roasted by everyone for no reason, other then just, cos. Is stupid. and would be a waste of time.
