Should NXT have a mid - card title?

Occasional Pre-Show
So what do you think?

I think a mid - card title would be good for the brand to help start feuds etc.
The roster size is increasing all the time so there is no shortage of competition.

Not everyone is going to be NXT champion so this could help out those guys.

guys like Bull Dempsey, Tyler Breeze, Hideio Itami, Solomon Crowe

What would it be called?
You couldn't call it the NXT television title coz....well NXT isn't on TV

keen to hear all ya thoughts!

Not the first time this thread has come up, and the answer is still no.

The roster only has an hour to work each week, and only about 12 - 15 people active at any given time. Totally unnecessary and would be wasted.

As the brand continues to expand into a 50/50 split between "developmental" and "Indy promotion with a ton of production value" the roster may become large enough to accommodate it.

Norcal, as usual is money here. There isn't the need yet for another championship. The setup right now is perfect. Honestly the Woman's championship serves perfectly as a midcard championship and the tag team serves as a solid show opener.

Not enough time (or active talent) right now for the show to put focus on another championship. If it were ever to go to two hours then there is a slight case. Right now though, not an issue. Why fix what isn't broken?

If the time ever came I look towards FCW and the FCW15 Jack Briscoe championship. Why not do the same in NXT and call it the NXT15 *insert some legend here* championship. Would fit in nicely as an opening contest.

I think the Brand should develop more as a " Brand " itself before even thinking about adding another title ... Till we're for sure that NXT is its own independent brand and not developmental , and it takes an extra hour time slot ... Till then I honestly don't see a need for it , although it would be entertaining

I kind of like the fact that there are only the basic titles in nxt, one singles belt for both sexes and a tag team title. Due to the time length of the show its the perfect amount. If anything I thing the main roster should drop a belt so that there is only two main singles titles (world & ic). Would be open to a cruiser weight belt being introduced if they had the same depth of high fliers as wcw used to

I have to give this a big thumbs down! NXT wouldn't benefit at all from adding a midcard title if anything it would totally destroy the chemistry they have created. There just isn't enough time & there is far too much turnover for this to be an option.

If I could do anything with NXT I would take the first hour away from RAW & have NXT be broadcast on the USA Network but continue to have their PPVs on the network. People inside of WWE are always saying a 3hr Raw is just too much, this would be a perfect solution & it would also help get fans introduced to the up & coming talent & maybe help the transition for the fans/talent be easier.

I think adding a midcars title outs a bad idea for NXT. It would devalue the NXT title and its ability to be a stepping stone to the main roster.

They do already and Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake currently hold it.

NXT isn't like your standard promotions. It has a limited roster and a limited amount of TV time, but they manage to make every title seem important. Of course the NXT Title is bigger that anything else on the show, but you could easily see the Women's Title or Tag Team Titles as the feature of a show. There are some people who aren't going to be involved in the NXT Title picture, but they can fight for the Tag Team Titles and often do. Unlike WWE, that title actually means something instead of just throwing it in for a token defense.

Adding another title to the promotion would overcrowd things and really wouldn't make the show better. Let the Tag Team Titles be the midcard titles instead of adding another and devaluing what is working so well.

Not at this time. NXT currently functions perfectly. It's a developmental show. They only need one male champion, one female champion, and one top tag team. The roster is not big enough to justify having a midcard champion. Now, if we get to the point where NXT can become its own entity and a seperate brand on par with Raw, then yes it should either take the US Championship as its midcard title or create a new one. Raw would have the WWE World Championship, WWE Divas Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and WWE Tag Team Championship. NXT would have the NXT Championship, NXT Womens Championship, US Championship, and NXT Tag Team Championship. Each title tier is covered. However, that would only work if/when we get to the point where NXT is no longer a developmental show. They'll get there. Today though? Not a chance. Adding a new title would accomplish nothing until the brand grows more.

If NXT becomes its own successful touring brand, which could be happen if things ultimately keep going the way they've been going there for quite a long while, I think we could see NXT expanded into having more time. It's possible that another 1 hour NXT show could be added to the WWE Network or NXT itself is expanded to 2 hours. Couple another show and/or additional time to the current show if NXT is able to become its own sustainable, successful touring brand, then might be the time to bring out a secondary NXT championship.

Right now, there's not really enough time. Considering the time they have, and they've been able to make great use of that limited time, really all they have is enough to focus on 2 championships each week, maybe squeezing in some sort of hype for the 3rd for an upcoming show. Right now, things are balanced because they're not rushing through in order to try to cram something that would take 2, possibly 3, hours into a single hour.
