Should Jack Swagger's world title win have been a Wrestlemania "moment"?

I just don't get it . . . why have Jack Swagger win the World Title on the first episode of Smackdown straight after WM26 when the perfect "moment" would have been straight after Edge had speared Jericho thru the timekeepers wall.

The crowd reaction to him marching down the ramp to cash in the MITB would have been incredible plus it would automatically set him up with Edge too, who would have been at ringside to watch Swagger win the title after what he had done to Jericho after the match.

What do you think did WWE lose a great opportunity here ?

I think they missed a shot, but it would've taken away from the Edge/ Jericho feud they were building since the Royal Rumble PPV. Swagger should make a good champion. He's a big guy and his height hides that well. Plus, SmackDown's writers take better care of developing their younger stars of the future. Not a wasted chance, but Swagger's time has come. It'll be ok.

The whole Swagger story is not making sense to me. I liked how he showed up on Raw and then backed out of the match when he didn't think he was going to win. I was hoping this would be the story line for awhile. It would have been different and added to his being a heel. They have been setting up the Edge and Jericho rivalry to last awhile so does that mean they are ending that rivalry now? I am worried that no one will take Swagger seriously like Sheamus and his title run will be squashed then he will disappear.

There is no buildup recently with Swagger and he was a forgotten member of Raw for awhile. I am afraid that this could get ruined. If anything he will need the title for quite awhile and have some good rivalries to truly build him up otherwise this will have been all for nothing.

I don't think the WWE thought Jack Swagger was quite "big" enough to win a world title at Mania. I mean, there's winning a World title, and then there's winning a World title at Wrestlemania. Two very different things. Especially when it would be a guys first title reign.

A guy winning his first World title at Wrestlemania is usually reserved for A. A veteran guy, a former champion, or B. A guy who is about to be shot to the top of the company. Jack Swagger is not being shot up that high. Being a World Champion is a huge deal, don't get me wrong. But I don't think the WWE is banking on Swagger to the be the next HUGE superstar in pro wrestling. Guys get short title reigns when they are younger, it happens. But that doesn't mean that guy is neccessarily "big" enough to win the title at Mania.

My feeling about this is that Wrestlemania was beginning to run long, and that the WWE just nixed the cash in that night. The proper time needed to be allocated to the main events after this match. So what ends up happening, they just used what happened to Jericho at Mania to lead to him getting his ass whipped on Friday Night.

The Money in the Bank was going to have an immediate cash in. I don't like that it was wasted within the first week of it being won if it wasn't cashed in at Mania. Seems like a miss to me, and seems like a botch by the WWE on my end.

Definitely a missed moment. Swagger should have cashed it at Wrestlemania itself, and he would have been the first. Bet this *moment* however will appear on the WM 26 DVD when it comes out. Still it makes no sense. But I'm all for younger talent getting pushed. On Smackdown! there was a moment where Swagger got in Shelton Benjamins face with the World Heavyweight Championship and said "Maybe they should call me the Gold Standard now!". Promo or not that was very cruel by the WWE writers (Michael Hayes ???) to do that one on Shelton.

I agree, I mean the segment on raw where he almost cashed it in was pretty cool but it still would have been beter to go threw with it at wrestlemania. It would have been the first time that has ever happened (cashing in money in the bank on the grandest stage) and it might have made swagger more recognizeable

Sure, it could have happened, but I don't think it would be necessary. The fact that it happened the first Smackdown after Wrestlemania, helped allow both Chris Jericho and Edge in the World Title scene along with Swagger. The way and fashion it happened also allowed it. If Jack Swagger cashed in his MitB briefcase at Wrestlemania, a possible Triple Threat match that could occur wouldn't make as much sense as it would now.

I agree that it would have made a great and surprising Wrestlemania moment for Jack Swagger, I believe it was better that WWE had him wait until Smackdown to cash in.

Swagger winning the title is garbage. Remember folks, that's the same title that David Arquette won. Is this the same guy that was jobbing just a few weeks ago to Santino? I think that the E did it the RIGHT way by not ending Mania with a crap title victory. I don't see Swagger holding the title that long either. In the world of who's in the title hunt we have Jericho, Edge and....that's right, Jack Swagger. His mic skills are crap, his wrestling skills are mid card at best. The whole cashing in the MITB thing when the dude's down is played out.

Did the WWE miss something with this situation? Yes, yes they did. They missed the opportunity to promote one of their super athletic and over stars. I think if they had Christian win the MITB and have him win Edge get the title to turn on him and cash it in would have made the most sense and possibly even stirred some interest. Swagger is a nothing champ and I'm sad that the spirit of David Arquette has again come over the title.

Am I saying Swagger will never be good or heavyweight champion worthy? No. Maybe someday, but as I said, a few weeks ago he was jobbing to SANTINO!

I think it's a great idea.

Swagger's show was never Raw to begin with. The fans weren't too crazy about him, and I doubt they cared if he won the US Title at all. On Smackdown on the other hand, it brings a new heel into the WHC picture and can go many different routes. Either he'll be a solid heel with many feuds in the future or a quick, temporary champion. Let's hope the fans will notice him now.

Swagger winning the title at mania would of been overshadowed since jericho and edge wasnt the last match to end the show more then likely he would of been a after thought because of taker and micheals match him winning the title the first smackdown is the best choice because if for some unknown reason nobody knew results of mania then they wanted to see who the champ is and before the champ is able to celebrate u now have swagger there in smackdown to definently be his stepping stone into the spotlight

I think that they did what they should have done with Swagger. A lot of the writers must see a lot of potential in him. I can honestly see him sticking around the title picture on Smackdown for quite some time. With all of the wrestlers who are taking time of, after Wrestlemania they need to build more and more main-eventers, and this is the way I see them doing this.

Having a MITB cash-in that same night felt like a perfect opportunity and I was certain it was going to happen. It would have made a great Wrestlemania moment for Swagger, but he DID get his first Wrestlemania moment anyhow by winning the MITB match at his first Wrestlemania match.... I can think of a huge reason why we did not see a cash-in that night. Shawn Michaels' and Taker's rematch would have overshadowed Swagger's cash-in. Had it not been for that epic match and the ending afterwards, then Swagger cashing in would have been all but guaranteed to happen rather than on Smackdown. It makes sense in the long run because Wrestlemania 26 will end up being remembered for showing us HBK's last match, thus Swagger's cash-in moment would be severely overshadowed in the long run. He'll have another chance at getting an incredible moment at future Wrestlemanias.

no its just like last year how when Batista returned the next night on Raw and helped clean out legacy, he could have done that at the end of 25, but they went for the next night. its the same here a big moment used on the next weeks show, also i agree with the WTF with swagger cashing in after jobbing to swagger
