You know, I was thinking about this myself for the last several days, especially while several people on this site have been speculating about a swerve from Bret Hart, appearing on TNA instead of WWE to screw Vince McMahon and the WWE. I 100% doubt this swerve from Bret Hart, which I already discussed in another thread. But it got me to thinking. What surprise could TNA pull to make me switch tomorrow night from RAW to TNA?
Because make no bones about it, I am 100% WWE and will definitely be watching RAW instead of TNA. I may switch over during commercial breaks, and I'm sure I'll either record TNA and watch it later, or will watch it when it's re-broadcast on Thursday night.
Anyways, back to topic. I was thinking, what could TNA do to lure me away? Hogan, Bischoff and a reincarnated nWo? No. Flair? Definitely not. RVD? Intriguing, but not enough. Mr. Kennedy/Anderson? Absolutely not. Any other recycled has-beens that Hogan might dig out of his past? Not even worth commenting on.
Stone Cold Steve Austin or the Rock? That would definitely capture my attention and would seriously tempt me. But the chances of this happening are absolutely 0% for a multitude of reasons, so I won't bother to comment on such fantasy, and even if it did happen, I'm not sure if it would be enough to sway me on January 04, 2010.
There is only one thing which could do it. Let me preface this by saying I also feel there is 0% that such fantasy could ever become reality. But it's interesting and fun speculation.
Hogan, Bischoff, etc., are in the TNA ring and they announce their newest silent partner. And out comes Shane McMahon. Now this would turn the wrestling world upside down and truly ignite a new era of the Monday Night Wars. Because there are only 2 ways such an event could happen. 1. There is true heat between Vince and Shane, and Shane left Vince and the WWE with bad blood for real, and he wants to stick it to Vince and the rest of the WWE. Again, I don't believe this for a second, but it would be interesting. Because this would involve real heat, real emotion, and both sides would get very intense and very personal, and fast. 2. It's all kayfabe, and there's been some behind the scenes shenanigans by Vince and the WWE, such as Vince secretly purchasing TNA, and this being a colossal storyline, a chance to re-do an Invasion storyline but not screw it up this time. I don't believe this either, but it would make for compelling television.
So no, truth be told, there's no chance Shane McMahon will be appearing on TNA any time soon. And there's nothing else they could pull to sway me, and most others, away from WWE to "cross the line." The end result? WWE absolutely kicks TNA's butt tomorrow night and beyond. The Monday Night Wars? No. More like the Monday Night Whimpers.
