Shane McMahon resigns

This shocked me, to say the least. But if Shane wants to leave WWE to pursue other interests, then he should do it. Who's to say that WWE is really in Shane's blood? Just b/c Shane shares the same last name as his Father, doesn't make him obligated to follow in Vince's foot steps. My Mother has her career, but that doesn't mean that I'm obligated to do the same thing she's doing. We may be parent and child, but we're still different people with different interest and goals. Shane could have only gotten involved in WWE to make his Father happy. For all we know, Shane could have hated WWE...but only did it to make others happy. I actually did that, with my college major. I started off being a Biology major, just to make others happy. Had some, who wanted me to be a Doctor. But I eventually switched to Psychology, b/c that was my true passion. So if Shane wants to pursue his true passion, then he should do it. You don't want to be in your golden years, looking back on your life, and regretting not pursuing your dreams. Hopefully Shane will still make some appearence in WWE. But if he doesn't, then Shane...thanks for the memories. Thanks for being apart of my childhood. Thanks for all the badass moments and matches. BTW I was there live in Houston at WM17, when Shane did the "coast to coast" on Vince. That was so awesome.

I think it's a shame he is leaving.

Good luck to him in whatever he decides to do though.

As for Vince dying, he could be in charge for another 20 years! I won't say whether or not that will be a bad thing lol

Guess that does leave the door more open for HHH and Steph though...

There are a number of factors to this story-

1. There is no way shane would do this on his own without talking to vince, steph and linda. Period. No matter which direction he ends up going, he would never want his family business destroyed over whatever this is.

Well, duh.

2. Never think anything is out of the realm of a McMahon. These are the same people who had a senior citizen (May Young) give birth to a plastic hand, who had HHH simulate sex with a dead body, who had simulated paul bearer drown in a huge box filled with concrete, who had kaintai chop off val venis's penis with a samurai sword, who had certain wrestlers kiss Vinces bare ass on TV and a fam who had their son shane, do some insane crazy bumps for a easy pop. There is nothing a McMahon would not do for the business.

Um ... okay.

3. The only bad press is no press. This is easily the biggest story since Benoit's death. As for Jeff Hardy and the drugs thing...if it's true or not, no one can say they were shocked by it. If nothing solid comes out of Shane leaving, like a definitive path, then people will guess and guess and guess until it actually happens. And unless it's something huge like shane going to TNA, they will milk the uncertainty until there is nothing left.

Rather obvious. It's what fans do. Not sure why you felt the need to state the obvious, though. It's not like we would have never guessed that "fans would keep guessing until something happens".

4. To take a line from a movie, 'What the eyes see and the ears hear, the mind believes.' Until you see Shane Mc frickin Mahon doing something 100% non-wrestling related, do not believe anything you read online. While the internet has every useless factoid about wrestling out there, if anything, the internet has created a new breed of fan, which has been discussed in depth on wz.com, a fan in the internet wrestling community. While knowing way more than what is on TV, they sadly believe everything they read, which then mutates into 'fact' while the actual performers sit back and laugh. Take with a grain of salt EVERYTHING YOU HEAR until it can be proven. This site, the wrestling observer, pro wrestling illustrated, etc. hear things 3rd and 4th hand. Just chill and see how it pans out. Not like this will effect fans AT ALL. We all would love to see shane take a bump off of the empire state building or a moonsault off of a good year blimp, it just ain't gonna happen. This could easily be a work, or something as simple as his wife may be preggo and he is focusing on family.

My you are a melo-dramatic person, aren't you? The way your writing comes across, one would think you were hyper-ventilating when you wrote this. Way too attached, when you have no reason to be.

As far as the bolded text, it has been explained countless times that Vince was going to get in trouble with the SEC last time they did something like this and implied that Donald Trump actually purchased Raw. They can not do something like this (which is posted on their very own website) as it affects the value of shares. If you are a shareholder in the company, hearing the fact that BOTH Linda and Shane left in a period of about a month certainly is not going to give you a positive feeling about the company. This departure is definitely something that some individuals would sell their shares over (especially with Linda leaving as well).

It was posted on their corporate website, as well. Storylines DO NOT get posted on their corporate website, again because of the issues discussed.

5. As long as shane is still a mcmahon, wrestling will be a part of him. He may go off and try to get more talent for the wwe, while setting up his own talent company.

In political press circles, there is a term known as 'taking out the trash.' It's when a story needs to be broken that they aren't really happy about or just feel like it isn't important, so they do it on a friday, since people don't watch as much news or read the newspapers on weekends, so the story will be seen as unimportant. This story broke yesterday, Friday and WWE posted shane's response late last night or today. This could be 100% legit and they want to bury this until they can spin it.

That was a good contribution on your part raised, as I'm sure those that don't follow politics (probably a majority of the posters on here) are probably unaware about the Friday technique that you mentioned. Also, it gives shareholders hopefully the weekend to think about their decision before doing anything rash.

However, yes it is legitimate, and that's the part you yourself don't seem to want to accept. So where as your efforts to explain the PR damage control technique was fine to add, trying to suggest to everyone on here that this may be a work after it was posted on their corporate website and especially after the Donald Trump fiasco because of idiotic shareholders not understanding their own product, as well as threats from SEC Involvement .... is a rather misguided and misleading attempt on your part with respect to the reality of the situation.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccck. Fucking shocking man. Thats what living on the moon gets me, I suppose. I dont get everyone's dramatics though "ZOMG now booking will be shit"...fucking crap some of you are beyond ignorant. Shane did mostly corporate stuff, and wasnt very involved in the creative process at all. Stephanie has been head of creative writing for about 3 years now. Ya dumb FUCK.

When Vince kicks the bucket in like 300 years when some chosen warrior comes and slays him with a sword blessed by the blood of Christ, it likely wouldve been Steph (moreso HHH) running creative, and Shane taking care of corporate. So this doesnt change a whole lot of what we will be seeing on the television. Im not sure why everyone is oh so afraid of Trips running this company. The man has been wrestling for two decades nearly, is one of the hardest working guys they have, has cometed in just about every match and angle imaginable, and has a true love for the sport, and for the fans. Thats someone who I want running the company, and the book. Fine with me. Still suprising though, definately.

Shane McMahon has not been working for WWE since announcing his resignation, which takes effect January 1st. It’s said that morale is the lowest with workers in the office since anyone can remember. One person close to Shane says that him leaving WWE had to do with being passed over for power and that he was tired of being humiliated publicly by Vince.

Vince's bullying and passing Shane over in favor of Stephanie and Triple H were two speculated reasons as to why Shane left from the get-go ... and it appears Meltzer's sources are stating the same.

Vince's humiliating people may be designed to fire them up .... or it could simply be his way to get off on humiliating people and knowing they can't retaliate. I think he likely does it to people who perform well anyway, like he did with Paul Heyman, as well.

It's just a regular pattern with Vince. He likes to bully people because he's large and in-charge. And he wants everyone to be sure they know it.

Well, that cost him his son in the process. And office morale has now suffered big time because of it. I hope Vince is happy.

It's just a regular pattern with Vince. He likes to bully people because he's large and in-charge. And he wants everyone to know about it.

This is so unfortunately true. I've read from numerous sources that this is the main reason why he hired Bischoff. And let's not forget the few incidents that have gone down with Jim Ross over the years. The most recent being at Backlash this year with the whole Santina Marella thing.

Vince's ego has gone way too far at times, but this is just too much. When you piss your own son off to the point where he doesn't want to work for you any more, than you've gone too far. Low morale any where in WWE isn't needed right now. Especially with Jan 4 getting closer and closer each day.

Yeah, I was reading an article where it mention Shane's "No Compete" clause in the contract. It sounds so weird. Man, who would of ever thought it? I assumed he'd kinda take over one day.

I just can't see how he would ever try to compete with Vince. I mean, thats his dad. It makes you wonder how their personal relationship is.
