Telling me I'm invincible..
Just read the news that Silvervision have been forced to pull several of their DVDs. These include the recently released 'True Story of WrestleMania', and 'The Greatest Stars of the 90's' and, I think most notably 'The Hart Family Anthology'. Silvervision have commented on this on their Facebook page:

"It has been removed at the request of WWE - we'll have more news on this next week."

Whilst no official reason has been given as they these certain DVDs have been pulled, my immediate reaction was that Owen Hart is included in each of these, including a couple more 'Best of Raw' related DVD boxsets that have also been pulled. And there has been a long going lawsuit between Martha Hart and the WWE so I guess that does make some sort of sense. But it's a shame, cause each of these, especially the 'True Story of WrestleMania' were probably selling well in Europe. What are your thoughts on this?

Yeah thats weird...I heard about the threat of Martha's lawsuit after the hart and soul dvd came out and remember hearing Bret and the rest of the family condemning the threat...since the dvd was in tribute to their family and was produced to celebrate Stu Hart and the family for the hall of fame. That makes sense if its true though because if they were just out of stock of the dvds...i'm sure it would just read out of stock. Anyways i haven't looked at the silvervision website but just checked wweshop.com and they still have them in stock as of now. This is a lawsuit that martha wont win because wwe owns the rights to all of there video library. I see it as just shes going after more money. The McMahons made a promise to her that they wouldn't ever show Owen in a poor fashion or exploit his accident. Which they have not. All they have done is talk highly of him any chance his name is brought up and they got the whole family to do the Hart and Soul dvd except Owens family. He is not in the WWE hall of Fame because of Martha and if this goes further it would be a crying shame if they have to cut owen out of the archive...like the wwe did on there own viousion with Chris benoit for obviously different and understandable reasons. I'm just glad i have all those dvds you mentioned that they just pulled in the UK.

This is a major own goal from Martha Hart if it is to do with the lawsuit... people will still see the footage, they will just download it for free and she (and more importantly Owen's kids) lose their cut...

Very true, but there is such a thing as taking pride in what you believe is right. It might not matter to us, but I can imagine it matters to her. You have to respect her wishes.

It's been confirmed that it has nothing to do with Owen Hart at all. Other DVD titles missing are ones like the WWE title one and the IC title one which doesn't feature Hart at all.

Something different is happening here but nothing will be told until next week.

my guess is WWE is getting their own network where they can show these titles and get a bigger cut from people paying for their channel, as opposed from people paying $8 for Netflix. with some wait, they can sell DVD's and in a while, show them on the WWE Network. just a guess though

I state again whilst nothing had been officially announced, I was merely giving my personal opinion as to why I thought these DVDs in particular had been pulled. :) As I also said before, it's a shame that these DVDs have been taken down, regardless of the reason why because they seemed to be popular. I'm personally very glad I bought 'The True Story of WrestleMania' on there when I did because:

1) It's not out on the high street till later this month
2) It'll be more expensive (£25/£30).

I'm looking forward to finding out what the actual reason for taking these DVD's off sale was, because if it wasn't down to the Owen Hart issue, I'm interested to know what it actually was.

I just looked at the site and they are still show up and let me add them to my cart. Does it alert you about not having the DVDs when you try to check out?

They were not pulled from Netflix. Plus WWE already sells DVDs. WWE having a few DVDs on Netflix is a positive thing for them.

They've also pulled Knucklehead and The Chaperone

WWE isn't the first company pulling their DVD's from Netflix, Showtime has also just done the same thing and the reason given is that since Netflix is going into making original shows they've become a rival as opposed to just a rental vendor.

Seeing as how WWE is getting into the same thing, they probably have a similiar complaint

Once again I am still showing both titles in stock at silvervision and on Netflix instant and for DVD rental. So I don't know where people are getting that they pulled DVDs from either site. The only wrestling movie that is showing up in my saved queue is Ready To Rumble. Also I've know people who have watched their instant Netflix DVDs who gave up on wrestling years ago. If anything they are widening their audience.
