Sean Morley gone from TNA-- What should have been done with him?

Yeah, the whole porn gimmick hasn't been entertaining for a LONG time now. TNA definitely shouldn't try to use him as face. Morley as a face would be very weird and awkward. During the attitude era this was able to work because it was a time when WWE was edgy, and use to have plenty of angles involving women, and sexual situations. TNA is trying to be fresh and edgy, but I don't think they want to be this edgy.

The best shot TNA has with Morley is to have him as a heel. The crowd would probably boo him if he were to go around harassing all the Knockouts to be in his movies. That's the only way I could see the Morley character working in TNA. Bedsides, he was younger in WWF when he started using this gimmick, so it was believable that all the ladies would want him. Now that he's gotten older, and still talks with that creepy voice, he just seems like a stalker...a very creepy stalker.

Well, I definitely think Morley needs to turn Heel. I don't think I would make him a manager or place him with the Beautiful People, or anything like that.

What I think they should do is keep the porn director gimmick, but turn him Heel.

What I am picturing is a different valet accompanying him each time, similar to what Hunter Hearst Helmsley was doing around 96-97 with that. And that would be an implied performer of his. He would come to ringside to wrestle with a camera videotaping the valet as she comes down. He takes a break as the match starts, wrestles, and when the match is over, he brings his valet into the ring over his defeated opponent's body. Then, the girl makes out with the guy, as Morley videotapes it.

Afterwards, he gets the girl off the opponent, and starts stomping the opponent out of the ring, as he makes out with the girl.

Obviously, we can also play around with occasional flashes of him being a male chauvinistic pig with the gimmick. Once in a while, he should bully around and do some degrading things to some of his women to get him a ton of heat. Boss them around. Abuse them physically once in a while. That type of thing.

That should help prolong his career. So I think the Porn Director gimmick is doable, but you have to definitely turn him Heel, and you have to do MUCH MORE with the gimmick than what we currently have seen, which has pretty much been nothing.

The gimmick, in other words, needs to be brought to life on the screen.

I'm in agreement with Sidious here. I think that Sean Morley's porn director gimmick, when handled like that, can help TNA have the adult situations and programming I want. With a heel porn producer, we have something for the "Attitude-Era Sex TV" crowd. With the hints of chauvinism, we have a deeper character. With the actual directors and cameramen, as well as the women, we have someone actually playing their gimmick instead of just saying they direct adult films. It works on so many levels.

Now if Morley did what you wrote it would definitely help his character. I for one would definitely be a fan of a heel Morley pretty much acting like a pig. Just like Afro-Ameri-Spawn already said, Morley has done NOTHING to freshen up his character. Its been the same Val Venis for years now. He would clearly be freshened up playing the scummy dirtbag porn director. But i doubt it happens.

I think the porn director gimmick is 100% guy who hangs around in alleyways in the dark style creepy and there's no way you could salvage that as a face. You could turn him heel and make him into a reasonably big deal, but I don't really see the point in pushing him, I don't think he's as popular as he used to be, and I think he was largely only popular then because he was a bit edgy.

What to do then? Well as stale as it is, I would turn him back into his original face gimmick. The only reason anyone cares about him is nostaligically and I would make him a guy who puts people over, much like he was in WWE. That way, those who want to see him can, but resources aren't being poured on a guy who is old.

Morley is a good hand and can be used effectively. Morley needs to drop the porn thing and become an "enforcer" or sorts. Put him with Flair, AJ and Wolfe and you have a pretty cool stable with Morley being the muscle of the group....the Arn Anderson enforcer type role.
