Sandow's First Fued.

Hey guys!

So i take it we've all seen atleast one of Damien Sandows video packages and... well, theyre fine! Nothing to write home about! In any case his debut is next week! Who, what when where and why is my question, though that's a little vague i'll admit so i'll wind it up a small bit... Who should Sandows first fued be against, under what premise and where will it take him??

My idea is pretty simple: Zack "nothing better to do" Ryder. This guy seems to epitomise (spelt correctly) everything that Sandow is not, he is the current manifestation of entertainment, all gimmick, all the time, not much substance beyond a catchphrase and a half... Sandow would hate him! If he wants to bring enlightenment to the WWE this is where he should start!

Now we know recently that EVE unfortunately came out as the instigator of the edits to Zack Ryder's show, and with her strong ties to Big Johhny this would be a perfect place to slot in Sandow. John laurenites has already hired brock to restore legitimacy, why not hire Sandow to restore intelligence??

Thats my two cents atleast, what would you do??

Well I agree with that for sure. I think that Sandow/Ryder feud could actually be done well.

If Ted Dibiase wasn't injured, I'd even suggest him. That would be a very interesting feud, to be honest.

I'd say the Miz.

These two could cut great promos together and we could finally see a Miz face turn, have him portray a hard worker who's had to scratch and claw for everything he's got and Sandow trying to drag him down.

EDIT: Have the Miz beat Santino for the US championship and have Miz/Sandow feud over that. Get Samdow to win it PPV after next, have him redisgn it, etc. Miz could go even more face here by playing the patriotic "I'll save the US role" and by relying on his previous hard work.

Thanks! Yeah I'm pretty sure we cant have another guy squash for a while and hope it works! I know theres a sort of YOU CANT LOSE YOUR FIRST MATCH kind of vibe most the time, but i think if the guy come out looking good thats all that matters! A five minute loss is sometimes better than a 30second squash! Putting the guy in a losin match with a guy who has a little sream is fine! If he gets the win another week he looks all the better! Di Biase would be great too! Another face who likes to have fun!!

I thin R-Truth would be a perfect start for Sandow, he just turned face and "Little Jimmy" has gone from a conspiracy to a cheap method of making R-Truth entertaining.

Ryder is a good idea too, and you also have guys like Santino, CM Punk, or even Mick Foley who can be called out under the gimmick. He's got a great starting point to work from and I'm excited to see his debut.

I can't really add anything else here. I completely agree with the OP on the Zack Ryder note. Ryder seems to stand for the whole reality tv era that Sandow despises. Or, they could do the same angle with the Miz. He comes from that background, so they could use the whole 'The Real World' or whatever that show is called, as part of the angle.

Come to think of it, Miz is the better choice, in my opinion. His mic work is far superior, plus, he is the better in-ring worker. It's hard to tell what Sandow will be like on the mic, as all his promos have been pre-taped, so though they are delivered well, he may not be as fluent live. Or at least on Smackdown, where you don't get as many chances to re-do stuff. I'm quite looking forward to Sandow debuting. I think he has an interesting look, and his character is one that is easy to hate. So this could do wonders for Miz as he seems to need a character change desperately. So as of now, I feel Miz is the best choice, though Ryder is a close second.

Though to be honest, they will probably go with the random jobber option, or just have him squash guys like Tyson Kid and Michael Migilligutty for a while. Funny how WWE only want to bring up FCW guys when a story line is available to them, but so far, all we've seen them do is come out and squash people.

To me the feud that I love with to see, and hear me out on this. Ryback should be his first feud. This is how I would book this:

During one of Ryback's matches, Sandow comes out and attacks Ryback. Later in an interview, he says that he needed to make a statement and who better to make a statement out of then someone who won't even face a real superstar(like himself). The next week the two have a match, Sandow wins by cheating.

Ryback wants a rematch, so he gets one the next week. He loses by count out. The two are placed in a tag match the next week with say bryan and orton as their partners. Bryan wins it for the team. Sandow attacks ryback after the match and a match is schedualed for the next PPV. During the PPV match, someone interferes and costs ryback the match.

Ryback ends up feuding with the guy who interfered, and Sandow can move into the intercontential title picture.

I think his first feud should be Zack Ryder.

I remember the first promo that aired and most of it was describing the age we live in now and the music, fist-pumping, etc.. and I thought of Zack Ryder. The way I look at it, Ryder is a portion of the embodiment of everything that makes Sandow sick and he wants to save the fans from people like him. Makes sense to me.

The only problem with all of this; Ryback's a relatively new talent to the Smackdown roster. A talent that has yet to be established in the grand scheme of things. Ryback has yet to get over on a consistent basis so what good would pairing these two together do them? The crowd would be deader than any Superstars taping. Neither Ryback nor Sandow need that. Sandow needs someone who's solidly over. He needs someone who will get him heat; Zack Ryder's a perfect example of this. Ryder is everything Damien Sandow goes against. The tanning, the social media; Zack Ryder will make for the perfect opponent for Damien Sandow to start off on. If anything, we'll get to see Sandow work the mic in front of a live crowd. Based off this feud, we might get a glimpse of what Sandow's future holds.

Too early to tell with Sandow. For the first month or so, they'll work primarily on setting Sandow up as someone to make an impression in some way. They did it with Clay, they're doing it with Ryback and I'm sure Sandow will be no different. I don't expect any monster squashes from him, more along the lines of really setting his character up as a presence on television.

A feud with Ryder sounds like an interesting and even logical idea. In Sandow's promos, which I think shows him coming off as an eloquent speaker, which is part of his character after all, he also comes off as an intellectual snob that looks down on people for certain cultural and entertainment choices they made. Sandow has taken shots as popular shows like Jersey Shore and others for being...well basically stupid in his eyes. Zack Ryder comes off as someone that is exactly the type of person that Sandow has been railing against in his video promos. It's also true that Ryder doesn't have anything going on right now. His push has certainly cooled and he's no longer as over with the audience as he once was.

As a few others have pointed out already, I think it will be quite a while before we see him wrestle. We'll get more vignettes, some back stage incidents where the talks in a derogatory manner to other superstars and maybe him even coming out and doing some stints on commentary before he actually wrestles.

I also think that we'll get to know the ID of his first feud well before they actually wrestle. I think he'll observe/study him first, you may get shots of him watching his matches in the back on monitors before he actually wrestles him. This would fit in with his considered, studied characted.

As for the ID of the first opponent. I think Ryder is an excellent choice. Although he's dropped off the side of a cliff since that alarmingly fast push pre-mania, he still gets good face pops and so if Sandow went after him and either destroyed him/got some cheap shots in, this would garner him some heel heat almost straightaway. Makes sense.
