Sami Zayn Heel Turn

Glacier

Pre-Show Stalwart
It finally happened-

do you think this is a good move? I dont think he could get any
lower on the card as a face if he tried, so this can only be a move
up.

Maybe team with Owens every now and then?

It's the best move they could have done right now, and I love how borderline mental he looked during that whole thing. With the right booking there's no reason why this shouldn't work.

The only thing that might interfere is Sami being way too likable, but the look on his face and performance from that turn alone makes it look like he has some range to make it work. Hopefully we see him tap into a part of his persona we haven't seen.

Teaming with Owens would definitely be interesting, I'm interesting to see what their relationship will be after this considering all the on-screen abuse. I think they'll go with a conflicted Sami at first but eventually they'll completely coexist and reaffirm their friendship. Honestly I wouldn't mind a tag title run.

Why does Zayn always needs Owens in order to do something that's relevant? Zayn's only true solo feud was against Strowman. The rest of his career has been centered around Kevin Owens.

I don't mind watching Zayn be a heel with Owens and it will probably end up being gold, but they're always throwing Zayn in there. Why can't he do something else?

I'm not fully convinced it's a heel turn.

It didn't look like he took any joy to helping KO. No smiling etc. He looked shocked that he had done it.

Think there is more behind it than a basic heel turn.

AJ Styles said it best on Talking Smack after the show. Why would he help someone who powerbombed him multiple times on a ring apron? Then again this is pro wrestling and a guy who curb stomped his former team mate into a pile of cinderblocks has rekindled his love with said team mate so logic is always thrown out the window.

I like it a lot. Sami was floundering to no fault of his own and I was surprised that his move to Smackdown did absolutely nothing to his career and he was losing 3 minute matches to Kanellis and English. It's not like Smackdown has too many tag teams so the more the better and I've wanted to see Sami and Owens team up for years now. Ultimately I see Owens winning the WWE Championship and Zayn turning on him for it leading to a pay per view main event. With the right booking I could have seen Sami winning the rumble and them squaring off at Mania, but I think we are too close for that too happen.

Interesting to see where this will go.

This will all be a part of a story where Zayn needs to ride Owens coattails to get ahead. I could see it play out as a possible double turn, have Zayn turn on Owens at the Rumble.

Yes, yes and yes again.

I absolutely loved this. Sami Zayn has been stuck in an awakward position on the card for a long time now, and has struggled to gain any momentum as a face because the reality is that there are bigger and better faces on the show. Now I do think there are better heels too, but this is something completely new and fresh, so automatically Sami is placed quite highly in the interest of the fans. The best thing is that nobody knows why he's done what he's done and that's what made this turn so good for me.

I understand that yet again this does involve Kevin Owens, but I don't think it's a bad thing necessarily. It's a shock and aligns him with a pretty despised heel with the casual fans, and a guy who really knows how to get to people. Whether this is a true alliance or not, I can't figure out yet. I guess we will find out. But I'm perfectly happy to let Owens be a part of this chapter for Sami if it leads on to much bigger things.

Being from montreal i kinda get why they did this. Zayn as always been in the shadow of Owens since owens started in WWE. Even when he comes to Montreal, It'S always Owens that does the media tours and he's the one that gets a new t-shirt every time he does a show in montreal and out of the 2 local guy, he the more over of the 2 so i get why they push him as much as owens.

So now at less with him turning heel, it give him something to do for a while but he fear that it's going to turn out like Zayn is just their to ride owens co tails and at some point Owens will dump him and we're going to be right back to we're we started.

Nothing is clear at this point but it seems like a good move. Sami has felt stale and unimportant lately so any kind of switch feels like a good move.

I'm still going with my NXT invasion idea as HHH is slowly putting together pieces to get himself control of SD. Corbin may be next, maybe throw Nakamura in there. Ultimately leading to Shane and HHH at Mania for control of SD. Shane has to be kind of tired being an on camera actor and DB's contract may come to an end.

Who knows though? Maybe Zayn and Owens form a tag team. New Day needs someone new to fight at some point.

I'm not really sure how this plays out or if it's even an actual heel turn, at least as of right now.

One scenario could be that Zayn interfered because despite all that Kevin Owens has done to him, he couldn't stand by to see the father of his godson possibly have his career ended. I could see something like this for Zayn where he was so torn because he knew that someone would get seriously hurt and he had to choose. As a result, maybe this leads to a heel turn whenever Shane demands an explanation and/or punishes Zayn for what happened.

A more obvious scenario is that Zayn "finally woke up" and realized that maybe Owens had been right all along. The last time Owens said anything about him, on SmackDown Live, was a reminder of their careers in WWE; despite Zayn being signed first to WWE, Owens is the one who's gone onto succeed because of his ruthless tactics. Owens took the NXT Championship at Sami Zayn's expense and after being in NXT for only a few months made it to the main roster. In that time, Owens has been Universal Champion, 3 time United States Champion and 2 time Intercontinental Champion; he's spent almost his entire time on the main roster chasing after or wrestling as a champion.

It'll be interesting to see where this is going, though I kind of hope that they don't really give us the full explanation or direction where this is headed in one night.

Hello Everyone,

This is the best thing that they can do for Sami at this moment. He was a baby face for so long and they barely used him. He had a few feuds but most memorable was the one with Braun and that was car crash. (It was against Braun Strowman, the man probably eats Sami Zayns weight in food in a week.) If they choose to keep him with KO, I think Sami should do what KO did against him in NXT and and just wreck him after a huge title win. Just start a "I can make it on my own. You may have showed me the way but I can do it your way and make it better and reach greater heights then you ever did" and thats when the push Sami Zayn. They need to push this man. He is a WWE guy and he deserves this push.
