Mr. TM

Throwing a tantrum
Sam Mitchell has been fired as the head coach of the lame Toronto Raptors. The Raptors were a team that was expected to post great numbers this year, possibly being in the top 3, and a great chance of winning their division if they worked hard. But that did not come to be, and the team is hovering below the 500 mark this season. This year was going to be the deciding part in Mitchell's carrer with the Raptors. He was either going to put forth a top 2-3 showing, with a chance of winning the NBA Finals this year, or he was going to be released. The first option did not look like it was going to happen at this point in the season. With his release went the coach that had the most wins with the Raptors, as well as serving the longest. He has been replaced by assistant coach Jay Triano for the time being. What do you think, was his release needed?

Absolutely not. This is what aggrivates me about sports teams anymore: they have absolutely no patience. They had played less than 20 games. Mitchell won coach of the year two years ago and had his team in the playoffs last season. The Eastern conference is top heavy and a sub 500 team can make the playoffs. It's not as if Toronto was 2-15. They got blown out for one game. The Raptors' management act as if this never happens to anyone else. As far as the division goes, Toronto is in the same division as Boston, so we'll just factor them out. Apart from them, Toronto was a game back from 1st place. THat's hardly worth firing your coach over. Just a bad move.
