Rusev's Wrestlemania opponent

Not Championship Material
After last night's TLC match, we have to wonder where Rusev goes from here and what he does on the biggest ppv of the year.

A lot of people assume that he will be fed to Cena just like Umaga, but I think it will be Swagger again.

They have had 2 ppv matches already both decent quality wrestling matches, the first ended on a count out, the second Swagger passed out in the accolade.

Rusev has never been pinned or made to submit, but he hasn't been able to pin or force Swagger to submit either.

A third and final showdown at WM would be a great ending point and honestly it would be best for Swagger to end Rusev's undefeated streak while it is still relevant as opposed to handing it over to Cena who gets no boost from the win. But that's just my two cents.

If they really want to get the fans behind Roman Reigns it will be him. Reigns is too green for the WWE title match, and I think his best bet is to go up against a heel of Rusev's caliber. He can always use his cousin the Rock on the mic to berate Lana if need be.

This would give Reigns a chance to get his singles career started, fans would rally behind him and stop the impending backlash coming his way.

Have they fought in a submission match I think it could work. Have Rusev change the name of the United States Championship, to the Russian Championship or whatever. Have Swagger want to win the title back and change it to the way it was, and have that lead to a Wrestlemania feud.

The only other people I can see feuding with Rusev at Wrestlemania are Ryback, a returning Daniel Bryan (If he somehow returns by Wrestlemania) and maybe Dolph Ziggler booked correctly.

What I really want to see is Roman Reigns Vs Rusev at Wrestlemania.. I know Reigns is probably going to have his big Wrestlemania moment, and probably end up leaving Wrestlemania with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. But I feel this match if booked correctly could give Reigns a huge Wrestlemania match, and Rusev would lose to a pretty credible person.

Lol Navi posted just before I did, but yea. Reigns Vs Rusev in my opinion is the way to go.

The rivalry with Swagger should continue until wrestlemania. I know WWE is pretty short sighted with its mid card, but I have a nice storyline idea. Give Swagger off until rumble, then bring him out to eliminate Rusev.. Then have Rusev get over big time on Swagger yet again at the Fast Lane (haha) PPV. Finally leading up to Wrestlemania have Swagger (or zeb) cut a promo that if Swagger cannot beat Rusev at Mania he'll hang it up.. in turn, Lana says of course Rusev will win... if he doesnt retire Swagger he's no longer the hero of the russian federation.. Swagger can finally get his against Rusev, and Rusev gets a chance to drop the stupid Russian Putin monster gimmick. Bingo.

Uh, hate to break it to you, but last night, if you watch the match back and pay attention to the ending, you can see Swagger's right hand lightly hitting Rusev's leg in a tapping motion, thereby causing the referee to call for the submission, so that's already out the window. I missed it the first time myself, but watching it back on replay I noticed he tapped. Besides, Swagger's already had his chance and he's proven he can't get it done, even when Rusev is damaged goods. I'd say the next guy who can really benefit from facing and possibly beating Rusev is either Ryback or Roman Reigns. Rusev has a lot to gain from beating either of them as well, so it's win-win. People are saying Reigns isn't ready for the top spot yet, so why not give him a chance to see how he does as US champ?

Swagger did not tap, the ref was checking his arm for a reaction, what you saw was his arm going limp after the ref let go.

Wrestlemania is meant to be special. I dont want too see an old feud played out until this event! I honestly think they could be priming Hogan as the American hero to finally end Rusev. You want the old crowd back watching your product then Hogan is your man.

Yeah, and then I saw his hand weakly hit against Rusev's leg a few times, which indicates a tapout. Swear to you, go back and watch it closely.

To be honest I have no clue where they are going with Cena at this point if he ends up losing to Lesnar. I'm not even a fan of Rusev so I say have Cena face Rusev at WrestleMania and let Cena bury him.

I've been saying this the whole time...Rusev vs Lesnar....Lesnar can be a great face with Heyman doing the talking. I would love to see this match!! Lana and Rusev saying nobody in WWE can beat them...build it up for a few weeks...hit Lesnar's music...the place will go nuts and get behind Brock. It doesn't have to be the main event at WM...

Hogan and Swagger are laughable. Rusev would destroy anyone on the roster including Reigns...look what he did to Swagger.

Cena or Brock are the only one with a chance...And pretty much everyone hates Cena so that is a disaster from a Marketing standpoint.

I'm still hoping that Ziggler vs Rusev can happen at Mania, given the momentum of the former. He can be a made man if he finally wins it for the USA.

However, either Cena or even Brock would be interesting possibilities as well. Roman and Ryback are the others.

I can easily see Rusev interfering randomly in the Brock-Cena match at the Rumble to setup a match between the Evil Russian and Hustle,Loyalty and Respect.
However, a Face Lesnar putting over Rusev would also be an interesting way to go, if the WWE thinks Rusev should stay undefeated.

So there are lots of possibilities for him going into Mania. Will be interesting to see who gets the nod, though I do feel Cena is going to be the one come Mania.

A win over Cena would do wonders for Rusev.

But if they plan on having him lose then I guess it really doesn't matter. Maybe feeding him to Ambrose or Reigns could be a nice upper midcard feud. If they haven't soured on Ziggler by WM, an IC/US Title Unification match would be cool. Maybe Cesaro gets another Andre Slam moment. Nobody would really care about a Rusev/Ryback match but it would fill up the card if they aren't already in some pointless battle Royal.

Honestly, I don't see the point in building him up and making him this big deal just to have him lose. I say let him beat Cena because they need young top heels.

Or maybe hit up Chris Jericho to come up with another cool gimmick match to kick off the show since MITB is it's own thing now.

Cena being his WM opponent would make sense. A feud with Rusev definitely fits Cena's character. It would be a huge rub for Rusev if he got to work with John at WM.

Ryback could be an interesting opponent, but that match might be too much of a train wreck which could end up hurting both of them.

People seriously think Swagger is still a legitimate opponent for Rusev? How many times has he been beaten now? 4? I thought TLC was pretty much the end of the road for that feud seeing as Swagger was pretty much destroyed by Rusev in less than 10 minutes I believe. If that were indeed the match at Mania, I can safely say I'd be pretty disappointed based on what we got last night.

But, ultimately I think the match went down like it did to indeed set up a Rusev/Cena match at Mania. Rusev had to look strong and beating the man that came closest to beating him pretty soundly, is the best way to do that. As for who will win, not sure and don't really care tbh.

Definitely not Swagger. It already felt old at TLC last night and Rusev has already beaten him convincingly. Definitely not Lesnar either. The whole point of Lesnar ending the streak and winning the title was to make him look like an unstoppable force so the next big baby face can look strong in unseating him, which means...Definitely not Reigns. He does seem like a great opponent but Reigns is being positioned to be the guy to beat Lesnar. Hopefully not Hogan. Enough is enough.

Ryback is not a bad choice but I think Cena is the way to go. Win or lose working with Cena at mania would be great for Rusev. Cena vs. Rusev would be fresh and intriguing. The only problem is I don't see Cena challenging for the US title and I would want Rusev to still be undefeated which means he would still have to be champ. I guess he could lose it in some kind of gimmick. Either way Cena is the most intriguing opponent for Rusev for mania.

I think Reigns should be a good choice, EXCEPT they've fought twice on TV and those matches were SOOOOOOO boring. THey have no chemistry and can you imagine the banter? The Big Show, Henry, Zeb and even Sheamus are good on the mic. Reigns is not. Lana is good at cutting promos, but their rarely is any kind of banter with her. Usually the good guy makes them look like fools on the mic, only for the villain to win the match. How can Reigns do that?
