Rumble Returns/Debut

BrutalBarrett

Occasional Pre-Show
With the Royal Rumble on our screens in a few days I thought it would be a bit of fun to see what everyone's predictions were for Returns and Debuts, if any, considering there are 2 rosters competing in the rumble and the inclusion of Lesnar, Goldberg and Taker.

Do you think anyone will return to WWE in the rumble? Whether it's just for the night or a small run for a few months etc.

Do you think anyone will debut? Samoa Joe? Nakamura? Etc.

Also sorry if this has been done already, I couldn't find a similar post.

The chances of something unexpected happening are, as always with the Royal Rumble, pretty good. That said, the chances of it happening at this Royal Rumble match are actually a little slimmer than they have been in the past and that's because of the wealth of talent that the WWE seems to have at their disposal right now. I think, at last count, the WWE had named 21 or 22 people who were definitely going to be in the Royal Rumble match. But that doesn't include the losers of the Championship matches (Reigns, Owens, Cena or Styles). It also didn't include people lie Jason Jordan or Chad Gable, who have nothing else to do that night and who should be a part of the Rumble match at least. And it doesn't include someone like Seth Rollins, who I am positive will be in the match itself after some sort of play at the Rumble. So really, you have close to around 26 or 27 names that could and should be in the match.

With the remaining spots that are left, you get to think about some of the surprises that might be on the way. Kurt Angle has said that he wont be at the Royal Rumble match and I tend to believe him. So really, the only people I am interested in seeing making a return, or coming to the WWE are Finn Balor and Kenny Omega. Do I think that Kenny Omega would be put in this Royal Rumble, given the star power that the WWE has in this match? Not a chance. That's if he would even consider going to the WWE at all. So that leaves us with Finn Balor, who I think will make his return on Sunday night. I think he is healthy and will be cleared to make his return during the Rumble match.

The only other person I'd like to see be in the Royal Rumble who hasn't been announced is Nakamura. I think he has done his time in NXT and deserves to have a crack at the main roster. The crowd would pop for him like never before and it would be a just reward for everything he has put into his WWE. The fact is though, Joe is very likely to get the nod before Nakamura is.

Samoa Joe will most likely be in it but I would be surprised if Nakamura was in it due to him still holding the NXT title and expected to remain with the brand for a while longer.

Likely debuts/returns

Samoa Joe is the most likely one to debut on the main roster at Royal Rumble and I'm all happy with it. He's been on fire as a badass heel at NxT and there couldn't be a better place for him to debut. I don't know why but I think that Triple H will return as well, likely continuing the storyline with Seth Rollins.

Unlikely but I would love

Tye Dillinger at no.10 for sure.
Kurt Angle too.

I don't think that either Nakamura or Bobby Roode will be called up this soon.

I think Joe is a definite. He's not got a NXT Takeover match, and he doesn't really have much else to do there.

As for Nakamura, I can see him losing the NXT Title to Roode at Takeover and then lose his rematch on Mania weekend and then debut on the Raw after Mania and start a power struggle between Raw and Smackdown to get his services

I'd bet my house on Joe debuting at some point during the PPV. I think I'd prefer if he interfered in the WWE Championship match than if he showed up as a Rumble entrant. He's not gonna win (I would think) plus entering the Rumble would create confusion as to what brand he's on, etc.

No chance for Nakamura. He's literally the lifeblood of NXT right now.

Tye Dillinger I can see entering, at 10 of course cuz haha puns but I don't think it'd be a permanent call up. Just for the Rumble, then he gets thrown out and goes back to NXT.

[Insert B-level legend here]

MAYBE Jerry Lawler for a quick spot with Ziggler.

I was thinking Finn for a while, but I'm losing confidence with that and don't think it's likely anymore.

That's about it. That would leave five spots left that I think will be filled up with lowcard main roster people because despite the Rumble being so stacked this year, you still need your quick elimination fodder. I don't think the surprises will be as good as they've been in years past, but they don't need to be.

Joe will most likely debut, that's for sure.

Returns? Finn Balor. He's coming back. We haven't heard anything though. I'm just hoping he comes back.

I can't think of anyone else right now. People also want Dillinger to come in at #10. Maybe he can, for a one-night only thing. Is he ready for the main roster?

Shaq is also a likely entrant. Shaq, Big Show, Strowman and Big Cass in the same ring will be interesting.

I'm tipping that the debut from NXT will be Samoa Joe being in the Rumble. Articles on wrestlezone have said that he will be brought up prior to Wrestlemania. I wouldn't be surprised if it is done here.

I tip that the big return will be Kurt Angle, which will bring the crowd to their feet. I also hope Shelton Benjamin returns in the Rumble.

I Hope that Samoa Joe and Tye Dillinger debut in the Rumble.
Also it seems likely that Kurt Angle will be returning in it, plus another legend that I would have inducted in the hall of fame this year - Diamond Dallas Page.

Balor and Omega seem unrealistic now, and it's too early to have Nakamura called up.

Edit:
Now I saw some other comments and rather than DDP, I would rather have Shelton Benjamin return and then have Angle come out with Angle and Benjamin reform 2\3 of Team Angle.

Also I just thought of an idea.
If WWE wants to get a huge shocker, and they will have Kenny Omega debut it should be as the entrant number....
!! 31 !!

Have the clock start counting again, after the #30 entered, and then have Omega come out. It would be huge!!

So as a debut, the only person was Tye Dillinger at No. 10 obviously because he's perfect ten. I wasn't sure about him debuting as mentioned in my earlier post and WWE did make me happy by debuting him here. I think that it was just a one-off for now.

The man I was almost sure was Samoa Joe and he didn't debut. If he doesn't debut at Raw or Smackdown this week, I don't get what's the plan for him. He wasn't involved in any TakeOver match and that almost confirmed his debut. Let's see if he debuts and where and when.
