Royal Rumble 2016: WWE United States Championship - Alberto Del Rio (c) VS Kalisto

Jack-Hammer

YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!!
As mentioned last night on Raw, the rubber match between Del Rio and Kalisto for the US title happens this Sunday. In what's been two of the best matches we've seen Del Rio involved with in quite a while, even before he left WWE, this should be another entertaining bout.

I expect Del Rio will retain here to end the feud with each of them having won two matches each. While I don't care much for hot potato runs, especially 24 hour runs, I have come away with the impression that this singles run is part of laying the groundwork for something to happen with Kalisto later on down the line.

Like Y 2 Jake said, there's not much to see here.

If Kalisto wins, so what? He's already won. If Del Rio wins, so what? He'll be the same boring champion he's always been.

The match should be good, but we've seen good matches from these two. Three to be exact. All in the last two weeks.

This is the problem in WWE. 95% of the show, you have seen before. I'm holding out hope things will change, but I'm not optimistic.

The result can't really be predicted because none of us can be certain as to whether Kalisto is to be sold as 'the next Rey Mysterio' or not. Specifically, it might be he was simply scheduled for a short run before Sin Cara comes back. Too early to tell.

Honestly, it surprised me when Del Rio won the belt back so quickly; it made me wonder what the Kalisto title win was even for.

Now, the feud is on again.....and I doubt it will extend much past the Rumble. If Del Rio keeps the title, I wouldn't bet on Kalisto having the presence many of us hoped he would.

I think it's an interesting match-up since it's billed as a rubber match, which means that however wins Sunday, gets to be the champion. Actually, both men seem to have equal chances of winning really.

Logic says, Kalisto should win. Because if he doesn't, what was the reason to give him an 1 day title reign, if there's no plan for him to chase that belt in the future against the LON? And since this is the rubber match, I'd like to see him win, possibly with the help of some other babyfaces, that will lead to a 4-on-4 match at Wrestlemania.

However, I want Alberto Del Rio to retain here and beat the hell out of Kalisto in a similar HHH vs Foley feud from 2000, in order to help the League gather some much needed heat, in order to build up during Wrestlemania season a returning Cesaro taking these goons out.

If they gather heat now, Cesaro's return and victory will seem way bigger and much better.

But that's just me speculating.

All logic dictates that Alberto Del Rio should retain in dominant fashion. But, the League of Nations has been booked as a complete and total joke, losing all their major matches including MULTIPLE Handicap Matches to Roman Reigns. Heels are not allowed to succeed in WWE, so Del Rio will probably job quickly to Kalisto to further prove that the entire League is incompetent.

Seen it.
On TV.
Twice.
In one week.
With two title changes.

This match offers me nothing.

Three times, good sir.

Three. Which beats the fuck out of me why Cole is idiotically calling this the "rubber match"....Motherfucker the rubber match was the match Del Rio won the title back in. The score is 2 - 1 Kalisto.

The fact they had the "match were Kalisto JUST BARELY beats Del Rio" first out of the series. Logically you have that match, then have Kalisto upset a few guys en route to earning a shot, then have this match at the Rumble.

My only solace is that all of the matches have been very good, and expect no less from this one, but this time, I can have a reasonable expectation of Kalisto having a chance.

I really hope its Kalisto this time so that he has a reasonable title reign which he has earned through his work. Yeah they have had 3 matches but i like in-ring work of both so i am really invested in this match. :p

And Yes, Alberto El Patron is really better than Alberto Del Rio despite being the same person

Well, good. It was Kalisto regaining the title.....and apparently, his push is back on. When ADR took the belt last time they fought, I figured WWE had decided to abandon their 'next Rey Mysterio' project for Kalisto.......but happily, they're still on board with it. Good!

I thought last night's match was super......and still don't understand people not appreciating Alberto Del Rio. His ability to make a match work with anyone is incredible, imo. He even took a couple of missed spots by Kalisto and incorporated them well enough that the casual observer probably didn't know there were flubs.

There's still plenty for ADR to do.

Absolutely horrible booking. Alberto Del Rio jobs clean to a low-level tag team competitor on RAW. Then he wins the title back in a match on SmackDown where COULD NOT defeat Kalisto without cheating, making Del Rio look even weaker. Then at the Rumble he drops the title back to Kalisto, in a botch-filled match, again with a clean loss. Kalisto is not a star and should not be holding major singles championships for at least another year. This accomplished nothing but completely BURYING Alberto Del Rio, one of WWE's few remaining marketable stars.
