I'm backign StarCraft because it's a game I love still today and been replaying it prior to the tournie.
StarCraft in my honest opinion, is one of the great stragety games of all time. Currently until the sequel comes out, it's been a one off game that is still popular despite the likes of World of Warcraft being around. This one is a true gem because you appreciate it better. Instead of random "kill this guy, destroy this village", you get a thorough storyline with meaning. You get a mix of different missions, some of which never got matched by other games in its genre. What's more, it's actually an old game that works on Vista, which is a plus in my book if I have to be honest.
Where Goldeneye is amazing no doubt, the trouble is, other games have come and gone, and the other problem is the only to play Goldeneye is through an N64, of which is at least a good 60 miles away (don't ask). We'll never get to see Goldeneye as a downloadable because of the problems with Ninteno, Microsoft (who own Rare) and Activision who hold the license to the Bond games.
Both games came out between 96-98 and both got masses of support, Goldeneye was the best FPS, and StarCraft got best PC game of the year. As said earlier, Perfect Dark is a game that came along and did more because it was a shadow sequel, but there have been better FPS that have come since, I mean we voted Halo ahead of Final Fantasy 7, the latter being branded an all time great! StarCraft is still being played today by people, including me and also the much anticipated sequel is out later this year. This a game that has been loved and nurtured and instead of giving an instant sequel to keep them going, they had this game and the expansion. Now the sequel is coming, StarCraft can be appreciated as a great, simply because they wouldn't have been this patient to hold off the sequel until now.
