Rear Naked Bloke
Round 1, TNA:
Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Masahiro Chono
vs.
The Rock 'n' Sock Connection - The Rock & Mick Foley

No spam and no flaming.

TNA rules are identical to WWE rules except:
- The ring has six sides and the ropes are made out of elevator cables for greater tension

Everyone's favourite odd couple takes on The Rock and Mankind.

Highest ratings ever for Raw. You know that show that has been on the air for 16 years? Yep, that was a segment for The Rock and Mic Foley. The greatest drawing tag team of all time. How can you note vote for them? Over some japanese guys you have never seen. What, is that, 9 world title reigns? Something like that. The guy everyone wants back in the WWE. yep, that guy.

Now don't let someone like me mess up your mind, you know the choice is clear. Vote for the sock.

I'm going with Rock 'N' Sock here. We all know Foley can perform in a TNA ring, and I'm pretty sure The Rock could perform anywhere. This would be a great match, but it probably ends with a People's Elbow, with Mick donning the ref shirt to count his own team's fall.

So you're taking one segment out of one show to prove that Rock and Foley will win a tag team match? The Rock was awful in 1999 and Foley was Foley and they didn't accomplish much as a tag team anyway except three forgettable championship reigns. Tenzan and Chono had quickness and power in their arsenal and I believe they can isolate Foley and wear him down and proceed to do the same to the Rock. Tenzan/Chrono wins this and nothing is going to change my mind.

Foley is a stockholder in TNA. He would just set it up under whatever rules he'd like. I know Tenzan and Chono are both great, but this is in America, where their Japanese greatness means jack. This is going to the Rock N Sock, plain and simple. A Rock Bottom ends this, but the winners are tested.

First off...

His name is Masahiro CHONO. Not Chrono.

It pains me to have to vote against a team like Tenzan & Chono, but I simply have to go with the majority here and vote for Rock n Sock. Foley and Rocky as a combo is just too good for these two amazing athletes.

Vote Tenzan & Chono people. I voted for Rock n Sock...but Tenzan & Chono deserve some votes as well.

As singles wrestlers, I love The Rock and Mick Foley. However, as a tag team, they were a joke. Seriously, they LITERALLY were. All they did was joke around and play stupid ass games. And their matches were shit, too.

Honestly, they sucked as a team, and kayfabe wise... they would get fucking raped by Masahiro Chono and Hiroyoshi Tenzan, aka one of the absolute greatest Japanese tandems of all time. There was nothing funny about these guys. They were serious business every time they came to that ring, and The Rock and Mick Foley would not be prepared for just how tough these two are.

Plus, the simple fact is, as years as a team and being 5-time IWGP Tag Team Champions, they simply contributed more to the business AS A TEAM than The Rock 'N Sock Connection did. Rock and Foley lasted as a team for a couple of months, if that long, and all they did was give us a chuckle or two. Why do they deserve to beat such a histrionically great team such as Chono and Tenzan? Someone, please tell me?

the rock and sock are two of the all time wwf greats - the highest drawing tag team in history and generally just portrayed with almost godlike capabilities, especially the rock. vote rock n sock.

I'm going overseas here with Chono and Tenzan. From what I've read they were an absolutely credible team and Mick Foley is like the Cubs of wrestling, everyone's favorite loser. Foley is the man and one of my all time favorites and the Rock is, the Rock. But Tenzan and Chono were a beast of a team and probably won't win, but they deserve some votes.

Chono & Tenzan for sure, hands down. Mick Foley & The Rock were not much of a great pairing considering the tag team division. They were basically made together for the comedic skits & introducing the Rock to Foley's punching bad Al Snow. As singles wrestlers, they can achieve something great depending on the match type... but they always limit themselves in tag matches.

Chono/Tenzan has quickness & speed on their side, not to mention the amount of time they spent teaming together & absolutely owning the division at points. In singles matches, Sock/Rock would win... however, tagging together MUST go with Chono/Tenzan.

EDIT: I just voted then & it pains me that people are picking Rock 'n' Sock mainly because they either don't know whom the other dudes are or because they are the biggest draw in tag team history. Neither of these count when assessing which team will win. It's all about skills & experience here people, make the right choice &

VOTE TENZAN/CHONO

Ahhh, yeah, that's total bullshit Falkon. There are no set rules of criteria in this tournament, and this issue has been brought up countless times. If someone wants to use drawing power or impact on the business as criteria for their vote, they can.

Seriously, if anyone tells someone "You aren't voting right!", I'm going to flip out. This has to be brought up about 9000 times during every tournament.

If you want to vote on drawing power, you sure as fuck can do so.

X, I am just merely expressing my opinions towards anyone whom wants to make a decision here to say that you must think a little bit more logically than drawing power. I don't really care if people use drawing power as a main line on their decision, it's there opinion. Much like my signature, I am trying to persuade people to vote the other way, something I am much entitled to do in my opinions about the match.

I mean, drawing power will give the team a boost as the crowd can certainly get behind Rock/Sock Connection that may give them that unexplainable rushes of energy & seemingly put them on their game... but I am taking these tag tourney matches as "real-scenario's." Drawing power, in my eyes, has little effect on the outcome. This is why I wrote that message, albeit that I should have worded it a little better. I apologise for that, but I will not apologise for saying that drawing power means little.

not really - drawing power is legit. how else does austin go over a large motherfucker like kane or big show etc? the power and influence of the crowd has a massive impact on the outcome of matches, especially for a face team like the rock n sock connection, who will get all the support in a TNA ring who don't know who the other two are tbh.

Please vote Mashiro and Chono, if you haven't voted already and still aren't sure, please allow to me to educate you in the greatness that is the Masahiro Chono and Hiroyoshi Tenzan. First before we get started, let me show you the credentials of a tag team that many of you might not know about.

As we get started here let look at some of the things that make up a great tag team.

Tag Team Experience-Chemistry

Unlike the Rock N Sock Connection, Tenzan and Chono have both spent alot of their careers as Tag Team Wrestlers. The Rock N Sock Connection were more or less, two singles stars put together in a tag team match to take the titles of Big Show and Undertaker. Chono and Tenzan were a tag team that practice the art of tag teaming throughout their careers. Chono along with being a 5 time champ with Tenzan was also in a very successful tag team with Keiji Mutoh ,also known as great Muta who were 2 time champions. Tenzan along with being a 5 time champ with Chono is also a 2 time champ with Satoshi Kojima, all of the above mentioned title reigns were with the IWGP Tag Team Title, which are New Japan Pro Wrestlings Tag Titles,New Japan is also the biggest and most successful organization in japan, I guess it could be compared to the WWE in America. On how to work a tag match and come out on top the edge most defintly goes to Chono & Tenzan.
Tenzan has a spent a total time of 1,566 days as a tag team champion, Chono has spent a total of 1,383 days as a tag champion. They were clearly doing somthing right to keep the titles that long.

In ring work

Tenzan and Chono were 10 times more solid and effective with their ring work then Rock N Connection, and the fact that the Rock N Sock Connection champions for a combined total of less then Two Months were as Chono and Tenzan were champions for a total of 1,010 days should really prove it to anybody that is doubting the team of Chono/Tenzan. Bottom Line, the Rock and Sock were two random singles superstars put together to draw high ratings(no doubting that they did ,as I believe they pulled the biggest raw rating ever) where as Chono and Tenzan were hardcore tag team specialist, that knew anything and everything this is to now in the art of tag team wrestling. They had more then enough tag experience, superior ring work, chemistry and intelligence to defeat the Rock n Sock Connection.

Highest ratings ever for Raw. You know that show that has been on the air for 16 years? Yep, that was a segment for The Rock and Mic Foley. The greatest drawing tag team of all time.

I didnt realize that that High Ratings=Tag Team Specialist, just because alot of people seen then on TV and know who they are doesn't mean they should just go over tag teaming gods like Chono/Tenzan

How can you note vote for them? Over some japanese guys you have never seen. What, is that, 9 world title reigns?
Oh, Im sorry, I didn't realize this was a singles tournament or I would of posted that Chono and Tenzan together have 5 combined world title reigns of New Japan. Silly Me. How could I forget something like that.

Anyways please do the right thing and vote a deserving tag team, vote Masahiro Chono and Hiroyoshi Tenzan.

Once again, a smark favorite will go over a much more experienced and far better tag team. Chono and Tenzan gave the STEINER BROS. fits in legit in ring competition. What makes you think a team consisting of a vagabond like Mankind and an ego maniac like The Rock? I don't know how many times Rock N Sock tag teamed together, but there's no way they'll beat an experienced Tag Team in this tournament. Guess we'll have to wait until a BETTER smark tag team comes along and derails them.

I voted for Chono/Tenzan, because I can.

I'm voting for Tenzan & Chono and here's why...

First of all, I'm a wrestling REALIST that understands how chemistry and teamwork makes a tag team great. Rock and Sock were a funny gimmick and cut great promos, but in the ring they were dogshit. This is a kayfabe tourney, people... not a popularity contest!!

The other reason why I'm voting for Tenzan & Chono is because I wasn't born in the 1990's, like most of you were. So I'm not going to vote for 1990's childhood heroes just because they could cut a promo and draw ratings. We have to think about these two teams actually facing each other... who would win?? I'll be honest... I had never heard of Tenzan & Chono before this tourney began, but I've seen their track record and there's NO WAY that an eyebrow and a sock could take out this tandem.

Guys, wake the fuck up and vote for Tenzan & Chono.

if you've never seen them and only seen their record, compare records then...

the japanese guys is above, here's rock n socks

WCW World Heavyweight Championship (2 times)
WWF/E Championship (7 times)
WWF Intercontinental Championship (2 times)
WWF Tag Team Championship (5 times) – with Mankind (3), The Undertaker (1), and Chris Jericho (1)
Royal Rumble (2000)

and

ECW World Tag Team Championship (2 times) – with Mikey Whipwreck
TNA World Heavyweight Championship (1 time)
TNA Legends Championship (1 time)
WCW World Tag Team Championship (1 time)
WWF Championship (3 times)
WWF Hardcore Championship (1 time, first )
WWF Tag Team Championship (8 times) – with Stone Cold Steve Austin (1), Chainsaw Charlie (1), Kane (2), Al Snow (1) and The Rock (3)

look how many world titles are there - in the biggest companies in the world. people in japan will know who they are...can you say the same in reverse? and look how much tag team experience is here - these guys are legit. just because some people take wrestling too seriously and can't accept comedy doesn't equal poor qualtiy doesn't mean rock n sock would lose to these guys.

Rock and Sock really weren't that good to be honest. They held the Tag Title for a stonking 15 days over three reigns, and lost the title to the Holly Cousins, who are probably among the worst tag teams ever. That isn't saying much for them. I think the fact that this is in TNA will give Chono and Tenzan a shot, after all, the title that they have won 5 times is now a TNA title in all but name, and the company have been known to push foreign stars. This has to go to Chono and Tenzan. Has to.

Rock N' Sock, but it should be a good match. Tenzan and Chono may have cohesiveness and tag experience, but Foley and the Rock are just too good for them. Both of them are main eventers and multiple time world champions. They have the ability to beat almost any team that is put up against them. They would find themselves in a tough match, but they would have enough talent to pull it out in the end.

Also, the Mick Foley being the shareholder think helps RNS, I think.

Im taking the Rock and Sock as Mick Foley as the TNA homefield advantage plus one of the most electrifying men in sports entertainment today THE ROCK. Rock N Sock get tested by a good team but advance.

Honestly, I went with Rock 'n' Sock simply because my knowledge on Chono and Tenzan are slim to none. The Rock is one of the greatest professional wrestlers in the history of the sport. As we've seen throughout history Mick Foley can go with the best of them as well. Both are great inring preformers. Not to mention Foley is a stockholder in TNA. The guys a dirty dirty bastard. He'll gladly set things up for him and The Rock, to finnally get the acceptance from The Rock hes always wanted.

They might have played jokes on the stick. But when it came match time, neither of these men were wrestling in Tutu's and both of them could absolutely run with the best of the best.

The Rock ends this with a Rock Bottom easily. You can't go past the greatest in the Rock and the most harcore superstar to grace TNA or WWE Mick Foley. Together they will go far in this Tourney and they won't be losing in the first round. Seriously though, The Rock could probably win this one single handed. Wether Tenzan and Chono are good or not they just wouldn't be able to go toe to toe with one of the biggest draws and greatest wrestlers in history and Foley is no slouch himself.

Rock n Sock easily FTW.

Like the Holy Demon Army, I see that Tenzan and Chono are a great team, but I’ve never seen them as a Team on a high level like I saw the Rock and Sock Connection. I really enjoyed the Rock and Foley’s run together and being “successful” helps. I’m going with the People’s choice here.

I dont know much about tenzan and chono but from reading previous posts it seems like their not on the same league as rock n sock, The rock would woop their candy asses then let mick foley hard core the shit out of them, then leave the rock to hit a double peoples elbow and a pass into the second round.
