Rock sour on WWE if Reigns loses?

No Count Pup

Just call on me brother
With talk that Brock Lesnar may retain at WrestleMania, it got me thinking about The Rock. Do you think a Reigns loss would sour The Rock's relationship with WWE?

I'm sure The Rock wasn't pleased with how the Royal Rumble was booked; it brought a lot of heat on Reigns. Making Reigns job to Lesnar could irritate The Rock further. Do you think WWE would put the belt on Roman to appease The Rock?

The Rock is way too much a professional to get hung up on something as petty as this. Besides, it's a moot point. There is no way Lesnar leaves Wrestlemania as champion.

I doubt it. The Rock's relationship with WWE has been far too profitable for him to let it hit the skids if WWE doesn't put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on his baby cousin. IF Reigns doesn't win the title at WrestleMania, it's no guarantee he won't win it later on down the line at some point. IF there are doubts as to Reigns now and IF management feels he hasn't gotten the sort of response from fans they were hoping, then keeping putting the title on him is probably not the best way to fix things.

It might irk him some, but the Rock is the Rock.

Undeniably one of the company's (and industry's) biggest and most recognizable stars. I'm not sure it would sour him to the point of not doing business. He's the Rock, after all. His appearances mean $$$. Bottom line. He will survive whatever does or doesn't come of the Reigns endorsement.

It was a last-ditch effort by WWE to save the Rumble. It failed. Even with Rock in the ring.

It might make him re-think his supposed status as the Midas touch for a crap angle, though. lol

I wouldn't think so in all honesty. The fact of the matter is that The Rock knows exactly what wrestling is all about. And what's more he is businessman. I would be stunned if he ever thought that Roman Reigns was a better draw than Brock Lesnar. Wrestling is and always has been a fluid business that means anything can change at the drop of a hat. The Rock knows that fact better than anyone. And deep down he probably knows that it isn't the right time for Roman to get to the very top. Roman has a lot of potential but the WWE doesn't have to rush it if Brock is staying. Give him a bit more time and it can be a better result for everyone. The Rock knows this as well as anyone...

No, there reaches a point in life where you are so knee deep in money, fame, and pussy that you can look past a booking decision of your third cousin once removed (or whatever The Rock is to Reigns).

Rock reached that point about 30 million dollars, 2 million Twitter followers, and 87 vaginas ago.

Doubt It..... At the end of the day The Rock has a great working relationship with WWE and more importantly his connection with The People. He was there at the royal rumble. he heard and accepted the fans rejecting Reigns so im sure he'd understand WWE changing their plans....

As others have said, Rock isn't about to get all bush league on us... He's the peoples champion after all man. ;-)

No, The Rock's not a mark. He realizes the WWE is a business and that Vince will do what Vince thinks is best for business. WWE's been good to The Rock and his family for decades. He makes them money, they make him money. He ain't gonna piss all that away just because his cousin/nephew/eskimo brother or whatever the hell Roman Reigns is didn't get to pretend to win a belt.

I don't think so. It's not like their handling of his other relatives were that great. Look at Umaga and Rikishi. They should have been WWE Champion at some point during their career but they weren't.

I think he was pissed more so because it brought heat on him. Not only Reigns but the Rock got booed out of that arena as well. They could have showered fans with 100 dollars bills and that might have appeased some but not all.

I'm sure even though they are distant relatives the Rock would like to see Reigns do as well as he can, but I don't think the Rock will have anything to say about him getting the title. Don't forget the Rock is a movie star now and a only makes sporadic appearance when his schedule allows. Besides if you are the WWE Champion then you should have earned it, not because your cousin said so.

In addition, if he earns $20 million a movie and sacrifices one film a year at that rate in order to earn a "measly" few million in WWE, he must be doing it because he likes pro wrestling and wants to remain true to his roots....the logic being: If there was never a wrestler named Rock, there surely wouldn't have been a movie star named Dwayne Johnson. Some people have forgotten where they started.....Rock hasn't.

I doubt he cares who wins and who loses in a match, given that the results are determined by writers, not legitimate sports competition. When Rock himself beat Cena, it wasn't arranged that way to placate the Rock; it was done to please the fans.

Dwayne Johnson is already seeing his cousin in the main event of the biggest PPV of the year of the world's foremost sports entertainment company.....I would think that's just fine with him.

The Rock shouldn't have any opinion on whether Reigns loses. If he does have a sour attitude, he need to go back and remember he was forced down our throats and hated immensely by the fans and ended up being nothing until he was placed in the Nation. He can relive these memories for only 9.99

The Rock is a professional and he understands the business very well. At one stage he was boo'd like hell when he was the bland "Rocky Miavia" - he realised that he had to change tact and would understand if WWE changed plans for Reigns WM win.

I would like to see Reigns turn heel first - and it was a mistake to put him in the WM Main Event when he was out for a long time last year and is still getting himself established.

This is the least anticipated WM I can ever recall.

Winning the Royal Rumble guarantees you a shot in the main event of WrestleMania, it doesn't guarantee you winning the title though. (The Rock should know). Either way it's gonna be interesting to see which way the match ends

Why would the Rock care? I mean, sure they're family (2nd cousins or whatnot) but Rocky's about 15 years older, and their relationship probably consisted of seeing each other once a year... I have no insight on the relationship between Rock and Roman, but it doesn't seem like they're "best buds" or anything.

I think ultimately Rock wants to see his cousin succeed like anybody would want to see their family succeed, but I doubt he has a real vested interest in it... I really don't think Rock would walk away based on Roman Reigns.

No, WWE is something he does for fun really. He said in a post show interview after the RR "Damn they booed they hell out of my boy out there but it was fun". The Rock is also self made in terms of his gimmick, everything. He himself was not ready to be shot to the title in 2 years of being in the company. He understands the business. I don't think it would bother him at all, and I don't see Brock Lesnar retaining. He's approaching 40 and almost out of years to compete on a high level in UFC and has unfinished business/doesn't even care for the wrestling business.
