RIP Mad Dog Vachon

The Brain

King Of The Ring
I'm a little surprised no one made this thread yet. I guess it's probably because not many of us know a whole lot about him. Still I thought he deserved some acknowledgement from this forum.

RIP Mad Dog

I've seen him in the AWA DVD, apparently he was a big heel in that territory. I still remember the time Jerry Lawler took his leg and beat him up with it in 1998 - over the edge Lawler stuff, but somehow funny. RIP Mad Dog.

This really isn't the board to get acknowledgement on a guy like Vachon, since his time was so far before pretty much everyone that posts here.

I never got to see him anywhere but the very tail end of his career, but know enough of his history to know that he was one of the best of his time. One of the AWA's all time greats.

RIP Mad Dog

I remember his leg being used during the Diesel vs HBK match after WM12.

That's all I've got.

RIP.

Just got back in the country and heard nothing about this until now. Watching a lot of classic AWA I've seen quite a bit of Mad Dog. My personal favorite was his promo on Jerry Blackwell while building him a pine box. A classic gimmick and even being such a short guy came off as a believable monster not to mention an absolute lunatic. As my sig suggests I'm a big fan wh of his and its a shame to lose such a legend, its just too bad so many have seen so little of him for obvious reasons of us being too young but he really was great.

RIP Mad Dog. There will never be a psycho like you again in the ring.

If you haven't seen it before, the documentary "Wrestling Queen" is a real treat for wrestling fans and has some GREAT Vachon family footage. Along with the anonymous Southern wrestling fans, Mad Dog steals the show with some amazing lines about being tougher than everyone else more or less (e.g. "That day I was happy to have one more quart of blood than the average human being"). You should spend 70 minutes soon and watch this. Crazy up-close footage of Andre before he was called Andre, too.
