Ricky Ortiz looks Awesome

Pre-Show Stalwart
Really what is this man's use on Smackdown? On this weeks Smackdown he seems to be featured quite heavily.
It seems clear to me that he hasn't got over as a face, will he do better heel?
What do you think WWE's plans are for him? Can he get over?

Simply put;

We wish Ricky Ortiz all the best in his future endeavors..

I was actually quite surprised when Ricky started actually appearing on Smackdown. I thought for sure he would've gotten future endeavoured.

I haven't watched enough of the show recently to saw anything about his heel character, but I did see him a few times on the Dub, and I wasn't very impressed. To me, his character is/was like Carlito when he first made his debut. His character is very bland and boring. And the "rally towel"??? It looks like a friggin' dish cloth!

If only they had kept Colt Cabana around, maybe these two could've been comedy jobbers.

His chararacter reminds me of another old classic, Rocky Maivia. Not the Rock, but Rocky Maivia. Everyone hated Rocky, and I remember being online talking about just like I am saying this about Ortiz. Give this man some time people. This is all creative's fault, and Ortiz is just going with the flow.

I'm not implying that we have the next Rock on our hands, but no one thought Rocky Maivia was going to be a star. Not a single person online back then was heard saying the following " I think he has potential". Then all of a sudden the man opens his mouth, and changes the course of wrestling history.

I have noticed this about Ortiz is his camera presence, mic comfort, and overall look. He has the size, athleticism, and classic looks. He needs re-worked a bit. A possible heel turn would be great, and lets not forget about a decent new moveset. For a man his size he has absolutely no ring presence.

I can't say I won't ever grow to like Ricky Ortiz, but I can say it doesn't seem like it's something I plan on doing in the near future. I say "I can't say ever" because I disliked Santino when he debuted as a face and won the Intercontinental title - he was awful as a face and only began getting decent reviews and credit once they turned him heel and let him talk on the mic.

Ortiz's look annoys me greatly. The Rally Towel is just plain stupid. Even as a heel, he needs to just drop that entire situation.

I think in general, Ortiz needs a brand new look. New tights, ditch the towel, and change his entire attitude to someone who just doesn't give a shit. It's bound to work better than a fan favorite who gets more mixed reactions and boos than he does cheers. Regardless though, at this point I wouldn't be saddened or shocked if Ricky was unemployed in the coming weeks/month.

Ortiz needs a complete overhaul. He needs new gear. And who uses the splash as a finishing move nowadays. If superheavyweights don't use it , why would he? he will end up getting lost on smackdown. Kenny Dykstra anyone?

In OVW, he was called Atlas DaBone. He should have stuck with that, he was very interesting. then again i also remember Scotty Goldmen Being Colt Cabana In OVW who was also entertaining, Im starting to see a patteren here.

What does he do on SmackDown? He's a jobber. Enhancement talent. I would have thought that was obvious. Sorry if he doesn't have the killer gimmick of the century. Am I the only one that doesn't find it surprising that creative aren't focusing all their efforts on him?

I think Ricky Ortiz needs some more time in the gym, let alone in the ring. This guy is in horrible shape, not to mention his hair looks like Carlito's, minus a shower for the past week.

Why does everyone seem to think if Scotty Goldman was "Colt Cabana" he'd have been amazing? If supposedly Cabana is so great (never watched him), then the reason Goldman didn't get over is because he didn't have the time to, as he only had like 3 matches and no promo time. Its not that he was called Scotty Goldman. Sure, the name has something to do with the push, but its not make or break most of the time unless you look at extremes.

So same for Atlas DaBone/Ricky Ortiz. The only difference is the name. Still has the same shitty level of skill, same void of charisma, etc. Ricky Ortiz is a guy that shouldn't have made it past OVW in the first place, let alone someone that should've been pushed with the announcers saying he had an undefeated streak for a while lol. Frankly, Ortiz is one of the top 4 names I'd say should go if they're looking to release people - the other two being Tony Atlas, Sim Snuka, and Hacksaw Jim Duggan. He's a jobber and that's all he should be, until he's fired.

Awesome, strong word that. Good, Ricky Ortiz looks good.

I don't watch ECW so it's only the past two weeks that I've really seen him. He looks like a clean/cooler Colon. His attire & hair is the same as Carlito's, but it looks like he might have paid somebody other than his mother to make his trousers.

Good mannerisms and he was more over than Shelton Benjamin & John Morrison in the 6-Man tag match. Not Cryme Tyme though. How over are those guys!
