Wait wait I got it, Mexican prostitutes.

I hear they keep you up all night with their whining 'Wheeres ma moneeey heffe?"

Care to explain why you have undertaken such a burden. Is their a new reality show to crown the next pope? And this is part of the application?

Because I am in a New Testament course, bro. Hence...the midterm. I have undertaken the task because I want to excel in said course. Ergo, I am staying up in the wee hours writing about how people in antiquity though that the Realm of God was impending and that the evil Roman Empire/Satan would be squelched by the Returning Christ...champion for our suffering.

The Roman Empire was decidedly Christian by the 3rd century though...

The Roman Empire was decidedly Christian by the 3rd century though...

Even when Constantine accepted some form of Christianity and then defeated Maxentius in 312, Christians were still very much a minority.

As for the apocalytic view of antique Christians, it really depends on who and when you read. As you are focusing on the New Testament, it will only provide ideas from the late first/early second century, some of which will be influenced by the persecution of Nero, the paranoia of Domitian and the general idea that Christians were breaking the law by practicing, even if the administration did not fight too hard to apply such regulation - probably best seen with the exchange of letters between Trajan and Pliny.

Plenty of Christians had no problem working within the Roman Empire and did not necessarily view it as any great Satan - indeed, many saw the success, power and authority of the Roman Empire as a sign of God's favour.
