Rick Reilly is continuing to make sense

Or they were trying to run the ball after they figured out their quarterback was having trouble throwing against a good defense? You call it unimaginative, and yeah, maybe it is. But the facts are because Bama's defense was so good, LSU couldn't pass and had to resort to running to try and win. Which goes back to my original point. I understand where your guy's viewpoints are coming from, but if you look at it all from a logical football point, there is no arguing my point.

Thank you.

and the offense was far from incompetent.
.....

What? 9-6. The score was 9-6. There were no TDs. Alabama missed 4 FGs, all of them greater than 40 yards, and two of them greater than 50. Both teams had two turnovers. There were only 6 drives in the entire game (both teams combined) which went longer than 6 plays. All but 5 drives were under 4 minutes, which may not be a big deal to a team like OK St., but when there are 72 rushes in the game, compared to only 46 passes, it's quite telling when you don't have drives longer than 4 minutes. Neither team broke 300 yards for the game. LSU was 3-11 on third down and Alabama was 5-13.

On what level can you possibly say the offenses weren't incompetent? Did you even watch the game?

There was only one thing bad in the game
The entire game itself.

the kicking from one team
And no ability to drive the football, turnovers, poor third down conversions, etc.

Right?

and that doesn't effect the offense in anyway.
It's an effect of poor offense. Have you ever thought if Alabama could have scored a touchdown, then they wouldn't have had to kick 50 yard field goals?

You're making one poor aspect of one team's game out to be poor play by both teams in every aspect and a poor game as a whole, which is just a lie.
And you obviously didn't watch the game, or know nothing about football. The fact you're even arguing about the position "missed FGs don't mean offenses are incompetent" shows you're completely missing the fact the offenses couldn't score, or even move the football into decent range for the kicking team! That alone shows an incompetency.

The fact is the game was terrible. Quit arguing this, you're losing badly.

The game was a complete stinker. It was billed as the Game of the Century (yet, oddly, the 2006 UM/OSU game was also billed as that, strange...) and was boring as fuck. It wasn't a defensive masterpiece, it was offensive ineptitude.

However, I would encourage lil Jimmy to keep giving Sly chances, it's entertaining. It's futile, but entertaining.
