Review a reformed band.

Over the past couple of years we’ve seen many bands reforming and either launching new singles and albums, or living off of the success of the past and touring.

Spice Girls are a good example of a band who lived completely off of their old success, and I don’t think really have a place in today’s music industry. Yet their tours sold out within minutes, and they added several extra dates to try and cope with the demand. Tickets were selling for hundreds more than their original prices as the dates drew nearer, and everyone seemed excited by this.

Going back to my above comment, I really don’t think they have a place in today’s industry. I will admit, I loved Spice Girls when I was younger, every girl I know did. But they’re awful, and the only people who did like them are the pre-teen girls. And I don’t think they appeal to the younger girls now. They’re all into High School Musical, and Disney. The time and place for Spice girls has passed.

Backstreet boys. Before they split up they was Epic. everybody loved them and they was always played on the radio. but when they reformed a few years ago they released what? one album? and with just one good song on it it flopped. No young person know's who the hell they are but go back ten years ago and everybody did. They was huge for what a couple of months until the Concerts finished. I havent heard anything about them since. They are like the male versions of the spice girls.

Does it have to be a band with all of its original member? Well, I will give you one who has managed to reform with its original cast and recaptured the magic, and one that hasn't quite made it yet.

First of all, you have to hand it to Motley Crue. These guys were among 5 or 6 bands that OWNED the trashy 80's metal scene, and are largely credited with creating the first Power Ballad Video with "Home Sweet Home." But the other issue were the egos of Tommy Lee and Vince Neil - two of the most arrogant men in music history - coupled with the drug problems of Nikki Sixx and the deteriorating health of Mick Mars.

After a VERY heated breakup, Crue made a triumphant return about 4 years ago. They've sold out world tours. They've pumped out two new albums. Mick Mars, on his death bed before the touring (many felt the band reformed just to give Mick one last hurrah before he died), is still playing guitar on stage and making it through months at a time on the road. Adrenaline is a wonderful thing.

On the flip side, we have the winners of the first ever WrestleZone Rock Tournament, Queen. When Freddie Mercury died in the early 90's, fact is, the soul of the band went with him. Adding Paul Rodgers (from Bad Company) was a neat move by Brian May to get things jump started again, and the tour they put on was admirable (I saw them on Long Island) but obviously leaves you saying "well, it's not the same." Their new album came out to very little fan fare. One single - it's ok - and that's basically the end of the line. Queen with Paul Rodgers is like Van Halen with Gary Cerrone.

But I still love both bands, because I am a dirty little 80's rock ****e.
