Just read your review. This was the one and only WWE event I've ever been at, so I was interested to hear someone else's thoughts on it. Here's a few things I remember about it being there live:
-They hyped the Undertaker return ALLLLL night between every commercial for the live crowd. Sure, it was exciting and his promo was probably the most memorable thing of the night, but he makes those "return promos" every couple of months. It's like having great sex with a girl, but you know that girl is a huge **** and is banging a bunch of other guys too. Makes it less special, but fun nonetheless.
-Vince McMahon's surprise appearance got a HUGE pop, maybe the biggest one, and that part was the most entertaining for me. I was shocked to see him come out, a really good surprise to see. Probably my favorite moment of the night.
-Jericho/Mysterio was probably the best match of the night live to watch, just because it was pretty flashly to see in person. The main event of Batista/Punk, while looking good on paper, is not very memorable at all. Decent at best, nothing special.
-I remember the dark match afterward featured Undertaker pretty much squashing someone. I forget who, but it was someone fairly important. Pretty much just a Tombstone victory, couldn't have been more than 30 seconds, just to send the crowd home happy I guess. I remember half the crowd was out of their seats heading toward the concourse when the match started abruptly, and some had to come back/were standing in the aisles to see the quick final match. Now that I think about it, it could have been Punk, but I'm not sure.
-I went with my brother and cousins, and my older cousin doesn't really watch WWE anymore, but he used to be a fan during the Attitude Era, so this was a pretty fitting show to happen to go to for him, since it happened to feature a few A.E. stars (Undertaker, Kane, Jericho, Vince McMahon, Matt Hardy, JR on commentary), so that brought back some memories.
Decent show overall by my recollection of it, and I'm pretty sure ECW was filmed beforehand. I'm sure it sucked, but hey, it was an extra hour of live wrestling, so I'm not exactly complaining about it. Good review, too.
