Report: TNA "On The Verge" of Signing The American Wolves?

It's Damn Real!

This from PWInsider via TNAInsider:

PWInsider is reporting that WWE officials liked what they saw from now former ROH stars Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards at their most recent tryout match in NXT. WWE officials are expected to bring in the duo for more dates and possibly a developmental contract. The report goes on to state that TNA could be on the verge or may have already made a play to bring in Richards and Edwards to sign with them instead.

We already reported back in July 2013 that the team had been in talks with both TNA and the WWE.

I believe the last time this sort of thing happened was with Nigel McGuinness/Desmond Wolfe, though I think WWE turned him down due to injury concerns.

We briefly discussed this a while back before the Wolves were brought into NXT, but I guess this rumor just doesn't want to die until it's dead.

Thoughts?

I don't think it's going to happen. The rumours have been floating around for months and nothing has taken place. Besides, one of them had something negative to say about the company:

“Who’s even in TNA? No idea. Apart from Aries, Joe; guys like that. Oh, and TJ, but they’ve got him wrestling as some stupid skeleton man."

If one goes to the WWE, I'm guessing the other will stick with him. They're in the WWE's developmental system together and if all ends well, they'll most likely go into the main roster. If they wanted to go to TNA I'm sure they would have signed with them.

It would be good to see them in TNA though. Matches with the earlier ROH stars would be pretty exiting, similar to the matches they had with each other.

Well if WWE choose not to offer them a full time contract, Then I can see them wanting to sign with TNA, Both men will get far more exposure in TNA and with Davey burning lot of bridges in ROH over the last couple of months, TNA seem like the only option left for the Wolves if they choose to stay together, Also with the state of the TNA tag division, it would not be long before management put the straps on them and a feud with Bad Influance would be fun to see.

Once again this is another story that I'm taking with a grain of salt. This the second or third time there has been talks of the Wolves coming to TNA. While I'd welcome them to the tag team ranks easily, it seems that we've been getting vague hints as to where the Wolves would end up, particularly from Davey Richards. Things could be up and down for them in NXT, I won't pretend if I know that or not. But they also should've (at least in Davey's case) left the door open to come back to ROH in the future. I'll believe that TNA wants them once I see them on Impact.

they both signed with NXT over a month ago

No they didn't. Their on a trial with WWE, no contracts, they were asked to leave ROH because it has a television show which while not as accessible as WWE's is still accessible to those of us with two brain cells and access to decent Internet. WWE didn't want them appearing on another promotions show while working for them to gain a contract.

And I produce one quote in the context of this story:

Davey Richards: "Whose even in TNA?"

i think they should fo to WWE, much more exposure, more money would take them there for sure imo.

TNA's roster is swiss cheese right now. Each of their divisions has 2-4 people/teams in it. How about using some of that Bischoff/Jarrett/Hogan/Styles money to bring in new talents like Davey and Eddie? If TNA can use the Young Bucks they can use the American Wolves. Plus, they have an audience of smarks who will know who these guys are; at least more than the average WWE fan. I'm not affixed to either guy's nuts or anything, but I also wouldn't mind seeing them make a go of it on Impact. That company needs something...anything...to give it a face lift right now.

I know it's just an internet rumor so it has a chance of being wrong but according to the rumor WWE is passing on them. However given the reasoning that Triple H thinks they're too small and there are already enough small guys on the NXT roster who knows? It's not like Hunter didn't know how small they were when he gave them a tryout.

Anyway if they went to TNA that would be fine. Indie fans seem to be high on them. I know very little about them but it couldn't hurt TNA to add another tag team especially with Chavo leaving. That takes away a team from an already small division. They need to make up for that somehow.
