Report: Another Former ROH & TNA Star *POSSIBLY* WWE Bound?

According to a report at PWInsider.com, there's a lot of speculation that Austin Aries might be on his way to WWE. Late last year, he was backstage at the last batch of NXT tapings for 2015. The speculation has been fueled all the more since Aries didn't work the last set of TNA TV tapings and Aries was in Pittsburgh, PA earlier this week, which is where WWE's medical chief Dr. Joseph Maroon is based; it's speculated that Aries was there undergoing the various screenings and exams required for all signing stars.

If Aries does sign with WWE, he'll probably head through NXT for a bit first. From what I understand, Aries has pretty much been spinning his wheels in TNA for about a year. The 2nd through 6th runs of Aries as X Division Champion have lasted a total of 76 days, a far cry from the glorious 301 day run that began back on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I haven't watched TNA for about 2.5 years now, though I do keep up with some of what's going on and based on what I've read, Aries is no longer a priority for TNA so, at the very least, NXT would be a breath of fresh air.

I wonder if with all these former TNA/ROH signings WWE is actually going to become watchable. They sure like leaving things late and picking up guys at the back end of their career, I would of thought if they were going to pay decent dollars for these guys (Aries was on 350 000 with TNA) they would have done it whilst they were in their prime. The guys down at NXT must be feeling like they are never going to get a main roster push.

I'm starting to wonder if WWE is targeting ROH, TNA etc. by signing all these guys.

Aries has been going nowhere for a while now, if he goes to NXT then fair dues, but NXT is looking like a veteran's home/last stand.

He deserves to be on the main roster, for me he'd be top 5 in the company if given the opportunity. I'm an Aries mark so I'm biased. Really hope he does go to the main roster if he signs though.

Curious if signing Aries is to correspond with the (rumored) pending release of Daniel Bryan. Both have similar styles, the fans love them, similar size, vegan (I know this has nothing to do with it). Maybe Vince and co. feel that replacing D Bry with a similar wrestler will make fans forget the loss of a major fan favourite

I'm not sure if replacing Bryan with someone significantly older than him would be a good idea, also starting to agree with TDFG that NXT ironically is becoming a veteran's home.

Exactly This.

As i have said before and i am gonna say it again that for me, AJ Styles and Austin Aries are the best non-WWE TNA stars whom i would like to be in WWE. Be it NxT or Main Roster, I just want them here. :p

Aries is an awesome talent and can surely be the top babyface or heel of WWE. He is good shape and has great looks. He is a whole package!

So Yes! I am really excited for him to join WWE!

If anything...

I hope they bridge the gap between NXT and Smackdown and start utilizing it as the show to test, develop and strengthen new talent.

Would be a shame if all these guys that we are already familiar with are stuck in NXT for years and an opportunity is missed to firmly set Smackdown apart from just being a diet RAW, post brand split.

Oh yes, I love it! Great news for NXT fans, and other than maybe Bobby Roode, there is no big name left to get. It will be a treat watching the greatest man that ever lived in action against other legends from NJPW, ROH and TNA. I just hope Daniel Bryan gets cleared soon enough; the number of dream matches doubles with him out there. As for the wage, the James Storm case leads me to believe that he will have to settle for a lesser amount than what he made elsewhere. But that's something you might afford to lose, in exchange for more fame, more exposure, safer environment, higher professionalism, and things like that. I hope the rumour is true.

Sure, they are. On this forum, there's been plenty of criticism of the company lacking star power and not doing anything about it. So, here we are.

It's not as if they're 'youthing up' the roster by signing Aries. He's 37, an accomplished performer and a genuine attraction.....and if WWE is ever going to sign him, there's not much time to lose.

The people WWE have been going after are all excellent performers and should give the company exactly what they're looking for.....and, exactly what we fans have been looking for.

I think that remains to be seen, AA could easily be in NXT for the foreseeable with a trainers job in the long run.

There's comes a time when there is using talent and stockpiling talent.

Is he though? For NXT I think he is but stick him on Raw and you'll find a lot of the casual fans just have no clue who he is or dont care that he's an accomplished performer because to them the only product is the WWE or the only product where accomplishments count for something is the WWE

Aries could win them over easy, he has it all ( except size for the guys with a big man fetish ). He is similar to CM Punk in the way he cuts promos and he could maybe fill that void for many who are still clamouring for him

Austin Aries is a BIG get for WWE. Even if he works strictly out of NXT. Aries and Balor could have a nice feud building to nXt Dallas where Aries captures the NXT title. This will allow Balor to jump to RAW/Smackdown.

wwe will bury them once they sign them wwe is repeatedly trying again to steal talent from ROH TNA NJPW etc and probably cripple them financially and buy them off once they have less viewership I mean this is what they did with ECW and WCW and USWA and Smokey Mountain Wrestling etc
Don t let history repeat again cause wwe alone will suck for many wrestling fans
