According to a report at PWInsider.com, there's a lot of speculation that Austin Aries might be on his way to WWE. Late last year, he was backstage at the last batch of NXT tapings for 2015. The speculation has been fueled all the more since Aries didn't work the last set of TNA TV tapings and Aries was in Pittsburgh, PA earlier this week, which is where WWE's medical chief Dr. Joseph Maroon is based; it's speculated that Aries was there undergoing the various screenings and exams required for all signing stars.
If Aries does sign with WWE, he'll probably head through NXT for a bit first. From what I understand, Aries has pretty much been spinning his wheels in TNA for about a year. The 2nd through 6th runs of Aries as X Division Champion have lasted a total of 76 days, a far cry from the glorious 301 day run that began back on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I haven't watched TNA for about 2.5 years now, though I do keep up with some of what's going on and based on what I've read, Aries is no longer a priority for TNA so, at the very least, NXT would be a breath of fresh air.
