What are your religious views? Or do you not have any?

I believe in love for all. Also, Jesus and God are pretty cool guys. If you had to label me, I'd be a Lutheran Protestant.

Let's not make this a bashing topic. It's a serious one. Let's just use the Cage for a little more freedom of expression. Lariat did this with a thread on homosexuality near the inception of The Cage and it worked well.

I understand some people's need/desire to belong to a religion. I myself am not one of them. I gave the Christianity thing a try when I was younger, and the inconsistencies just drove me away. Now I just find a lot of them too pushy, which makes me resent it even more. I see how it can help some people, and give them hope. That's awesome too! I'm happy those people have that, but it is not for me. I'm not a fan of people falling back on it as an excuse for things when they run out of reasons.. That's not meant to bash, I just think it's a abuse of it. Overall, I think if you follow a religion? Great! that's awesome. But people that think their religion is better then someone elses religion.. Well, those people are moron's. There are a lot of great religious people out there though. Like Doc :)

I'm an agnostic atheist who believes peoples' usage of religion is simply a rationalization of their fear of the unknown (meaning of life, death, what happens after death, etc.) as well as a little bit of indoctrination.

I don't hold it against people, however. This can be healthy until it turns into negativity.

Hey it's got it's own church, and followers. Those people believe in the Force, just as much as Christians do in God. Good for them too.

Except this is one of those religions you can say are objectively wrong (or, if you want to go philosophically deeper than that, fundamentally wrong) simply because there is one person who created "Jedis" and the "Force" and it was purely fictional. That religion's leaders have nothing to do with the creation of these terms, so I kind of find it hard to believe that there are people in the world, with a relatively typical IQ, who actually believe in the Force and think they're Jedis.

I think the people who associate themselves with the Jedi religion are doing it facetiously.

Well Mozz, there are people who actually believe that they're reincarnations of the blue aliens from Avatar and others who got depressed after seeing it and killedc themselves because it was all bright and colorful and the real world isn't, so I wouldn't put it past some people to ACTUALLY believe in Jediism.

Well, I don't know.. Star Wars comes from a script, written by a few people. Essentially it is a book. The Bible, and Qur'an, also books. Written by people. Each of these have been made into movies. Lucas could come out and say he based it off something he believed in. Anyone can call any religion fictional, and many have. I'd rather stand by and let each religion follow their faith. There are people who have a religion based off of weed. How are they wrong compared to Jew's or Christians? Thousands of years from now, people may not know anything about Star Wars, yet Jediism may be around, and no one knows where it came from. Who knows really.

Those people are absolute lunatics, and totally don't apply to my statement. When you have the person who created the terms you're applying to your religion telling you that it's 100% fictional, and you are just like, "WHY ARE YOU SHOVING YOUR WORLD VIEWS DOWN MY THROAT?!" then you aren't fit to be released into society.

The problem with that is that the people who wrote the Bible, and the guy that wrote the Qur'an... they told everyone that their books are truth. They were written during a time when the things written in those books were considered plausible.

George Lucas never came out and said that his books and movies are based on true events, or based on true science, and nothing written in ANY medium contributing to the Star Wars universe would come close to being considered plausible.

I grew up Jewish. I still have those values in me but lately I've grown tired of organized religion. You can call me a Deist. To me God isn't about revenge. Belief in God means you believe in understanding and the belief in the Golden Rule which is treat others the way you'd like to be treated.

Nicely put. That's me.

Not sure what you'd call me, though the term I use is Universalist or Universalism. Essentially I follow multiple philosophies and spirituality of different religions that I melded into my own personal universal belief. The main religions I have studied and have incorporated are Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Taoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Paganism.

To quote a Sikhism belief, every religion is a river that flows into one ocean. They take different paths but end up at the same goal.

I was baptized a Catholic, but I haven't been to church in 12 years (except for funerals and weddings). I'm pretty sure I'll find my religion once again when I'm close to death.

Never bothered with it. I really don't care if there is a god or not, I'm not going to waste time worshipping him regardless. I don't have time for that.
