Rebooking Survivor Series 1995

I’m assuming since the Survivor Series is over and we’re headed to the TLC, that MMK isn’t going to continue this series. Since I’ve typed up “Rebooking Survivor Series” up to 2001, I thought I’d continue it. Here goes my version of Survivor Series 1995.

Alundra Blayze, Kyoko Inoue, Sakie Hasegawa and Chaparita Asari
vs.
Bertha Faye, Aja Kong, Tomoko Watanabe, and Lioness Asuka (with Harvey Wippleman)

The Underdogs – Marty Jannetty, Hakushi, Barry Horowitz and Bob Holly
vs.
The BodyDonnas – Skip, Rad Radford, Dr. Tom Prichard and Sycho Sid (with Sunny and Ted DiBiase)

The Darkside – The Undertaker, Savio Vega, Fatu and Henry O. Godwinn (with Paul Bearer)
vs.
The Royals – King Mabel, Jerry Lawler, Isaac Yankem, DDS, and Hunter Hearst Helmsley (with Sir Mo)

Bam Bam Bigelow, Ahmed Johnson, and the Smoking Gunns (Billy Gunn and Bart Gunn)
vs.
Goldust, Dean Douglas, The Public Enemy (Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge)

The Kliq – Diesel, Razor Ramon, Shawn Michaels, and 1-2-3 Kid (with Ted DiBiase and Jim Cornette)
vs.
Camp Cornette – Bret the Hitman Hart, Yokozuna, the British Bulldog, and Owen Hart (with Mr. Fuji and Jim Cornette)

I tried to keep everyone that was on the original card on my version. Instead of two 5-on-5 traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team match, a 4-on-4 traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team match, the Casket match and the WWE Championship Throw In The Towel Submission match, I made it four 5-on-5 matches.

Y'know, this is one of the few cards that I genuinely wouldn't touch. One of my favourite WWE ppvs of all time - in part due to low expectations, to be honest. The general con census is that 1995 represented a creative nadir (in my opinion not just WWE but WCW as well), and I've said on previous threads about the Attitude Era that this was one of the first 'experimental' cards for WWE, in that they let the gloves off the talent, the main gimmicky wrestlers were all in one match (the Royals vs the Dark Side) and certain wrestlers performed things we wouldn't expect of them in mid-90s WWE (the underdogs match was awesome and the title match is widely regarded as one of the first televised table spots in the company)

The ONLY let down on the card was the boring Goldust v Bigelow match, where Bam Bam phoned it in on one of his last nights with the company (Goldust won with a running bulldog, WTF?) but the rest of the card was so entertaining and a breath of fresh air.

I must have copied the last part from the Survivor Series 1994 post and forgot to edit it. What I meant to say was:

I tried to keep everyone that was on the original card on my version. Instead of four 4-on-4 traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team match, a Tag Team match, and two singles matches, I made it five 4-on-4 matches.

I agree that the card turned out to be good, even though most had low expectations, but in keeping up with tradition, I want to make all of the Survivor Series cards full of traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team matches. All those other types of matches could have been saved for the next Pay Per View.
