Real Action

Almost everyone know that pro wrestling business including companies like WWE, TNA, ROH and so on is based on creating fake matches and in some companies like WWE most of the time we hear that not only the result but the whole match itself was fake and the ring action was determined before the match so here are my questions
1. why shouldn't we see a real match and what's the problem with that?
2. what makes me (someone with almost no in ring skill) so different from a top wrestler like WWE current champion CM punk?
3. is there anyone who want to see some REAL ACTION instead of fake wrestling? i think no one other than wrestlers themselves can entertain people better i mean they are athletes not a bunch of clowns to obey everything bookers tell them to do.
so what are your thoughts on this topic?

Ohhh boy...

1. Planning beforehand gives them time to think of cool spots in some cases, and it allows them to think of how to pace the match beforehand. Also, the referee isn't left in the dark, so he knows when to count to three. There are matches that are called on the fly, where only the result and the ending are planned out. If you have two experienced workers who know what they're doing, that's great, but not if it's a pair of incredibly inexperienced guys in there.

2. For one, he's probably in much better shape than you; he may not look it, but he controls his diet and has a specific routine he follows to keep himself in good ring condition.

And for another, you said it; in-ring skill. Punk has been trained, you haven't. Punk has been wrestling for a long time, you haven't. You might be able to copy stuff you see, but he can do it SAFELY. If you got in a ring, you'd be a danger to yourself and anyone else in there, and someone would get seriously hurt. Plus, wrestlers communicate with each other to make a match as good as it can be, and as SAFE as it can be; if it's a real fight, they aren't going to do that. Most wrestling movers require co-operation from both sides to perform them. So they wouldn't work for the most part in a 'real' environment.

3. If you wanna see real action, watch MMA. They grapple, they punch, they kick, and it's all real, with nothing predetermined. Pro-wrestling is what it is; entertainment with an athletic edge. Actors don't go onto a stage, or onto television with nothing prepared (unless its stated that it's improv). If you consider it fake and are in some way put off by that, then you're missing the point of it; which is to make it look real whilst being entertaining to an audience, and most importantly SAFE.

Results are predetermined to advance stories and characters, and helps the wrestlers to have an idea of what they're going to do to try and entertain the fans. Going in with no spots prepared is one thing, but calling the results on the fly? You may get rare occasions where a result is changed last minute, but not during a match usually.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is, terrible idea.

For many years, people have enjoyed the concept of watching seemingly uncontrolled mayhem in which the performers don't intentionally hurt one another, yet appear to. Of course, we know that people legitimately do get injured in pro wrestling, yet we're willing to suspend disbelief to watch the spectacle going on before us, predicated on making us think they're really devastating each other with high-impact maneuvers intended to completely incapacitate one's opponent; that is, until 30 seconds later when he's totally recovered and back in the action.

If we saw "real" fights, there would be a lot more people on the injured list, that's for damn sure. The stuff we love to watch would cripple people in real life.....and that wouldn't do, would it?

Additionally, we wouldn't be able to see the variety of moves pro wrestling has become famous for because they'd never work in a "real" match. When Sin Cara goes up for one of his telegraphed flying maneuvers, can you imagine his opponent moving to the appropriate spot in the ring to receive it? Can you imagine the opponent standing in one place, waiting for the impact of the move in case Sin Cara is a second late?

How about maneuvers like the Tombstone? Do you want them to be delivered for real, with a victim smashed head-first into the canvas? Ask Steve Austin what he thinks about that.

If they ever made pro wrestling "real" it wouldn't be pro wrestling anymore; it would be more like college wrestling.....or like pro wrestling in the early 1900's, in which two guys would plod ponderously on the mat, straining against each other and often not moving for 20 minutes at a time. Think that would bring in the crowds? (Can you imagine someone trying to launch a dropkick against Strangler Lewis? He'd step to the side and watch the fool crash to the canvas, where Lewis would pin his ass).

No, pro wrestling is already what it must be. It's no different than all other scripted shows on TV, except that there are no "takes" and no director to yell "cut!" when things go awry. I wouldn't have it any other way.

This is something that I have to dispute. Insiders rarely talk about the details but it seems to me that few if any bookers get involved in the wrestling matches other than the finish. Vince Russo says he doesn't even get involved in the finish, only the results.

A lot of it is for the same reasons WWE will never do the Brawl For It All tournament again. Too many of the guys were getting legit injured and the matches weren't playing out the way Vince hoped for. It was supposed to be a way to push Dr. Death. Unfortunately Dr. Death fell into both categories. He got legit injured and what's more he lost. That's what would happen in a lot of feds if pro wrestling went back to being shoot just like it was in the early 1900s. You'd have wrestlers you're trying to build up as rootin' tootin' badasses just to have them get waxed in their first outting and you'd have even more people getting legitimately injured.

Quite a few feds actually have tried to do shoot wrestling over the years, the most recent being Real Pro Wrestling. The problem is they couldn't get enough of an audience so they folded after 2 seasons. Don't hold your breath waiting for another company to try it again anytime soon.

Because, first and foremost, it would be really, REALLY dull. Take a look at a standard match. Even something as simple as a clothesline has to be 'taken' the right way. 90% of the moves in a normal match simply don't work in a real fight. Back wheen all wrestling used to be real, matches lasting hours were not uncommon. Can you see todays fans watching an hour of hold-counterhold without so much as a suplex or dropkick in sight?

2. what makes me (someone with almost no in ring skill) so different from a top wrestler like WWE current champion CM punk?

Essentially In-Ring skill. Wrestlers spend HOURS learning how to fall. HOURS bouncing off ropes to toughen themselves up.

3. is there anyone who want to see some REAL ACTION instead of fake wrestling? i think no one other than wrestlers themselves can entertain people better i mean they are athletes not a bunch of clowns to obey everything bookers tell them to do.

There no doubt are people who want to see 'real action'. They watch MMA, or UFC or some other similar organisation.
