Will WWE or TNA ever have this kind of action.?

Dark Match Jobber
Now some people complain about todays WWE but after watching some old REAL WRESTLING matches I feel like complaining about both the major companies today WWE & TNA.

This is a quick clip from the last match of Eddie Guerrero & Dean Malenko in ECW

My Questions are Will WWE or TNA ever have action like this?

In both Companies which superstars today could put on a match like this?

Better question is "would this get over"?

Daniel Bryan vs William Regal could definately be somewhat like this. Bryan vs Jerich actually was quite a bit like this. It's about style preference, what is over.

TNA tries despirately to be like this all the time.

it probably could, it is just a matter of getting the right two guys together... though no one can sell the action like joey styles did... ugh i just dread the thought of michael cole calling that match "uhh the mexican guy is doing a lot of moves too bad he's not a slammy award winner btw jerry your mom is dead ha ha... why are we watching this white guy he's not the Miz"

I thought of Daniel Bryan, with any other talented, flexible?, athletes in WWE right now.

Sin Cara
Dolph Ziggler
Evan Bourne
CM Punk
Tyson Kidd
Yoshi Tatsu

Hey talking of old school wrestling. the Hogan era alot of the wrestling was a snoozefest really slow, but it was characters that were entertaining, that's the difference.

Today we have few real characters just generic entertainers who don't excel at anything except being phyisicaly fit and throwing around the flashy moves occasionaly.

but to that clip, we certainly could.
TNA has guys that can do it, WWE has guys that can do it. But for whatever reason they chose to stick with the bland stuff for the most part and keep the OMG moments to a minimum.

Choices+the above AJ Styles, Robert Roode, MCMG and to some extent Kurt Angle can all pull off fast past, technical, Lucha Libre style matches

The reason thehy keep these OMG moments to a minimum is because if you have them every week then they are no longer OMG moments. Look at Rey Mysterio, he still pulls out things that are incredible but because we have seen them 100 times before its lost its effect, so when WWE does let these guys who can pull out these matches do it, we will truly go OMG

wasn't disputing that, it's also a safety issue to keep em going for longer without injury.
However TNA obviously don't share that same logic, and do endless high spots and injuries

That's a great point,Cole would absolutely KILL any energy from that type of match,Styles knew how call and sell the action, maybe Matthews could call it IF Cole could keep his mouth shut and that is a big IF!!

That makes sense, and I would add that the technical wrestling the original poster in this thread wants to see is not something that sells with the majority of the audience today. Those folks don't have the patience to sit through an Eddie Guerrero-Dean Malenko match; as soon as a skillful exchange of holds starts to take place, you can see people in the front rows looking away from the ring (not to mention what the people who are further back in the crowd might be doing). I think that most people at wrestling shows aren't wrestling fans; they're just people who want to be doing what everyone else is doing. If they find out that 15,000 people are attending an event, that's enough reason for them to be there.

To keep modern audiences off their cells phone while at a wrestling show, the guys in the ring have to be hitting spots. But you're right; too many OMG moves cheapens the product and negates their effect.

It's tough to know how best to capture the fans' interest. If Vince McMahon has a hard time figuring it out, you can bet that I don't know.

They can have this kind of action, but it's not their style as companies. TNA has the X-Division, they're totally capable of doing this, but it's fairly doubtful they will now that their focusing on different things as a company. WWE emphasizes bigger more muscular guys, not these smaller more technical wrestlers, they've never been about this kind of wrestling and never will. They're style is more "Northern." Back when WCW and WWF were neck in neck, WCW was all about technical wrestling while WWF was more cartoony and de-emphasized that stuff. To this day, WWE de-emphasizes that, they focus more on storylines.

That match you used as an example, a Malenko/Guerrero match in ECW just isn't the norm. They're two spectacular workers, who had great chemistry, and Heyman really let them do their thing. Instead of having a more WWE style build-up, where mic work and other things would be emphasized, he wanted to show their biggest strengths, their in-ring ability.

You will never see that. ECW was one of the greatest companies ever, their in ring abilities displayed were miraculous and unbelievable. I mean, ECW had OMG moments all the time and even though we saw them thousands of times, they were still OMG moments. ECW to me was the true landmark company of literally taking everything to the extreme. It was a hell of a lot more entertaining than WWE back in the day. WWE is too soft, they worry way to much and emphasize on the safety and all that horse shit. Don't forget when WWE put on ECW One Night Stand for two years in a row, they still remain to this day, two of the highest purchased Pay Per Views in their history. People love wrestling with exciting in ring ability, and people love wrestling with violence and no stops on censorship really. Everything that ECW had thrives among wrestling fans. I mean my God, the ECW crowds were always the best. If ECW would have had a little more time and a little more money, you would still be watching it today. GOD I MISS ECW.

Now this is my kind of wrestling! I think if you were to get a Jericho/Christian feud going we'd all be able to see this beautiful technical wrestling. Two guys who are great on the mic (which would give it the go ahead) and two of the best in ring workers of all time, ticks all the boxes

Although the current WWE/TNA wrestlers would not get the freedom those guys got in ECW and to a certain extent WCW, there's still a hell of a lot of guys out there than can perform like this.
