I excluded these 3: the Benoit murders, Hogan's sons car crash and Eddie's death.

This is crazy brother. Most of these didn't even make a dent in the media. The Rock returning was probably the biggest of all of them, probbaly followed by Lesner in 2012. The rest of the guys (except Hogan) aren't stars and don't garnish much media attention.

I havnt seen any mainstream media coverage on Lesnar returning to wrestling. None of regular magazines like People, SI, Entertainment Weekly, etc have mentioned it, it wasnt covered much in TMZ or ESPN either.

Hogan's return to WWE In 2002 did get some mention via an interview on ESPN (talked about how Flair's return inspired him to come back). Ive never seen any mainstream coverage specifically RE: Hogan at WM18 or him joining TNA. Hogan has made some mainstream TV appearances since joining TNA, specifically to promote events such as his PPV match vs Sting.

Mickey Rourke did get coverage for his WM 25 appearance, I saw mentions in multiple entertainment magazines like Entertainment Weekly, shows like Entertainment Tonight, and the USA Today newspaper. Of the specific events listed in this post that is the one that generated the most mainstream non wrestling related media.

I can honestly say I never saw one mention of Hardy drug issues or Triple H having a kid in the mainstream media. I have seen some coverage via TMZ of Cena's divorce and Flair's brushes with the law. Flair's involvement in politics generated significant coverage during the 08 Presidential Campaign, that one I even saw on the local news in Pgh.

The Rock returning to WM also generated some publicity via Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, and TMZ. Honestly though I think Rourke's appearance generated more mainstream coverage.

i see nobody has mentioned 1 of if not the biggest covered media event in Wrestling history....Mike Tyson on RAW!

i remember everyone talking about this as Tyson was fresh out of prison and on the path to getting his career back on track so he was already heavily featured in the media and one of if not the biggest sports name on the planet along with Michael Jordan.
