Randy Orton Signs 10-year deal PLUS major cash last year...is he worth it?

Randy Orton's methodical style is perfect. Perfect. He is slow, and plodding and captivating. He doesn't have to do much to keep you watching, that's called story-telling. He makes every move in a way that is thoughtful and also very true to the character you've come to know. He's a great sell, a legitimate threat, and a damn good in-ring performer.

If his speed bother's you, go watch the X-Division shit out a start to shit of a show. If you want story-telling, wrestling, and a sure-fire star for probably another 15 years, turn on the Randy Orton match. I think he and MVP, are probably the best key players in the WWE right now as far as dedicating money and trust to.

Worth it? No.

I don't like Orton and I haven't liked him since 2007. Back then I was a huge fucking mark for him, he was probably in my top 5 and now he's in my bottom 5. I'm not going to say he's horrible, because he's not. He's reliable... maybe not in the behavior department, and definitely not in the excitement department, but he usually has decent matches (I can't really think of the last match of his that I would call notably crappy)

But worth 10 years? I wouldn't think so. I think Randy Orton can be summed up in one word: replaceable. His fans go on and on about how he plays his current character to perfection. I'm not arguing with that, but I am seriously considering the possibility that there are a number of other guys who could play the same character just as well, and probably get better heat than him (in case you haven't noticed, Orton gets a huge face pop, despite being heel)

I'm not denying that he has a big amount of fans, or that he's over, or that he's a draw. But I don't think he's worth ten years, since I think there are a number of other WWE wrestlers who could become a bigger star than him if they were given the same character as him. I think his charisma is non-existant. In the current state of WWE where you've generally either been maineventing for five years or you're a never-will-go-anywhere midcarder, it's only his familiarity with the crowd that has him over.

Does he deserve it compared to what/who? If you wanted to make a comparison and say, "Does Orton deserve this instead of wrestler X?", then it might be easier to answer.

As for what you are asking, does Randy deserve being paid like top talent, I think the answer is a very simple and enthusiastic, "OHHH HELLLL YEHHHHH!"

The man is a stud without having to even acknowledge the crowd. If they just made him go back to doing his \ _o_ / (the arms raised up and out like in this photo) then I wouldn't have anything to complain about.

By the way, he is slowly picking up fan support even as a heel. Now whether or not he will play the face vs. Ted DiBiase or not, remains to be seen (I originally thought he would be the heel for sure).

One thing you guys need to understand (and a lot of you are forgetting this) is that the WWE, namely Vince, must REALLY be happy with this guy to give him a TEN-year deal. Considering all the immature crap he's pulled off in the last few years, the guy must have shown a lot of change to get this kind of respect.

Another thing is, the guy just gets the job done and keeps people interested in his program. Whether he's feuding with Cena, Kofi, Sheamus, or (soon to be) Legacy, people are INTERESTED. Keeping fans interested in what you do is very hard to do because people are bouncing from feud to feud. How many WWE wrestlers can you name as characters a majority of wrestling fans follow from feud to feud? Cena, HHH, HBK, Orton, Undertaker, Jericho, Edge, Rey Mysterio, and MAYBE Batista. That's 8, maybe 9, wrestlers. The number is even lower in TNA and that's their fault because wrestlers seem to go from one feud to another and yet another in a matter of 3 weeks!

Of course he deserves it. Orton is the one of the best heels in WWE and one of their top guys. He's been putting on great matches and is always a good pick for a world title reign. Raw would just not be the same without him. The main heels would be Big Show, Sheamus, and Miz if Orton wasn't there.... that's two guys who aren't ready to main event (yes, one of them is Sheamus) full time and one who isn't believable as a potential world champion anymore. They need Orton. He deserves it because he has been doing such a great job as a heel and getting fans to hate his character, even going borderline anti-hero at one point last year because of his huge Wrestlemania storyline and growing popularity. In my opinion there would be few names on the roster who would deserve it more than Orton.

Does Orton deserve it? Absolutely, and I'm not sure if you could pay him enough. He's got so many accomplishments at such a young age, and still has the world ahead of him in the next 10 years at least. As earlier posters have also said - EVERY angle he's been in over the last several years has been a success.

The only thing that I worry will stop RKO's career from travelling to the stratosphere is the RKO outside of the ring, but even that looks like it's changing for the better.

I'll explain why Orton deserves the money and all the benefits. The fans aren't paying to see John Cena win, they're paying to see Orton lose. But right now he's at a crossroads. He's so good as a heel he's won over the fans. The thing about him is I don't think he could ever be a face. So as long as they don't turn him in to one, he should be worth every penny he got.
