Raw Star Rushed to the Hospital After Suffering Convulsions
by Nick Paglino
Dec 16, 2010

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE Raw star R-Truth was rushed to the hospital recently after going into convulsions while traveling. The report notes that the doctors told Truth he was lucky to be alive as his brain was not receiving enough oxygen. Furthermore, the doctors credited the wrestlers that brought him to the hospital for potentially saving his life as they made the right choice to bring him in. Truth is expected to be ok, but will likely be kept out of action for several weeks.

first i really hope r truth is alright. heres what i want to say about it. Do you think that the wwe will travel less because of something like this. And it says he was very close to dieing. And the wwe has been very cautious about superstars healths, and deaths. They have banned chair shots to the head, which has proved to have done lots of damage to people like chris benoit and umaga.

and not only for their healths, but the reason why top stars like kurt angle, booker t, and rob van dam, left wwe was because of the traveling, it was too much for them. And im not saying they should do what impact does, stay in 1 area(orlando, florida) but the wwe should really consider decreasing the traveling.

I dont think they will do anything about the traveling, If this happens they will just give them time off.. something i always wondered bout tna is that how are they getting that many fans if there only in orlando... thats some of the reasons WWE has to keep traveling so they get new fans. R-truth was unfourtunetly unlucky this time but i do think wrestlers should get more time off then they should so they dont get what truth had

This is just sad to hear. I really wish R-Truth well. As for decreasing the traveling, I don't see that happening. WWE wants to get close to fans from around the world but at the same time, its taking alot on on WWE Superstrars' bodies. I have mixed feeling about the travel schedule in the WWE.

This is terrible but it comes with the job. Traveling around the world, going to different regions within the span of a month will do it to you. They won't cut down on the traveling, if they do then no time soon cause they have tour dates set for awhile.

What was the reason or reasons he went into convulsions? "While traveling" doesn't mean it was due to it. The report you posted doesn't say if it was exhaustion, meds, booze, party drugs, or a pre-existing condition.
I absolutely wish R-Truth the very best in his health and never like to hear of these things. However you should know the cause of his episode before blaming it on WWE.

First of all, I'm not an R-Truth fan, but I hope he's okay. Second of all, he left WWE, and went to TNA, then CHOSE to come back to WWE. However, one thing about R-Truth, he's already on kind of a limited travel, with his prior arrest convictions, he can't go to Canada. Now with this seizure disorder or whatever, what other restrictions may be placed on him? This is almost similar to the incident where Jeff Hardy/Lance Cade were on that airplane and both were removed for 'disturbing' the peace. Then you fast forward about a few year or so later and Jeff Hardy is gone, and Cade is dead from abuse of drugs, and we all know Jeff's outcome too. R-Truth has been pretty open his friendship with both Hardys, I'm not saying he probably does substances, but grown ups are allowed to drink and have fun, but you also have to consider some of the recent behavioral instances and weird outcries from the former WWE personnel that were in the inner circle of the Hardys. Granted, I'd like to be surprised and see that they'd work with him on this. But I guess only time will tell.

correct me if i'm wrong but this is the first travelling incident since lance cade had a seizure on a plane. that was like 2 - 3 years ago. this could have happened anywhere. to be honest from the description the fact that he was travelling saved his life because he was surrounded by people. he could have been home alone.

I dont think that they should reduce travel as a whole, but I've always had and idea that I think would help. I think every guy should get a six weeks off a year paid. Every two months they should not be on RAW, Smackdown, or house shows for a whole week. Unless they were a champion, I don't think anyone would notice. However, a champion usually gets all his travel comped with air fair and whatnot, so they are a little less stressed out. It would give guys time to recharge their batteries and they would probably want to go back to work when it was up. It's the same as school, you get two days off every week, but its nothing like getting that whole spring break to relax.

Everyone gets replaced at one point and WWE always moves on... Mr. McMahon cares about making money and it shows. WWE supported sending their Superstars, past and present to rehab. Coincidently, it was right after the Chris Benoit tragedy. I like to think that it was "Damage Control." The Wellness Policy is a JOKE!!! How can Chris Masters get three strikes and hired back. They waited till there wasn't as much heat from the Media and Government and are back to their old ways. When was the last time that we heard about a suspension due to failing the Wellness Policy? That said, they won't slow down, but keep moving forward with the same type of schedule...

While all of us are fans and sometimes get a little carried away when it comes to who we like and who we don't, isomething like this is beyond scary. I hope they can ultimately locate what the problem is and correct it.

I doubt this will have any impact at all on the WWE touring. After all, we don't even know the exact cause of Truth's condition right now. For all we know, it could be just one of those things that pops up seemingly out of nowhere like MVP's heart condition a while back. Truth may have had a severe reaction to something he ate or drank, he may have a family history of pulmonary problems and this has happened to members of his family in the past, etc. And sure, it's entirely possible that the wear and tear of life as a pro wrestler caught up with Truth in a damn scary way.

Walking Pneumonia is the diagnosis, he's had it for a while and a carried on wrestling before it all got too much apparently. Sounds a lot like it's traveling's fault to me..If he had Pneumonia he shouldn't have been moving at all..

This is a shame. I wish R-Truth the best. I was hoping to see a push for him. This is going to slow him down substantially obviously.

First of all, I really R-truth is okay since this is really bad situation for him. I basically agree with the latter of this thread. Was traveling what caused this and in what way did it do it? There could be many other factors thrown into the mix but bottom line, will it affect the amount of traveling WWE stars do? Not likely. This is how & why WWE is as big as they are. If it was the normal wear & tear of being a wrestler (along with the travel) then I could suspect some minor changes but there are so many factors that it would be hard tell what caused it.

i believe they need to reduce the schedule....I would say just live RAW tapings in one city like Chicago for example...then have SD taped somewhere....Superstars is obviously taped before both shows respectively so thats not a problem....tape NXT before SD!...I would say dont do house shows but they do them anyways....maybe do the house shows in the same area instead of like somewhere in California the next day...have the shows taped in same state....they should only have like one house show....but what do I know

Jesus Christ Stephen11, After I post exactly what was wrong with him you come and ask whether travelling caused it. The guy had pnuemonia and was touring all over the county AND still wrestling. Please don't insult my or anyone else's intelligence by brushing off the impact travelling and still competing would have on someone with pnuemonia. You just simply do not spend all day in a plane if you have that illness, you WILL get worse. He should not have been out of bed. Lets not forget Pnuemonia kills people.
