Bob Probert one of the greatest fighters ever to skate in the NHL passed away today while out boating with his family.
Probert had overcome many demons in his life, having served time in prison for trying to smuggle cocaine into Detroit from Canada and fighting with a severe alcohol addiction.
Even after leaving Detroit and going to Chicago I loved watching him play the game he was always there for his teammates when they needed him and his fights are among the best the NHL has ever seen. Truth be told he had other skills and even played his way into an All Star game in 1987. He could have been a true power forward if not for his drug and alcohol problems.
He was a stand up guy.
