R.I.P. Alex Chilton

He passed away yesterday. Just read about it.

For those that don't know, Alex Chilton was the frontman of the infamous cult band Big Star, who basically invented the genre of power-pop in the early 70s. One of the most influential bands of all time, and Chilton was truly one of those misunderstood and beautiful geniuses.

He will be sorely missed.





And in tribute to this great soul...

Sucks. Big-time. Alex Chilton was simply an unparalleled songwriter.

While the name escapes me at the moment this past summer I saw something about Big Star and Chilton on TV and it reminded me how great the group was and I dug out some of their stuff and threw it on the ol' iPod...

Sucks to hear, and he was relatively young too
