"Professionally I find that disgusting!"

I'm all out of bubble gum!
This was Hulk Hogan's reaction to Earl Hebner's admission that he took a bribe from Ric Flair. Personally I thought the whole Hogan/Hebner exchange was quite entertaining. Hogan's responses to what Hebner was saying were absolutely hilarious. I think Hogan comes off better in the backstage segments than his in ring promos. I just think he is more relaxed and he doesn't have all the Impact Zone regulars getting down on everything he says. Plus he probably can rehearse and it just seems to be executed better. What does everyone think? Are Hogan's backstage segments better than his in ring ones?

Well Hogan is an old school guy with the way he interviews. He cuts promo's by himself. This is a new element for him and I think it will take time for Hogan to be comfortable like Foley and Eric are.

I think they missed the boat on this angle.
Doesn't anybody remember that Earl was the referee that caused Hogan to finally lose his title to Andre way back in '88. He was Dave Hebner's evil twin.
They could have had another example of Earl's shady officiating.

I agree I thought it was pretty entertaining. Earl does not do Mic Work often but normally he handles it well. Hogan's ring promos are a little hard for me to swallow, the combination of him limping to the ring, plus his discomfort in cutting these promos (at least I see it), make his in ring promos weak.

His backstage ones (minus that one with Jarrett a couple weeks back), have been rather decent.

that actually would be a pretty cool angle when you think about it. possibly bring in earl and dave and work up something from back then.

at the time, the ending for that match was incredible. wrestling always tries to do "twin" angles (undertaker, kane, etc.), but to actually be able to use a real life one was awesome.

It was a pretty good segment, the fact Earl was on the mic (Which is rare), natrually gathered intrigue. However, I can't help but wonder what would it take for a ref to get fired in TNA.

I was a little disappointed with how the whole thing played out. In a way, it's good that they didn't draw the whole "Screwjob" angle out. However, the payoff was kinda a let down.

I really didn't care for it when I saw it last week, but if you're going to do a re-creation of the Montreal Screwjob, then go all out. Create some mystery and interest over what happened and build it up to a pay-off at the next PPV.

Instead, a week later, Hebner just admits that Flair payed him off...and that he screwed Bret, and that's it. Anticlimactic.

As for Hogan's backstage segments, they are pre-taped and edited, so it's hard to gauge how good he really is. I do think he comes off better when he talking normally, but maybe that's because I've seen episodes of Hogan know Best (yeah, I'm admitting to it), and am use to seeing him talk normally, rather then in Hulkster mode.

Hebner is the most over-rated ref of all time, yet he always gets the top matches simply cos of the Montreal Screw Job. There's only one reason why I hate him being the ref in a match but it's a really important one. When he counts for the pin, when he gets to the "3" he ALWAYS taps the person on the matt to tell him to kick out - every time! There's no suspense, no "is it the winning pin?" cos you know it isn't cos he's telling them to kick out. I hate it and the sooner he retires or is sacked the better.

If you look through the annalls of history, you'll find Hebner has been a fixture in senior refereeing long before the Montreal Screwjob. He's just become more notorious and noticeable since then.

I found this bit interesting because we still don't know Hogan's character. Is he the same guy he was in WCW? If so, everything he's saying to Hebner is hypocritical (finger poke of doom anyone?). If not, he should have addressed that he's not the same guy he was in the past and this type of stuff isn't going to fly with him, or the TNA fans, brother!

But I figured Hebner would get fired instead of suspended and then show up later with the whole "loophole in his contract" angle.

man i feel this angle won't go anywhere, hebner is now gonna get more heat than he did before, as for the screwjob i think they should have did it with a little twist on it, not the EXACT SAME THING, hogan however is very intriguing, right now.

I have been disappointed in Hogan on the mic. I never liked his in ring work but it is impossible not to respect his ability to interact with the crowd. Maybe he is unsure about playing to his strength there because the crowd has been a little hostile and unpredictable to him thus far. Instead he just gets out what he has to say with no personality. The gratuitous use of brotha is playing really weak too.

I enjoyed it heaps and I mean to hear Earl in an angle in which he isn't defending himself from some superstar kicking his ass is refreshing, and hey there is no way in WWE he woulda been caught dead doing an angle like that.

Him being suspended is a little anti-climatic but i'm sure it will go somewhere real soon.

I loved this angle... It poked fun at Bret's return and it got AJ over as a heel...

But, the best part was Ebner's reponse... "Vince didn't screw bret, Bret didn't screw Bret... I screwed Bret and I screwed Angle too."

I laughed my ass off when he said that...

I'm just curious to see where all this Hogan and bicshoff stuff leads, not sure if Hulk is gona go heel with Eric or what the plans are, but any wrestling fan can smell a swerve brewing...

Hogan is a lot better in his backstage segments than he is in the ring. The fact that he called him X-Pac the other day would suggest that this isn't down to rehearsal. I think it's probably because he is uncomfortable. Hogan isn't used to being booed when he's expected to be a face, and I think the Impact Zone crowd and the fact that the obvious heelishness of Bischoff are undermining him a little bit and throwing him off course. Hebner is a pretty unique referee in that he just about has enough talent to pull off an angle and we saw this on display here. I only hope this lazy booking isn't a fixture.
