Pre-Show Stalwart
This Thursday will be the first new show since the live Impact 10 days ago. How do you expect the show to do ratings-wise? What's a success and what would be a failure?

While I don't think Impact will score a 1.5 like the Monday show, going back to their usual 1.0 would feel like a disappointment in my opinion. However, like I said, it's been 10 days since the last show, so the momentum and excitement have died down.

I think a 1.2-1.3 would be considered a success going into the Genesis PPV.

Thoughts?

Good thread and I agree that TNA has lost momentum as far as the time between this Thursday's iMPACT and 1.4. '10, but everybody here and everybody in TNA management figured this and there was no way around how the days would have played out until the next show as far as taping was concerned, and esp the ongoing negotiations of trying to get Spike to land a deal for Monday Nights permanently.

With that said, I'd say the show won't hit the 1.5 rating it did last week, but not hitting the 1.5 won't be remotely near a failure, but I DO think going under a 1.0 would be a cause for major concern considering the names and hype.

The hype is down and the attention is being brought for the Monday Night Wars. TNA was hyped, and they have now let the torch pass within a 10 day period for this weeks un-talked about iMPACT. It's up to the fans to decide what Thursdays mean, so I predict somewhere around a 1.1-1.3.

If it does hit that then I expect it to remain and eventually grow off of a 1.1 - 1.3, which is still fairly nice considering Thursday's rating in the midst of Monday Night talk.

The Monday Night War on 1.4.10 should be more than good enough going into Genesis on Sunday.

I'm pretty certain that iMPACT won't be doing a 1.5 this Thursday. The show isn't live, all the hype surrounding Hulk Hogan making his debut with the company has died down and it's not going head to head against the WWE.

Personally, I think they made a mistake by not at least taping an episode of iMPACT the following day and airing it on Thursday instead of showing the replay of the Jan 4 show. Now, the replay in and of itself did a 0.9 last Thursday. Now, that can be a bit of a positive sign or a negative depending on how you look at it. It can be positive when you consider that TNA nearly equaled their average rating this past Thursday by showing a replay rather than a new episode. On the other hand, the replay did score a little under average and that could indicate that TNA has lost all the momentum and crowd interest that they may have gained from the Jan 4 show.

If TNA is able to score 1.2 or a 1.3 like they used to do on a regular basis, it could be a good sign that there's some renewed interest by some fans. For me, however, I'm going to say that this week's episode of iMPACT scores a 1.0. TNA is notorious for not being able to maintain momentum and capitalize on opportunities that come along. Interest has died down, Hogan's debut has come and gone and I just don't believe that they generated long term interest.

1.0 to 1.3 straight up...unless theyt make that huge move to monday there ratings will stay subpar.....and a 1.3 would be extremely lucky for them.....

Pretty sure Internet Spoilers/The fact it's not live means a 1.5 Rating isn't going to happen. I mean, it's Genesis on Sunday, and they'll still be some renewed interest from the 3 Hour Live show last week. I think they'll get a 1.2 or 1.3, which would be great for them going into Genesis and beyond.

the fact that impact isn't live is def gunna hurt..because when people read spoilers they obviousally don't tune into the show. However, I still believe that this impact will do better than the usual 1.0..I'll give it a 1.2-1.3.

I'll give them the 1.5. They have some buzz and word of mouth going now that they've put themselves on the map. Whether or not it's true, people believe another Monday Night War is on the horizon, and I think there will be some interest in TNA as a result of that. People that watched them live last Monday will likely watch again to see where they're going with all those new people, and people that watched Raw instead might tune in to see what the competition is all about.

So yeah, I'll give them a 1.5 for Thursday.

I think Thursday night is tough night so I'd have to go with 1.1 or 1.2. I don't think it will be as high as Monday night. As a matter of fact, I think they could be higher if they went to Monday nights for some strange reason.

I personally think they will do a rating higher than 1.5 this week. They dont have WWE Raw to compete against for one, and also their show last week was huge, and it got a lot of people talking, so a heap of people will tune in to see what all the fuss was about! Everyone online has stated that TNA put on a better show than WWE last week, i agree, and everyone i have spoken to also agrees. So if i was a WWE fan, i would be curious as to what TNA was doing and watch the show on Thursday. And guess what? I'll get to watch RAW on Monday too. So i can make a choice between the two shows. I think TNA have executed everything perfectly. Airing the debut show on Monday against WWE, AND putting on a better product to get everyone talking. THEN - the following week don't go live against WWE so all of the loyal WWE fans can watch TNA without missing Raw. Very smart.
If TNA puts out anything half as good as last weeks show, they will hook a lot more fans this week. Smart business decision. Smart way to gain a greater percentage of the market share.
TNA built some great storylines last week, they had some great surprises and i feel they will do better than a 1.5. They will indeed conquer the WWE in due time. I have said it time and time again, WWE has been without competition for 10 years, and they have gotten lazy. All of the possible big storylines and feuds WWE can produce have already been done AND OVERDONE! Cena v HHH. Cena v HBK. HBK v HHH. Taker v Batista. Taker v HHH. Orton v Taker. Orton v Cena. Orton v HBK. Orton v HHH. Show v Batista. Show v Taker. Show v HHH. Show v HBK. Jericho v HBK. Jericho v HHH. Jericho v Cena. Cena v Batista. Cena v Edge. HHH v Edge. Taker v Edge. Batista v Edge. DX angles. Etc etc etc.
WWE also are very stale with their programming, which is really hurting them. Thats why they have resorted to getting a celebrity guest host every week. Clever concept to try and hook viewers based on a celebrity's appearance, while the same old gay, boring matches are done.

TNA however have so many big feuds that haven't been done, and that can be done. Hogan v Foley. Jeff Hardy v AJ Styles. Hardy v Angle. Hardy v Sting. Hardy v Wolfe. Flair v Styles. NWO concept is very fresh again and will work extremely well in TNA. Angle Hardy. Flair Angle. Samoa Hardy. Samoa Flair. Orlando Wolfe. And TNA can also re-do feuds they have already done because they weren't a bigtime company when they were done so the angles this time around will have a more mainstream feel and effect with Hogan and Bischoff orchestrating the storylines.
TNA are building angles where there will be wrestling rivalries, and also on camera corporate rivalries.

TNA will kick WWE's ass. At the latest, it will be happening after Wrestlemania, because WM is WWE's big card that they can play for now. But it will happen. I have not been entertained by a wrestling show like i was by TNA impact last week for a long, long time.
TNA > WWE today.

They probably going to have 1.0 rating or near that number considering that all the new viewer's that they got last week probably don'T that IMPACT is playing on thursday's. TNA didn'T advertise the fact that IMPACT was playing on Thursday's during the live broadcast am probably most new viewer's don'T watch Spike TV on a regular base so that why i'm thinking that TNA probably will return to the normal ratings they are use to having and after this week's program it probably will be business as usual for TNA.

I'll go with a 1.3 but it could very well be lower....a move to Mondays is what they need in order to go to the next level ratings wise.

I'm going to play it safe, and guess 1.2.

They'll do at least they're usual ratings, and hopefully keep bringing in new fans. Also, it's a "go home" show, so it should be a bit higher than any old Impact. A nice 1.2 isn't too much to hope for, but I'd like to see it remain at 1.3 or higher.

The ratings for last night's iMPACT are in and the show did pretty damn well. It scored a 1.26 rating last night, which will be rounded up to a 1.3. These are the kinds of numbers TNA was pulling on a regular basis until around September. While it didn't quite equal the 1.5 iMPACT did on the 4th, it's pretty close and it's up from the 0.7 the 4 hour iMPACT did on New Year's Eve. I'd say TNA is pretty pleased with this number.

We were ALL pretty much on the money, but even with predicting it, I am SERIOUSLY really happy with the 1.26 rating, which should round up to a 1.3. That's just an AWESOME indication for ALL OF TNA and every wrestler apart of this should be proud. Of course the 1.5 wasn't going to hold, and Thursday's at that time slot is weird for a MAIN wrestling show to begin with so this is a great time to not only be a wrestling fan, but a TNA fan! The fans attentions are set, now it's finishing the product and setting major storylines up after Genesis.

The only problem I have with Spike and management is the fucking commercials! God DAMN! ENOUGH. During the main event, they left to go to commercial a good 6 times, and 3 of those were quick hits and back off. They were VERY annoying and could lose an audience. Hell, during the LIVE feed on Monday Night during the main event between Styles and Angle, they announced that they were going to stay on air as long as possible and Hogan authorized they were going to finish when they would finish and stay with it. As soon as Tenay announced this, THEY WENT OFF AIR and onto a commercial! I'm sure things will change, but I hope they change the camera and air production QUICK.

Overall, TNA is energetic and SOLID at the moment. TNA TNA TNA!
